Frequently Asked Questions - BC300 HAMA

How to turn on the monitor?
To turn on the transmitter or receiver, set the OFF/CH1/CH2 button to CH1 or CH2. The receiver can also be turned on by turning the volume knob to the right.
Why is there no sound?
Check that both devices are on the same channel and the same pilot tone code. Ensure the transmitter sensitivity is sufficient (dial from 0 to 8). If the problem persists, check the batteries or the adapter.
What does the 'Baby sleeps' icon mean?
The 'Baby sleeps' icon appears when the transmitter detects no significant noise for a few seconds. The monitor then switches to energy-saving mode to extend battery life.
How to adjust the transmitter sensitivity?
Use the SENSITIVITY dial on the transmitter. Position 0 is the least sensitive, 8 the most sensitive. Adjust according to the noise level in the baby's room.
What to do in case of interference or background noise?
Move the receiver away from the transmitter. Reduce the volume. If the problem persists, change the pilot tone code (DIP) on both devices. You can also remove and reinsert the batteries.
How to change the security code (pilot tone)?
Open the battery compartments of the transmitter and receiver. Set the 4 DIP switches (ON/DIP) to the same combination according to the table in the manual. There are 16 codes available. This prevents interference with other devices.
What does the continuous audible alarm mean?
The continuous audible alarm indicates that the receiver is out of range of the transmitter or the connection is lost. Move the receiver closer to the transmitter or check the batteries and channels.
How to recharge the rechargeable batteries?
Transmitter: connect the DC 6V adapter to the thin plug on the transmitter. Receiver: place it on its charging base and connect the adapter to the base's plug. Full charge time is about 9 hours with the device turned off.
Can I use the device with alkaline batteries?
Yes, you can use 3 alkaline AAA batteries instead of the provided rechargeable ones. Alkaline batteries are not rechargeable. You can also use only the mains adapters.
What is the maximum range?
The range can reach up to 800 meters outdoors with a clear line of sight. Indoors, the range may be reduced by walls and obstacles.

Other functions

Pilot tone

Radio security and being free of interference for this Baby-calling unit is significantly improved by a signal this is inaudible for you and which has been digitally coded and tested in practice.

The coding causes the receiver to be turned on only when noises (e.g. of a waking baby) are transmitted from its own transmitter.

There are 16 different pilot tones for user selection with the DIP-switch positioned in the battery compartment individually according to your environment.
