GB STEAM IRON OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Dear customer, IMETEC would like to thank you for purchasing this product. We are certain that you will
appreciate the quality and reliability of this appliance, which has been designed and manufactured with
customer satisfaction in mind. These operating instructions were created in accordance with European
Instructions and information for a safe use
Please read these instructions completely and in particular the safety instructions before
using your appliance and follow these instructions carefully. Keep these instructions and
the associated image section in a convenient location for reference over the entire service
life of the product and be sure to include it if you pass the appliance on to another user.

• After removing the appliance from its packaging, check the appliance’s integrity referring to the provided
design and for any damage caused during transport. Should you have any doubts, do not use the appliance
and take it to an authorised service centre.
• The packaging material is not suitable for children to play with! Keep the plastic bag out of the reach of
children as there is risk of suffocation!
• Before connecting the appliance, check that the voltage indicated on the identification plate corresponds to
that of the electrical supply available. The identification plate is on the appliance.
• This appliance must be used solely for the purpose for which it has been designed, that is as a boiler iron
for home use. Any other use is to be considered improper and therefore dangerous.
• If there is a fault and/or the appliance operates irregularly, switch it off and do not tamper with it. For any
repairs, only contact an authorised service centre.
DO NOT use the appliance with wet hands or with bare or damp feet.
DO NOT pull the power cord, or the appliance itself, to remove the plug from the socket.
DO NOT expose the appliance to humidity or weather conditions (rain, sun).
• Always disconnect the appliance from the mains supply before cleaning or maintenance and when the
appliance is not in use.
• The iron must only be used and rest on a stable surface. When the iron is placed on its iron rest, ensure the7
support surface is stable. The iron must not be used if it falls, if there are visible signs of damage or water leaks.
• If the power cord is damaged it must be replaced by an authorised technical service centre, so as to prevent

earthing system circuit as indicated by current electrical safety regulations. It is necessary to check this
fundamental safety precaution, and if in doubt, ask a professionally qualified technician to check the system.
This appliance can be used by minors older than 12 years of age, by persons with limited physical, sensorial
or mental faculties or by unskilled persons only if they are preventively instructed on its safe use and only if
informed on the hazards connected to the product.
Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance on the appliance cannot be done by
children without adult supervision.
Keep the appliance and the power cord out of reach of children under 12 years of age when the appliance is
switched on or in the cooling down phase.
NEVER immerse the iron, cord or plug in any liquid.
DO NOT leave the hot iron touching fabrics or very inflammable surfaces.
DO NOT leave the iron without supervision when it is connected to the power supply.
DO NOT release steam when the iron is on its mat.
DO NOT use chemical additives, scented substances or descalers.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS The appliance was designed to function with tap water, however if the local water is too calcareous, mix tap
water (50%) with distilled and/or demineralised water (50%); in coastal areas, the salt concentration in water
is very high: In these cases, “demineralised water for irons” sold on the market must be used. When in doubt,
use only demineralised water for irons.

BEFORE USE Divide the laundry to be ironed according to the international symbols on the care labels, or alternatively,
according to the type of fabric.
Start by ironing garments that require a low temperature, to cut down on waiting time (the iron takes less time
to heat up than it does to cool down), and avoid the risk of singeing the fabric.
synthetics, acrylic, nylon and polyester: low temperatures;
wool, silk: medium temperatures;
cotton, linen: high temperatures;
fabric requires no ironing.
FILLING THE RESERVOIR Lift the lid on the water reservoir (8) and fill the reservoir with water. Do not allow the water to overflow. Then

• press the ON/OFF switch (1).

clothes, and wait for the temperature light to switch off (10);
• turn the steam nozzle (3) to obtain the desired quantity of steam;
• when the steam is ready, the light (2) will remain switched on. You can now start ironing. While ironing,
the steam light (2) and iron temperature light (10) will turn on or switch off, indicating that the appliance is
maintaining optimal pressure and temperature;
• to iron with steam, press the steam button (12);
• to iron without steam, do not press the steam button (12).

FILLING THE RESERVOIR WHILE IRONING
• if the water in the reservoir falls below the minimum level, the water light will come on (4) and the iron will
stop producing steam;
• lift the lid on the water reservoir (8) and fill the reservoir with water. Do not allow the water to overflow. Then

CLEANING THE BOILER The boiler should be cleaned regularly, at least once every 3 months.
When the boiler needs cleaning, the steam light (2) will flash for 20 seconds when the iron is turned on. The
light will then remain switched on and you can begin ironing.
The steam light (2) will flash whenever the iron is turned on, until the boiler is cleaned.
Only clean the boiler when the iron is completely cold.
Sequence of operations:
• disconnect the plug (7) from the mains;
• hold the boiler above a sink;
• shake the base to allow flakes of lime scale to fall out (Fig. B);
• remove the cap cover (13) at the base of the boiler, turning it anti-clockwise (Fig.C);
• unscrew the cleaning cap (14) in an anti-clockwise direction, using a coin (Fig. D);
• allow the water and flakes of lime scale to flow out of the hole;
• shake the boiler again, to remove any remaining water or lime scale;
• tighten the cleaning cap (14) in a clockwise direction, using a coin;
• replace the cap cover (13) turning it in a clockwise direction.
• do not screw the cleaning cap (14) too tightly, as you may damage the screw thread;
• do not clean the boiler with detergent, anti-lime scale products, vinegar or any other type of
• cleaning should only be done when the boiler is cold, at least 4 hours after it has been turned off.
After cleaning, always fill the reservoir with water before using the boiler again. This must
be done in order to prevent overheating.

• wait until the iron is completely cool before laying it flat. It is not necessary to empty the water reservoir.

GB MAINTENANCE Cleaning the iron:
Before cleaning your iron, turn it off and remove the plug from the socket!
If necessary, clean the iron with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents or other harsh, abrasive detergents, as they
may damage the surface.
Before re-using the appliance, check that all the cleaned parts are completely dry!
DISPOSAL The packaging is made from recyclable materials. It should be disposed of in accordance with
