C PREPARING THE BUGABOO FROG COT
The cot is made ready for use by fitting the cot liner to the seat/cot frame. The cot liner is supplied com- plete with mattress and apron. The cot is a freestanding unit and can be used as a carry cot. When taking your child by car, however, you should use an approved car seat. The seat cover can also be fitted to the seat/cot frame. If the seat cover is already fitted to the seat/cot frame and you want to turn it into a cot you will first need to remove the seat cover. See diagram E (carry out the instructions in reverse order). Fitting the cot liner to the seat/cot frame
The cot upholstery is fastened to the seat/cot frame with Velcro straps. Ensure that the round side of the bot- tom plate of the cot upholstery corresponds with the round side of the seat/cot frame. The numerical order shows you how to attach the cot upholstery. First position the plastic slats (no. 1) in the pocket. Then attach the Velcro straps (no. 2 - no. 7). Make sure that you observe the numerical order of the Velcro. Attach the Velcro straps at the lower end of the sides of the cot upholstery tightly to the side supports of the seat/cot frame.

E PREPARING THE BUGABOO FROG SEAT
The Bugaboo Frog seat is made ready for use by fitting the seat cover and the handle to the seat/cot frame. The seat/cot frame can also be used with the cot liner. If the cot liner is already fitted to the seat/cot frame and you want to turn it into a seat you will first need to remove the cot liner. See diagram C (carry out the instructions in reverse order). Fitting the seat cover to the seat/cot frame
Stand the seat/cot frame as shown in the diagram.
Slide the sleeve of the seat cover over the top of the seat/cot frame with the Bugaboo logo at the front. Check that the rounded top of the sleeve is at the rounded end of the seat/cot frame. Pull the sleeve down tightly. Fasten the sleeve of the backrest at the bottom and sides with the Velcro. Fold the seat portion inwards to make the unit into a seat.
Position the O-ring over the projecting pin (see red arrow A). Then position the seat on to the side. Bend the seat/cot frame inwards by pushing on the side of the seat/cot frame (see red arrow B). Pull the ties and position the O-ring over the projecting pin (see red arrow C).
Click the ties together under the seat (see red arrow A). Fasten the two Velcro strips at the foot to the underside of the seat/cot frame (see red arrow B). Make sure that the velcro strips and the ties are prop- erly fastened. Then slip the waist straps through the appropriate holes in the sides of the seat cover (see red arrow C). Attaching the sun canopy The sun canopy is attached to the seat in the same way as to the cot. See diagram C2. Attaching the handle

WARNING Before lifting the seat by the handle always check that the handle is fitted correctly. F USING THE SEAT FREESTANDING AND ON THE CHASSIS The Bugaboo Frog seat is designed to carry one child from birth up to a weight of 17 kilograms. The Bugaboo Frog seat can be used freestanding. When used freestanding the backrest should be placed in the semi-reclining position. When the seat is on the chassis the backrest can be adjusted to a sitting, semi-reclin- ing and reclining position. The angle between the backrest and the seat portion of the Bugaboo Frog seat unit remains unchanged. In the case of infants under six months we advise you not to use the seat in the sitting position but only in the reclining and semi-reclining position, and then for no more than two hours at a stretch. Seat used freestanding with backrest in semi-reclining position
The seat can only be placed freestanding on the ground with the backrest in the semi-reclining position. To set this position, open out the side brackets. Attaching the seat to the chassis Slide the side brackets of the seat onto the lugs sticking up from the chassis until you hear a click on both sides of the Bugaboo Frog(in the same way as with the cot). The various sitting and reclining positions can be set with the seat facing either way. Using the harness of the seat
We advise you to use the five-point harness when using the Bugaboo Frog seat either freestanding or on the chassis. The shoulder straps, crotch strap and waist straps are already fitted. The waist straps have to be positioned as shown in diagram E3. Then place your child in the Bugaboo Frog seat. Pull the crotch strap out between your child's legs. Pull the shoulder straps over your child's shoulders and attach them to the crotch strap. Pull the waist straps across your child's middle and also attach them to the crotch strap. You should have heard four clicks. Your child is now safe and sound in the Bugaboo Frog seat. If your child has a tendency to slip down, pull the crotch strap through the black loop on the seat area before attaching the shoulder and waist straps to it. WARNING Ensure that all the locking devices are engaged before use. WARNING Before lifting the seat by the handle always check that the handle is fitted correctly. WARNING Always use the crotch strap in combination with the waist belt. WARNING Use a harness as soon as your child can sit unaided. WARNING Don't let your child surprise you with unexpected movements: ALWAYS put the harness on. WARNING The harness must be properly fastened and adjusted to the size of your child. WARNING Babies have highly sensitive skins, so NEVER leave your baby unprotected in the sun! Use the Bugaboo Frog Parasol (available as an optional extra). See section L (Optional Accessories). WARNING If your child has a tendency to slip down, pull the crotch strap through the loop on the seat area before attaching the shoulder and waist straps to it. WARNING Before using the seat with the Bugaboo Frog chassis for the first time you should read parts G and H of these instructions. G USE OF THE SWIVEL HUB LOCK/BRAKE AND PARKING BRAKE Swivel hub lock/brake
By fully raising the swivel hub locking handle you lock the swivel hubs in position and the Bugaboo Frog goes in a straight line. In this position the locking handle fits into the black holder.
By sliding the swivel hub locking handle fully downwards, the small wheels function as swiveling wheels, resulting in optimum manoeuvrability Operation of the parking brake.
The Bugaboo Frog has a parking brake which acts on the rims of the large wheels. It is operated by a lever on the pushing handle. To engage the parking brake, push the lever down.
The brake cable of the parking brake can be adjusted using the brake cable spanner. Screwing the nut upwards causes the cable to slacken. Screwing the nut downwards causes the cable to tighten. WARNING The Bugaboo Frog is fitted with a parking brake. This must only be used when the Bugaboo Frog is motionless, NEVER when it is in motion. WARNING The shoes of the Bugaboo Frog parking brake can wear out as a result of extended or incorrect use. You should check them regularly. You can pur- chase replacement brake shoes from the shop where you bought your Bugaboo Frog. WARNING Always put the parking brake on when parking the Bugaboo Frog. WARNING Ensure that the Bugaboo Frog parking brake is pulled on properly. H USING THE BUGABOO FROG IN TOWN, IN THE WOODS
To understand the various ways of using the Bugaboo Frog in town, in the woods and on the beach you should read the diagrams and text below in sequence. Using the Bugaboo Frog in town (four-wheel position)
When using the Bugaboo Frog in town we advise you to have the pushing handle on the same side as the large wheels and the swivel hub locks in the middle position. See diagram G2. This gives the Bugaboo Frog maximum manoeuvrability and enables you to negotiate pavements with ease. To place the pushing handle over the large wheels, pull the two release knobs on the inside of it towards you to release it, then pull it across. Do not exert force on the handle while operating the knobs. Using the Bugaboo Frog in the woods (four-wheel position)
When using the Bugaboo Frog in the woods you should have the pushing handle over the swivel hubs. This puts the large wheels in front and enables you to negotiate bumps with ease. When using the Bugaboo Frog in the woods we advise you to lock the two swivel hubs by fully raising the locking handles. See diagram G1. To place the pushing handle over the swivel hubs, pull the two release knobs on the inside of it towards you to release it, then pull it across. See diagram H1. Do not exert force on the handle while operating the knobs. Using the Bugaboo Frog on the beach or other difficult terrain (two-wheel position)
When using the Bugaboo Frog on rough or hilly ground or on the beach you can place the chassis in the two-wheel drive position. To do this, first remove the seat from the chassis and lock the swivel hubs. The pushing handle should be over the swivel hubs. When using the buggy on the beach, the swivel hubs become extremely dirty. You are advised to remove the swivel hubs when using the buggy in the two- wheel drive position
Once you have pulled the handle over, push the crossbar between the swivel hubs down until you hear a click.
You can now place the seat on the chassis in the two-wheel drive position.
When the buggy is in the two-wheel drive position, the seat can only face one way.
Lateral stability is substantially reduced in the two-wheel drive position. Take care not to let the Bugaboo Frog fall over when using it this way on rough terrain. WARNING Ensure that all the locking devices are engaged before use. WARNING Note that the seat is not reversible in the two-wheel drive position. WARNING We advise you not to use two-wheel drive with the cot, as the child cannot be secured to it with the harness.
2 userguide_EU_english.qxd 6/17/2003 3:16 PM Page 6WARNING Use the wrist strap in both the four-wheel and two-wheel drive position. WARNING Take care that the Bugaboo Frog does not fall over sideways when using two-wheel drive. WARNING When using the buggy on the beach, the swivel hubs become extremely dirty. You are advised to remove the swivel hubs when using the buggy in the two-wheel drive position. WARNING The Bugaboo Frog is not saltwater-resistant.
I COLLAPSING AND REMOVING THE WHEELS
Removing the seat/cot from the chassis Before collapsing the Bugaboo Frog you need to remove the seat/cot from the chassis. See diagram D2. Folding the chassis in two-wheel drive position Set the chassis to two-wheel drive. See diagrams H3 and H4. You can now simply put the chassis away or hang it from the pushing handle. Fully collapsing the chassis with wheels
Place the Bugaboo Frog chassis in the four-wheel drive position with the pushing handle over the large wheels. Lock the swivel hubs. Move the pushing handle down by pulling the two release knobs on the inside of it towards you.
Lift the Bugaboo Frog chassis by the central crossbar and fold the wheels together until you hear a click.
Your fully collapsed Bugaboo Frog should look like diagram i3. Fully collapsing the chassis without wheels
Remove the swivel hubs from their sockets by holding in the two plastic spring clips and pulling the whole unit out of the socket.
Remove the large wheels by squeezing the two ends of the metal spring clip together and pulling the wheel out of the socket. Collapsing the seat/cot To make the seat totally flat, fold the side supports completely against the seat/cot frame (see figure F1). Then lift the seat bottom (see figure E2) and disassemble the carrying handle (see figure E5). To make the cot totally flat, detach the Velco straps at the foot and head of the cot (see figure C1 No. 2) and remove tha plastic slats (see figure C1 No. 1). Then fold the side supports completely against the seat / cot frame (see figure F1) and disassemble the carrying handle (see figure C4) J MAINTENANCE General points Check regularly whether the safety devices are all working correctly. The handle and the base of the seat or cot must be checked for damage regularly. Only use spare parts supplied or approved by Bugaboo Frog. Do not fold up the Bugaboo Frog or accessories while still wet or store them in a damp place as this can cause mildew. If the inner tubes of the large wheels develop leaks you can repair them in the same way as a bicycle inner tube. New inner tubes and tyres can be obtained from well-stocked cycle shops. Cleaning Clean the Bugaboo Frog with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. The swivel hubs are particularly susceptible to dirt. To clean them, you can remove them as described above. Clean them regularly with lukewarm water and lubricate them with silicon spray or Teflon spray. The wheel bearings must not be lubricated. All Bugaboo Frog covers and liners are removable and MACHINE-washable at max. 30°C. Covers and liners must not be bleached, ironed, dry-cleaned or tumble-dried. Before washing ALWAYS remove the stiffeners and removable foam parts.
Bugaboo Frog under-seat bag The Bugaboo Frog under-seat bag is designed to carry a maximum of 4 kilograms. For fitting see diagram B5. Sun canopy Babies have highly sensitive skins, so NEVER leave your baby unprotected in the sun! Apron The apron can be attached to the cot to protect your child against wind and weather. See also diagram C5. Mosquito net The mosquito net keeps flies, mosquitoes and other insects away from your child. Attach it to the foot end of the seat/cot over the sun hood. Rain canopy The rain cover protects your child against rain. Attach it to the foot end of the seat/cot frame over the sun canopy. If you wish, you can remove the textile from the sun canopy, allowing your child an unobstructed view. This is also ideal in very cold or windy conditions. The rain cover has a prefixed rib. The holes on either end of this rib should be slid across the pins sticking out on the side of the seat/cot frame. At the front of the rain cover is an air vent: for optimal ventilation ensure that the Velcro strips of the air vent meet well when pressed together. WARNING To avoid uncomfortable heat build-up, do not leave rain cover up after the rain has stopped WARNING Ensure optimum ventilation by firmly pressing the Velco strips of the air vent together
