Frequently Asked Questions - RB61 II KLIPSCH
How to unpack the RB61 II speaker?
Turn the box over so that the open side is on a table or floor, flaps spread. Lift the box vertically to release the speaker. Remove all packaging materials and keep the box for possible transport. To put the grille in place, align its magnets with the screws on the front of the speaker.
What is the best position for the front speakers?
Place the left and right front speakers on shelves or stands so that the tweeters are approximately at ear height of a seated listener. Ideally, position them equidistant from the floor and front wall, and at different distances from side walls to improve bass. For a stereo system, form an equilateral triangle with the listening position.
How to connect cables to the speaker terminals?
Use stranded copper wire at least 2 mm² (16 gauge). Strip the ends about 6 mm. Loosen the terminal nuts to see the holes, insert the stripped wires, then tighten by hand. Respect polarity: red terminal (+) to the amplifier's positive output, black terminal (-) to the negative output. Avoid any contact between strands.
What is bi-wiring and how to do it?
Bi-wiring consists of using two separate cables to connect the amplifier to the tweeter and woofer terminals separately. To do this, remove the metal jumpers connecting the two terminal pairs. Connect one cable to the top terminals (tweeter) and another to the bottom terminals (woofer), then connect both cables to the same amplifier output (do not use A and B outputs separately). Do not overtighten.
Can I use bi-amping with these speakers?
Bi-amping is not recommended. It generally provides no advantage over a single amplifier and can degrade sound if poorly implemented. If you try it, use two identical amplifiers and remove the jumpers. Amplifiers may be damaged if jumpers are not removed.
How to clean the speaker and grille?
For the cabinet, use a dry cloth. Never use abrasive products, solvents, or strong detergents. For the grille, you can clean it with a vacuum brush. Avoid wetting the speaker.
What warranty applies to this product?
In the USA and Canada, the warranty is 5 years against defects in materials and workmanship (except for electronic components which are warranted for 2 years). For other countries, the warranty is according to local laws and depends on the distributor. Keep the proof of purchase.
Can I wall mount the speaker?
Yes, some models of the Reference series (including the RB61 II) have keyhole slots on the back for direct wall mounting. Use a screw with a suitable head, fixed into a wall stud or with anchors appropriate for the speaker weight. See figure 4 in the manual for details. Optional brackets may also be used.
What to do if the speaker does not work?
First check connections: polarity correct, cables well inserted, amplifier on. Make sure jumpers are in place (except if bi-wiring). Test with another source. If the problem persists, contact an authorized Klipsch dealer. Do not attempt to repair the speaker yourself, as it contains no user-serviceable parts.
How to set bass management in the receiver?
In the speaker setup menu of your receiver, set the RB61 II speakers to 'Large' if you want them to reproduce all frequencies. If using a subwoofer, set them to 'Small' to direct extreme lows to the sub. This setting is recommended for speakers with a woofer smaller than 6.5 inches.
