How to clean the TriStar BR1017 toaster?

Unplug the appliance and let it cool. Clean the exterior with a soft cloth dampened with soapy water. Remove the crumb tray to empty crumbs. Never use metal objects inside to avoid damaging the heating elements.

How to use the defrost function?

Place bread in slots, select desired browning level, then press the defrost button. The function defrosts then toasts the bread. Do not use without bread.

How to reheat already toasted bread?

Press the reheat button after lowering the handle. This function warms the bread without further cooking.

What to do if bread gets stuck?

First unplug the appliance and let it cool. Turn it over to remove crumbs. Do not attempt to remove bread with a metal object. Use wooden or plastic tongs if necessary.

Why does my toaster emit smoke the first time?

This is normal during first use. Run the toaster empty once to burn off manufacturing residues. Ensure good ventilation.

How to choose the right browning level?

Turn the timer from 1 (light) to 7 (very toasted). Start at level 4 for a medium result. Adjust according to your preference.

Can I use an extension cord?

No, using an extension cord is prohibited for safety reasons. Plug directly into a wall outlet.

How to store the cord?

Under the appliance there is a cord storage space. Wrap it and slide it into the compartment.

What to do if the handle does not stay down?

Check that the appliance is plugged in and the timer is set to a position other than 0. The handle stays down only when the appliance is powered.

How to use the bun warmer rack?

Place the rack over the slots to heat buns or baguettes. Do not put bread in the slots at the same time.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• Read all instructions before use.
• Do not touch the hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect yourself against an electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or appliance in the water or any other liquid.
• Unplug the appliance from the socket when you are not using it or if you have to clean it.
• Allow the device to cool down before you are going to remove or replace spare parts.
• Do not use this appliance with a damaged cord or plug or when the appliance has malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner.

How To uSe

• Remove all packaging of the device.
• Check if the voltage of the appliance corresponds to the main voltage of your home. Rated voltage: AC220-240V 50Hz.
• Place the device on a flat stable surface and ensure a minimum of 10 cm. free space around the device. This device is not suitable for installation in a cabinet neither for outside use.

BeFoRe THE FIRST uSe

Before toasting for the first time, preheat the appliance without inserting any bread. This will disperse some smoke and a bad smell, this is normal and not dangerous for your health.

uSe

1. Place the bread slices in the slot and turn the time controller to the preferred position (from level 1 till level 7 for light to deep toasting).
2. We advice to start halfway in position 4 for medium toasting. After some use you will automatically choose the toasting level you prefer.*
3. Push the lift handle down, when the toasting level is reached the bread slice will automatically be ejected.
4. The lift handle which lowers the bread will only stay down when the power is on.
5. If you wish to interrupt the toasting untimely, press the cancel button.
6. You can use the "defrost" button to defrost your bread without toasting it.
7. The "reheat" button can be used to reheat already toasted bread without browning it.
8. The toaster is equipped with the with a bun warmer, this rack can be used for warming up buns and baguettes.

cleaNING aND maINTeNaNce

1. Unplug the appliance and let it cool down.
2. Wipe the external parts with a soft cloth moistened with soapy water. Do not use abrasive products.
3. Pull out the crumb tray and remove the crumbs. By using the device frequently, repeat this every week.
4. Do not use a metal object (fork, knife ....) to clean the inside of the appliance as this may damage the heating elements.
5. When the appliance is out of order, you can store the power cord under the appliance.

• This appliance is covered with a 24 months guarantee starting on the date of purchase (receipt).
• Damage caused by not following the instruction manual, will lead to a void of warranty, if this results in consequential damages Tristar will not be liable.
• Tristar will not be liable for material damage or personal injury caused by improper use or if the safety instructions are not properly executed. Cleaning as mentioned in this manual, is the only maintenance that is necessary for this appliance.
• When the application should be repaired, make sure that this will be performed by an authorized company.
  • This appliance is for household use only.
  • This appliance may not be amended or changed.

• If problems arise during the 24 months from the date of purchase, which are covered by the factory warranty, you can go back to the point of purchase to replace it for a new one.

• Only material or manufacturing defects are included in this warranty.

• Tristar is not liable for damages occurred through:
  o In case the appliance has fallen
  o In case the appliance has been technically changed by the owner or an other third party
  o In case of improper use of the appliance
  o In case of normal wear of the appliance
• By executing repairs the original warranty period of 24 months will not be extended, nor the right to a complied new warranty. This warranty is only legal on European soil. This warranty does not overrule the European directive 1944/44CE.
• For questions or compliances please contact your retailer "point of purchase".
• Always keep your receipt, without this receipt you can not claim any form of warranty whatsoever.
• If you wish to make a claim please return the entire machine together with the receipt.
• Damage to accessories does not mean automatic free replacement of the whole appliance. In such cases please contact our hotline. Broken glass or breakage of plastic parts are always subject to a charge.
• Defects to consumables or parts subject to wearing, as well as cleaning, maintenance or the replacement of said parts are not covered by the guarantee and hence are to be paid!
• The guarantee lapses in case of unauthorized tampering.
• After the expiry of the guarantee repairs can be carried by the competent dealer or repair service against the payment of the ensuing costs.
