Where to install the DETEC FUM DFR TYXAL smoke detector?

Install the detector preferably on the ceiling, in the center of the room, at least 20 cm from any obstacle and at least 60 cm from corners. If mounted on the wall, place it between 15 and 25 cm from the ceiling. Avoid kitchens, bathrooms, unventilated garages, and areas with heating or air conditioning vents.

How to test the smoke detector?

Press the 'test' button on the cover for a few seconds. The indicator lights up and the detector emits two beeps. Perform this test at least once a month and after each battery change.

What to do if the detector beeps every 40 seconds?

This signal indicates a low battery. Replace the battery with a new one (Lithium 9V or CR123 depending on the model). Use only non-rechargeable batteries.

How to clean the smoke detector?

Once a year, remove the detector and clean the side slots with a vacuum cleaner fitted with a soft brush. Wipe the outside of the cover with a slightly damp cloth.

What is the battery life of the detector?

The battery life is 10 years. It is strongly recommended to replace the entire detector after 10 years to ensure optimal protection.

Can the detector be linked to an alarm system?

How to link the detector to a siren?

Put the siren in pairing mode (see its manual). Press the T2 button on the siren for 5 seconds until the red LED lights up steadily. Then press the button on the detector for 5 seconds. The siren beeps to confirm. Briefly press T2 to exit the mode.

What are the warranty conditions?

DELTA DORE warrants the detector (excluding battery) against any manufacturing defect for 5 years from the date of purchase. To claim the warranty, return the detector with proof of purchase to DELTA DORE, Bonnemain. Shipping costs are at your expense.

Can the detector be installed in a bathroom?

No, bathrooms and laundry rooms should be avoided due to the risk of condensation which can damage the detector or cause false alarms.

How to change the detector battery?

Separate the two parts of the housing, remove the old battery and insert a new Lithium 9V battery respecting the polarity. Reassemble the detector on its base. Do not use rechargeable batteries.

The detector can be associated with a DELTA DORE wireless X3D alarm and control system.

Functional check and maintenance:

You must check that your detector is functional once a month or after each battery change.

Pressing the "test" button on the case for a few seconds will light up the LED and the detector will emit 2 beeps.

Do not try to trigger the alarm any other way (using a lighter, etc.) because you could damage the detector or even start a fire.

Your detector has been designed to require the minimum maintenance possible. However, some simple actions need to be performed once a year. After having removed the detector:

• Clean the cracks in the detector (located on the side) with a vacuum cleaner, using a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner accessory.
• Use a slightly damp cloth to clean the outside of the case.

Locations to avoid

Do not install the detector:

• Within a metre from vents for heating, cooling or circulating air.

The smoke could be blown away from the detector or be diluted.

• In a place where the temperature could drop beneath 0^ or rise above +50^ ;
  risk of detector not working correctly.
• In a place where there is a risk of condensation. Bathrooms and laundry rooms are not recommended.
• Places where smoke could gather (kitchen or poorly ventilated garage) and cause false alarms.
  In a place that is excessively dusty.

2. Location

Recommended locations:

In the home:

• For enhanced protection:

• Place a detector in each room, avert using listed places to avoid.

• For basic protection:

• Place a detector on each floor.

• Place a detector close to sleeping areas (for example, in the corridor leading to rooms; in the case of a long corridor >10m , place 1 detector at each end).
• Place a detector in each bedroom occupied by a smoker.

In the room:

• The detector should preferentially be attached to the ceiling in the middle of the room. Otherwise, attach it more than 20cm from any obstacle (partition wall, beam, etc.) and over 60cm from any room corner.
• If this is impossible, attach the detector to the wall at a distance of between 15 and 25cm from the ceiling.
• In the case of an angled ceiling, attach the detector at a location between 20 and 90~cm vertically below the highest point.

3. Mounting

1 Separate the 2 parts of the unit.

Mark and drill fitting holes.
Attach the base with suitable fixings for mounting.

4. Activation

Note, 9V battery provided on reverse.

Install the 9V battery, ensuring it is installed in the correct direction. Remove the strip from the 3V battery.

Mount the detector on its base.
