Open the water tank (4) by swinging open the water tank lid (1). Pour the desired amount of cold water into the water tank (4).

Caution: When using the thermal beaker (9), ensure that you fill the water tank (4) only to the “MAX” mark, otherwise the coffee might overflow and cause scalding. The water-level indicator (5) applies to the amount of cold water needed to brew the desired number of cups of coffee (@ 125ml). Close the water tank lid (1). Open the filter (3) by flipping the filter lid (2) upwards. Take a size 2 paper filter, fold over the stamped edge and place it into the filter (3). The paper filter should not protrude over the edge of the filter. If necessary, push it down slightly with your hand. Add the required amount of ground coffee. Note: Depending on your personal taste, use approx. 5-7g of medium-fine ground coffee per cup. If the coffee is ground too finely, the filter (3) may overflow. Close the filter lid (2). Stand the thermal jug (8) or thermal mug (9) on the device. Now insert the mains plug into the socket.

If the coffee is to be prepared immediately, press the on/off button (7), the preparation starts. You can stop the brewing process at any time by pressing the stop button (7). Caution: Danger of scalding through remaining coffee in the filter. Wait a few minutes before removing the thermal jug/beaker. Note: After the brewing cycle has finished, the control lamp (7) switches off after a few minutes. This indicates that no larger quantities of coffee are left in the filter (3) and the thermal jug/beaker can be removed. A drip-stop valve prevents subsequent dripping.

If coffee brewing should start automatically at the programmed switch-on time, press the timer button ( ). The currently set switch-on time appears on the display. Use the + and - buttons to set the time at which you want brewing to start. Confirm this within 5 seconds by pressing the on/off button (7). The current time appears on the display (6). WMF Aroma Perfection

The WMF Aroma Perfection function can be activated to brew stronger, more aromatic coffee. It is particularly recommended for preparing smaller amounts. To do this, press the Aroma (“+”) button. The symbol appears on the display (6). Now start the brewing process using the on/off button (7). Please note that the preparation time is slightly longer. Stand the thermal jug or thermal mug on the device. You can cancel brewing at any time by pressing the on/off button (7) again. Wait a few minutes until all of the coffee has run into the thermal jug/beaker. A drip-stop valve prevents coffee dripping when you remove the thermal jug/beaker.

The automatic shut-off function prevents overheating when the device is in use. The appliance switches itself off after a few minutes and the control lamp on the on/off button (7) extinguishes when all the water has passed through. The appliance may be switched off prematurely by pressing the on/off button (7) . This may be necessary, for example, if you accidentally start the appliance without water. Note: You must wait for a few minutes before removing the thermal jug/beaker or pouring water into the hot device. Allow the coffee machine to cool beforehand. 14

The thermal jug and thermal beaker best keep contents warm when filled to the maximum level. The time the content is kept warm may be reduced significantly if the jug/beaker is only partially filled or almost empty.

Note: It is best to rinse the thermal jug/beaker with hot water before use. To seal, turn the lid in a clockwise direction until it sits snugly on the thermal jug/beaker. To pour, press the pour button on the lid. To open the thermal jug/beaker, turn the lid slightly counter-clockwise. The thermal jug and thermal beaker are made of double-walled Cromargan® and therefore completely shatter-proof. However, they should be protected against mechanical stresses nevertheless. Rinse out the thermal jug/beaker regularly. If iron particles from water accumulate on the Cromargan® surface, they can cause pitting at those points. These deposits must therefore be removed immediately with a stainless steel cleanser.

Use a commercially available descaling agent that is suitable for filter coffee machines.

Do not use regular or concentrated vinegar because this may damage the materials in the appliance. Use of descaling agents based on citric acid may lead to the formation of precipitates that seal the limescale layer or clog up the lines in the appliance. Descaling with citric acid also takes too long, as a result of which complete descaling cannot be guaranteed. Our warranty does not cover damage caused by using unsuitable descaling agents or failing to comply with the descaling instructions. Handle descaling agents carefully to prevent damaging furniture or clothing.

▪▪ Insert a paper filter in the filter (3), close the filter lid (2), and place the thermal jug (8) in the machine. Any larger pieces of limescale residue may collect on the filter paper, thus preventing the outlet valve from clogging.

▪▪ Add descaling agent to the water tank (4) as per the manufacturer’s instructions, fill with tap water up to the 5-cup mark and switch the appliance on. ▪▪ After the descaling solution has passed through, empty the thermal jug (8), switch off the appliance and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Important: Rinse the water tank (4) after descaling. To do so, open the tank cover (1), fill the tank with fresh tap water up to the 5-cup mark and start the brewing procedure. Then rinse the filter (3) and thermal jug (8) under running water. Note: In the event of heavy calcification, repeat the descaling process.

Unplug the mains plug and allow the appliance to cool down. Do not immerse the appliance in water. Outer surfaces can be cleaned using a damp cloth and a little washing-up liquid. Do not use harsh or abrasive cleaning agents. The filter (3), thermal jug (8) and thermal beaker (9) can be cleaned under running water. Alternatively, you can also clean them in the dishwasher.

Limescale deposits extend brewing times and lower the quality of your coffee. They also lead to energy losses and impair the service life of the appliance. The automatic scale indicator determines when it is time for descaling. Depending on coffee consumption and the set water hardness, you may be prompted to descale every 4-6 weeks. This is indicated when the descaling symbol ( ) is displayed permanently.

Setting the water hardness

Starting the descaling programme

To start the descaling programme, press and hold down the descaling button (-) for about 3 seconds until the display shows the currently set water hardness (H1, H2, H3 or H4) and the descaling symbol. Press the on/off button within 5 seconds to start the descaling programme. The word “CALC” and the descaling symbol ( ) appear in the display.

Your appliance has an automatic scale indicator. To prevent too much limescale building up, the appliance is set for very hard water by default. Ask the responsible waterworks or local authorities about the hardness of your tap water. Change the default setting if the water hardness is less than 21°dH.

You will then not be prompted to descale as often as before. To this end, press and hold the descaling button (the - button) for about 3 seconds until the display (6) shows the currently set water hardness (H1, H2, H3 or H4) and the descaling symbol ( ). Press the + or - button to adjust the water hardness. Confirm the setting by pressing the timer button ( ). Hardness range

1° dH corresponds to about 0.18 mmol/l Ca and Mg ions
