Dear MAGNAT Customer,

Congratulations on your fine new loudspeakers and thank you very much for choosing MAGNAT! You have made an excellent choice. The high-quality speakers produced by MAGNAT are renowned all over the world.

Please study the instructions and information below carefully before using your new loudspeakers.

IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • Please read through the instruction manual carefully before starting to use the device. This manual contains important information concerning operation and safety aspects. It is imperative you observe all of the information. Keep the manual in a safe location.
  • WARNING NOTICE: All of the warning symbols on the speakers, accessories and in the instruction manual itself must be adhered to.
  • EXPOSURE TO HEAT: Only operate the speakers and accessories in a temperature range from 10^ to 40^ .
  • The speakers should not be positioned near heat sources (heaters, ovens, radiant heaters, naked flames, etc.). When setting up close to an amplifier a minimum distance of 10cm must be maintained.
  • The distance between the active subwoofer enclosure and the walls of the room or other objects (e.g. furniture, shelf units) may not be less than 5cm on any side.
  • The aluminium plate and cooling fins of the amplifier at the rear of the active subwoofer serve to cool the built-in amplifier; for this reason, they must also be at least 5cm away from all objects and must not be covered (e.g. by a curtain).
  • EFFECT OF MOISTURE: The speakers should not be exposed to dripping or splash water. Neither should they be used to support vases or other containers filled with liquid. Do not expose the speakers to water or high levels of humidity. There is a danger of electric shock. In the event of contact with moisture or liquids remove the mains adapter immediately.
  • FOREIGN MATERIAL: Ensure that no foreign material enters through the speaker openings and into the interior. This could trigger short circuits and even result in electric shock and fire.
  • CLEANING: Please use a soft, dry cloth with no cleaning agents, sprays or chemical solvents, as these could damage the surfaces.
  • ELECTRICAL CONNECTION: Please note the voltage levels on the information signs. The mains adapters for the speakers and the transmitter should only be operated with the voltage and frequency values specified on the signs.
  • LIGHTNING PROTECTION/PREVENTIVE MEASURES: If the device is not going to be used for a prolonged period (e.g. when on holiday), it should be disconnected from the mains by removing the plug. The device should also be disconnected from the mains in the event of a thunderstorm. Doing this will prevent damage caused by lightning and overvoltage.
  • MAINS CABLE: The mains cable must always be suitable for operation and it should only ever be laid out in a manner that prevents it from being trodden on. It should not be pinched by objects either, as this can damage the cable. When using plugs and power strips it must be ensured that the cable is not kinked at the point where it emerges from the socket. Do not connect or remove the mains cable with damp hands.
  • OVERLOAD: Sockets, power strips and extension cables should not be overloaded. If an overload occurs, there is a risk of electric shock and fire.
  • SETTING UP: Please read the installation instructions. If you want to mount the speakers on the wall, follow the description in the installation instructions.
  • The speakers should only be positioned or mounted on a solid surface and not on moving base frames, otherwise there is a risk of injury.

DAMAGE THAT MUST BE RECTIFIED BY A SPECIALIST:

If any of the following damage occurs, disconnect the speakers and transmitter from the mains immediately and contact a specialist to conduct the repair work:

  • Damage to the mains cable or the mains plug.

A damaged cable should not be repaired, but must be replaced.
- If moisture or water has entered the device or foreign objects have fallen into the device.

  • If the speaker has fallen and the housing is damaged.
  • If the device does not work properly, even though all of the information in the instruction manual has been observed.

Only those subsequent alterations approved by the manufacturer may be conducted.

Only original spare parts should be used for repair.

After conducting any repairs the safety of device should be checked to ensure it is functioning correctly and safely.

Repairs must always be conducted by qualified specialists, as you might otherwise be exposed to dangerous high voltage levels or other hazards.

Use of the supplied wall bracket for the soundbar is illustrated in Fig.1.

Important information / safety instructions: The customer is solely responsible for the use of other wall brackets / attachments. The customer is also solely responsible for the secure attachment of the Soundbar bracket to the wall and the selection of suitable mounting material (e.g. screws, wall plugs, etc.), while taking account of the weight and construction of the Soundbar and the condition of the wall.

SYSTEM INSTALLATION (ABB.2 AND 5)

Connecting a TV to audio input INPUT 1:

Use the supplied audio cable (G) and connect the audio output on your TV to audio input INPUT 1 (4). If your TV has an audio output with fixed level, this is preferable to the audio output with variable level.

If your TV is equipped with a 3.5mm audio output jack (e.g. headphone socket), you can use the supplied adapter (F).

Connecting an additional analogue audio source to INPUT 2:

An additional audio source (e.g. MP3 player, CD player, etc.) can be connected to audio input INPUT 2 (5). The necessary connecting cable is not included in delivery.

Connecting a digital audio source to the DIGITAL input (WSB 50 PRO only):

The mains cable used in your country, however, may be different. If the mains cable is not compatible with your power sockets or if you are in any doubt, please contact your Magnat dealer.

  1. Connect the output cable (jack connector) of the small external mains adapter to the power supply jack of the Soundbar (2).
  2. Insert the 2-pin mains cable into the jack on the mains adapter.
  3. Insert the mains cable into the socket. Make sure that you are using the mains plug that is compatible with the socket (refer to the information above).

Mains connection of the subwoofer:

OPERATION

Operating elements of the Soundbar (rear) (fig. 2):

(1) Mains switch: After installation use this switch to turn on the device. If the device is not going to be used for a prolonged period, it should be switched off.
(6) Transmission channel/selector switch (Channel ID): Both the Soundbar and the subwoofer have a selector switch at the rear to set the transmission channel. The number of the transmission channel for the Soundbar and the subwoofer must be identical. If malfunctions should occur during normal operation, these can normally be remedied by switching to another channel.

Operating elements of the Soundbar (front) (fig. 3):

(7) ON/STBY button with LED status indication: This button can be used to switch between the standby and operating modes. This function is also possible via the remote control. The operating status is indicated by the illuminated colour of the symbol: red: Standby mode, blue: Operating mode
(8) Volume buttons: (+ - ) : Increases (+) or decreases (-) the volume.
(9) Input selector switch: Input select button: Switches between the various inputs: Audio 1, Audio 2, Audio digital (WSB 50 PRO only). The selected input is indicated by illuminated blue symbols (1, 2, D).
(10) 3D Surround button: Switches the 3D surround sound function on or off. When this function is active the symbol turns blue.
(11) Sensor for the remote control: Please aim at this sensor when using the remote control.

Operation with the system remote control (fig. 4):

(12) ON/STBY: Switches the device on when it is in the standby mode. If the LED (fig. 3 (7)) does not illuminate, actuate the power switch ((fig. 2, (1)) located on the rear. Conversely the device can be switched from power operation to the standby mode.
(13) MUTE: Switches the sound on and off.
(14) VOLUME: Increases (+) or decreases (-) the volume.
(15) SUB: Increases (+)/decreases (-) the volume of the subwoofer.
(16) SOURCE (Input selector switch): Switches between the different inputs (Audio 1, Audio 2, Audio digital only WSB 50 PRO). he selected input is indicated by illuminated blue symbols (1, 2, D).

Operating elements on the subwoofer (fig. 5):

(22) Mains switch: After installation use this switch to turn on the device. If the device is not going to be used for a prolonged period, it should be switched off.
(18) Power LED: The subwoofer is switched off in position "Off" and on in position "On". The power LED is initially red (standby). When the subwoofer receives a signal from the receiver, it automatically switches from standby to normal, the LED then turns green. It automatically switches to standby after receiving no signals for some minutes, the LED turns red.
(21) Transmission channel/selector switch (Channel ID): Both the Soundbar and the subwoofer have a selector switch at the rear to set the transmission channel. The number of the transmission channel for the Soundbar and the subwoofer must be identical. If malfunctions should occur during normal operation, these can normally be remedied by switching to another channel.
(19) Cross-over frequency control: Used to set the upper limit of the subwoofer operating range. In combination with the SOUNDBAR, this control should be set to 120 - 150 Hz. The cross-over frequency control should be set to the maximum value (200 Hz) when AV receivers/amplifiers are used. The crossover frequency between the subwoofer and Soundbar is then set in the receiver's/amplifier's set-up. Please refer to your receiver's/amplifier's operating instructions here.
(20) Phase switch: In normal use the phase switch should be set to 0^ . However, in rare cases it may be advantageous to set the phase to 180^ (e.g. if the subwoofer is far away from the Soundbar or in the event of unfavourable acoustics in the room). Generally speaking: the setting where the lower base tone area has a fuller sound is the correct one.
