IV. GETTING STARTED

Before any intervention on product, ensure that product is disconnected from its power source.
4.1- Unpacking
- Remove product from its packaging.
- Check that product and accessories are not damage
4.2- Scope of supply
- Pool circulating pump
- Installation and Operating Instructions.
4.3- Description of the pool circulating pump (Fig. 1)
The pump housing is constructed of fiberglass reinforced plastics for use near swimming pools.
The pump is of the canned-rotor type, self-priming and with single motor.
The inlet port is equipped with a lint strainer in order to prevent coarse impurities entering and jamming the pump.
Standard thermal overload contacts (WKS) prevent damage to the pump due to excess current draw.
The WSK is, however, only effective in conjunction with an appropriate switch-box.
The pump draws water from the pool, e.g. via a skimmer and pumps it back to the pool via the filter. The suction pump and the filter must be installed closed to each other.
Resistance to chemicals are limited by the following limits:
- Max. water temperature: +35^ C
- pH-value: min. 6; max. 7.8
- Free chlorine: 0.2 up to max. 2.0 mg / l (or ppm). Short term limit e.g. for reconditioning of pool water max. 20 ppm.
- Free chlorides: max. 250mg / l
- The pump is not suitable to handle sea or salted water.
- The pump must not be used to handle water conditioned by Sodium Hypochlorit (by electrolysis)
- Pump must not run dry.
4.4- Pump set-up
Remarks:
Only competent personnel should perform the assembly.
The user must contract a qualified and skilled person having read the contents of the manual.
Works on the filter pump should take place with the pump disconnected from its power source.
Take into account the data written on the nameplate.
The installation must be carried out in compliance with local and/or national laws by qualified personnel so as to avoid danger.

Fig.3
4.4.1- Installation
- Install the pool circulating pump on a horizontal and flat surface.
- Glue PVC suction and discharge pipes to pump union connections.
- Dimensions for installation and connections are given in Table 2.2
- Measured from suction inlet connection (Fig.3), the pump can be mounted up to 5 meters below pool water level and up to 2 meters above pool water level,
- The most suitable mounting level is below the pool water level. The pump then operates under flooded suction (without suction lift).
- On principle suction lines should be as short as possible.
- If it is necessary to mount the pump above pool water level, the suction pipe (from pool to the pump) should preferably be run full-length horizontally below water level and only rise directly at the pump. The suction line will then, on shut down of filter pump, only slightly be emptied.
- If the sand filter is placed above water level and with an additionally long suction run, the circulating pump should preferably be mounted separate from the filter close to the pool below water level.
- When operating with a suction lift, light-weight but positively sealing non-return valve should be fitted at the lowest point of the suction line. They will assist in maintaining the water level in the suction line during standstill of the filter plant.
- These check valves must, for the ease of cleaning, be easily accessible and removable.
- Total lengths of the circulating pipe work must not exceed 30 metres.
4.4.2- Electrical wiring

-
As an effective protection against disastrous effects of earth fault currents it is required to install an earth fault circuit interrupter (Fl-switch) for the total electrical circuitry of the pool system. Trip current 30mA .
-
An all-pole isolation switch (min. contact gap 3mm ) must be installed in the power supply cable. As a protection from excessively high shock voltage it is required to connect all metallic parts at pool bottom and walls with a potential compensation wiring. This copper wire, minimum size 10mm2 , should be connected to a specially set and earthed potential compensating bus bar, which is to be separately connected to the earth wire of the power supply.
- The earthing resistance of the potential compensating wire must be less than 800 ohms in order to restrict the shock voltage to less than 24V in case of a fault.
- A switchbox must be provided on site by others to ensure the thermal overload contacts (WSK) of the pump motor to be effective.

- Electrical work to be carried out by qualified and licensed electricians in strict conformity to
ruling national standards and local regulations.
- Check available power supply data
- Observe pump name plate data
- Power supply fuses: 10A, inert action
- Baseplate (on site by others) to be earthed
- Degree of protection: IPX5
- The pump motor is internally equipped with thermal overload contacts (WSK).
Ensure that respective terminals are available in the filter switch-box.
4.4.3- Terminals
Effect on-site wiring according to the following wiring diagram.

Fig.4
- Pool and balance tank (if applicable) must be filled
- Close all insolating valves
- Undo cover nut (3) of the strainer assembly with the ring spanner and remove the strainer cover (4). ATTENTION! The line strainer must be filled with water after draining the pipe system. This ensures priming ability of the pump in case of filter plant installation above pool water level.
- Reposition of lint strainer cover (4) and secure by tightening with the ring spanner. ATTENTION! Pump must never be on without a lint strainer (9)!
- Open isolating valves.
- Switch on pump or switchbox respectively.
- If using switch gear with integral electronic overload control, it must be adjusted to the full load current value of the motor.
- Dry running for a short period will not damage the pump. However, dry running for a long time is not recommended.
V- OPERATION
5.1- Intended use
- Swimming pool pumps are pumps intended for domestic use, for private swimming pools.
- The product is intended for pumping swimming pools water.
- The pump is resistant to chemicals commonly used to treat swimming pools water. Nevertheless, it does not resist to sea water or salted water
5.2- Tips
- The pump must be positioned horizontally, ensure that it is stable during operation.
Suction holes should never be blocked.
Warning! Never run dry the pump.
2. If the discharge stops while the pump continues to run, immediately cut the power.
Unplug from socket and check the cause of the problem.
Never try to clear the turbine while the pump is still connected to the mains power.
- The pump is equipped with a motor protected by a thermal protection with auto_restart.
In case of overheating, the motor stops automatically. As soon as the temperature returns to normal, the engine restarts.
A Do not approach hands around the turbine during this phase.
If an intervention is necessary, remove the plug from mains power socket.
- The pump must not be used to suck corrosive liquids or solids, combustible or explosive. Do not use to pump food liquids (e.g. water, fruit juices, alcohol beverages...)
The max temperature of water should not exceed 35^ .
Any other use different from that stated in these instructions may cause damage to the pump and pose a serious danger to the user
VI-Maintenance

Before any intervention on product, ensure that product is disconnected from its power source.
6.1- Cleaning
- Carry out regular pump rinsing with clear water.
- Avoid pumping liquid containing abrasive materials, sand ...
- Before re-starting; ensure the proper condition of each part.
- Filter cleaning: rinse regularly or when the first sign of malfunction appears
- If not located in a frost-free location (e.g. open-air pools), ensure that circulating pumps are drained during winter together with the filter plant.
This is done by undoing the drain plugs (7) at the pump with suitable tool.
The PVC screws are prone to damage. Drain plugs to be fastened hand-tight only.
-
The lint strainer (9) must be checked and cleaned from time to time.
-
The O-ring gasket (5) and its seat must be kept clean.
-
The filter gasket (8) must be repositioned such that the groove at the top ring fits the locating knob in the seating of the strainer housing.
-
Before re-starting; ensure that o-rings are in good condition and check proper assembly of connection to avoid any leakage.
-
In the case of a pump failure, first switch-off the motor; the stator housing can then be separated from the pump housing by undoing and removing the eight holding -down screws (10). When re-assembling, ensure correct seating of the two O-ring washers (8).
Screws to be tightened cross- wise. Removal and re- assembly of the stator housing must only be done by qualified personnel.
- For repair or maintenance that requires disassembly of electrical parts, it is imperative to contact qualified personnel or a service centre (see your local reseller).
