USER MANUAL KA 165 CB BOMANN

General Safety Instructions Read the operating instructions carefully before putting the appliance into operation and keep the instructions including the warranty, the receipt and, if possible, the box with the internal packing.

  • The appliance is designed exclusively for private use and for the envisaged purpose. This appliance is not fi t for commercial use. Do not use it outdoors (except if it is desig- ned to be used outdoors). Keep it away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, humidity (never dip it into any liquid) and sharp edges. Do not use the appliance with wet hands. If the appliance is humid or wet, unplug it immediately.
  • When cleaning or putting it away, switch off the appliance and always pull out the plug from the socket (pull on the plug, not the cable) if the appliance is not being used and remove the attached accessories.
  • Do not operate the machine without supervision. If you should leave the workplace, always switch the machine off or remove the plug from the socket (pull the plug itself, not the lead).
  • Check the appliance and the cable for damage on a regular basis. Do not use the appliance if it is damaged.

  • Before making coffee in the machine for the first time rinse two to three times with cold water in order to clean the machine.
  • Clean the filter pad and the glass pot by rinsing. Electrical Connection
  • Make sure that the machine is switched off (operating switch on "0").
  • Before inserting the mains lead into the socket, check whether the voltage you intend to use complies with that of the machine. For details see the machine label.
  • Only connect the machine to a properly installed safety socket, 230 V/50 Hz. Operation

1. Pull the lid of the water tank forwards. Fill the machine to the number of cups

required with cold water.

2. Swing the filter out to the right. Insert a filter (size 1 x 2) into the filter funnel and

fill it with coffee powder. Then close the filter holder until it locks in place.

3. Place the pot on the hot plate and close the lid of the water tank.

4. Turn the switch to position “1”. The coffee will begin to percolate. After perco-

lation you may remove the pot.

5. If you would like to keep the remaining coffee warm, the switch must remain in

position “1”. The hotplate will keep the coffee warm until the switch is moved to the “0” position. The machine is then switched off. Descaling Descaling is necessary when the time needed to prepare coffee becomes consider- ably longer. Only commercially available descaling products based on citric acid should be used. Cleaning Before cleaning the machine you should always remove the mains lead and wait until the machine has cooled down. The machine should only be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth. Do not use any strong detergents or solvents for cleaning. The coffee pot and the filter pad should be cleaned by rinsing in cold water.
