Fax +32 2 359 95 50 UK STYLE PLUG WIRING INSTRUCTIONS (IN THE UK ONLY) This product must only be used from a 13-amp power socket. If a BS1363 approved 13-amp plug is used, it should be fitted with a 13-amp fuse. The wires on the power cord are colour coded: blue = neutral, brown = live, green or green & yellow = earth. The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked N or coloured in black. The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked L or coloured in red. The green (& yellow) wire must be connected to the terminal marked E or coloured in green (& yellow). INITIAL OPERATION When you use your appliance for the first time, pour fresh water into the water tank (without coffee) and switch on the appliance. Once all the water has passed through, switch the appliance off and let it cool down. When it is cold enough repeat the process with fresh water. Repeat this process 3 times.
PREPARATION OF COFFEE
Open the lid of the water tank and filter holder (7). Pour the desired amount of water into the water tank (8). Make sure not to overfill by filling maximum 10 cups of water. The number of cups can be read from the water level indicator. Insert a paper filter in the filter holder (6) and add the desired quantity of ground coffee (approximately 6g per cup). Never forget to close the lid (7) before switching on your coffee maker. Put the jug with closed lid on the hotplate. Switch on the coffee maker. The pilot light (9) of the switch will be illuminated, indicating that your appliance is in use. Thanks to the keep warm function, your coffee is warmed up as long as the appliance is switched on and the jug (3) is situated on the hotplate (2). When the brewing process is over, remove the jug from the hotplate (the drip stop will prevent dripping); pour the desired amount of coffee and put the jug with the remaining coffee back on the hotplate. However, we advise you not to let the appliance switched on more than 2 hours and make sure that you never let an empty jug on the hotplate (2). The hotplate will only stop heating up when the switch is in OFF position.
DESCALING AND CLEANING
We advise you to descale the coffee maker to prolong its life span. For descaling only use products especially made for descaling of coffee makers and follow their instruction manual. Then rinse the appliance twice with fresh water, without coffee powder. Guarantee claims will not be accepted for appliances that have not been descaled. Never use a dishwasher to clean the jug. Just clean it in soapsuds. To clean the plastic parts of the appliance, use a damp, non abrasive cloth. PRACTICAL HINTS When you notice that the coffee making process is longer than it should be, it is probably time to decalcify the appliance. Do not wait until the situation gets worse. The descaling frequency depends on the amount of lime in water and therefore can be different from family to family. Copies of the I/B.
