Frequently Asked Questions - M-CUBE SUBWOOFER MISSION

How do I connect the M-Cube subwoofer to my receiver?
Strip and connect the wires from the umbilical cord to the receiver's speaker outputs. Each wire is labeled (LFE, front, etc.). Connect the multi-pin plug to the 'SPEAKER INPUT' on the subwoofer and the LFE cable to the 'LFE IN' input. All channels must be connected for the subwoofer to work.
How do I activate the auto power function?
Select 'AUTO POWER ON' on the rear panel. The subwoofer will enter standby after about 15 minutes of no signal and will automatically reactivate when a signal is detected. If you prefer it to stay on permanently, choose 'AUTO POWER OFF'.
What settings optimize the bass?
Use the fine adjustment (Transition) to adjust the upper bass output (250-300 Hz). The Bass Contour control extends the bass (MAX for movies, MIN for music). The Phase control helps achieve consistent bass.
What if the subwoofer remains silent?
Check all connections, ensure the receiver is on the correct input channel, the volume is not at zero, the subwoofer's power indicator is on, and the source is powered on.
How do I clean the subwoofer?
Use only a soft dry cloth. Do not use a damp cloth or abrasive products to avoid electric shock and preserve the finish.
Can I use the subwoofer with a TV?
Yes, but place it at least 50 cm from the TV. Check your TV manual before placing a center speaker on top of it.
How do I install the feet on hard floor or carpet?
On hard floor, remove the film from the four self-adhesive feet and stick them into the recesses on the base. On carpet, use the self-adhesive pads, then screw in the spikes and lock nuts to level the subwoofer.
What does Overdrive protection mean?
An overload detection circuit limits the output to a fixed level if exceeded. If this occurs, lower the receiver volume to restore optimal performance.
What is the power and frequency response of the subwoofer?
The nominal power is 200 W (THD 1%). The frequency response is 28 Hz to 300 Hz (-6 dB) with a transition of 250-300 Hz.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Fill out and return the warranty card within 8 days of purchase. Keep the receipt. For repairs, contact your dealer. Outbound shipping is your responsibility, return shipping may be charged if the product is not defective.

  8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
  9. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.

  10. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.

  11. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
  12. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

MISSION M-CUBE SUBWOOFER - ENGLISH - 1

The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.

MISSION M-CUBE SUBWOOFER - ENGLISH - 2

The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the product.

Warning: If using spikes make sure that they do not pierce mains cables etc. under/above the carpet.

When making any connections, switch your amplifier off.

Do not subject your subwoofer to excessive cold, heat, humidity or sunlight.

Position your subwoofer at least 0.5m away from TV sets, computers etc. Some manufacturers forbid the placing of objects on top of their TV sets. Check your TV handbook before installing the centre speaker directly on your TV set. Consult your TV dealer if you are in any doubt.

When you switch on your system or change sources, set the volume control at minimum and turn the level up gradually.

Position hi-fi electronics away from the subwoofer on a rigid stand or cabinet.

Do not connect your loudspeakers to the mains supply, except for subwoofoers.

Retain all packaging materials so that your subwoofer can be repacked and shipped without damage.

Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.

Do not use your amplifier at full volume.

When an amplifier is driven beyond its power output capabilities it will produce distortion which will quickly damage your speakers by overheating. Make sure that your amplifier is not left unattended when playing, for

example at parties, and turn the volume control down at the first sign of audible distortion.

Avoid extreme settings of tone controls or graphic equalisers. Ideally, they should be set 'flat' or, if possible, bypassed. Ensure that all loudspeakers in the system are correctly wired and are in phase.

Do not attempt to dismantle the subwoofer. There are no user serviceable parts inside and you will render the warranty void.

To power up the unit, firstly insert the mains plug into the mains socket, and insert the IEC plug into the IEC mains inlet in the subwoofer. Then turn the mains switch at the back of the subwoofer to the 'ON' position.

CONTROLS OVERVIEW

The M-Cube subwoofer has been factory-set to operate in 'default' mode. The default settings are shown in the diagram. You may wish to adjust one or more of the subwoofer controls to tailor the M-Cube response to your own taste.

MISSION M-CUBE SUBWOOFER - CONTROLS OVERVIEW - 1

CONTROLS

FINE VOLUME

This fine tunes the subwoofer output level.

CROSSOVER

Increasing this control (towards '300Hz) will increase the upper bass output from the subwoofer; decreasing this control (towards '250Hz) will reduce the upper bass output.

BASS CONTOUR

Increasing this control towards 'MAX' will give more bass extension and impact, at the expense of some speed and fidelity (more suited to movie playback). Decreasing this control towards 'MIN' will provide tighter, more detailed bass, at the expense of some weight and impact (more suited to music playback). At high listening levels, avoid settings close to 'MAX' for optimum performance.

PHASE

Correctly adjusting this control will help to obtain even-sounding upper bass.

OVERDRIVE PROTECTION

Your M-Cube subwoofer is protected by sophisticated overdrive detection circuitry:

If the safe operating threshold is exceeded, the subwoofer's internal gain circuitry will limit the output to a fixed level. The subwoofer will continue to play at the same level, but with reduced dynamic capability compared to the original recording.

If you notice the protection circuitry activating, you will need to reduce the receiver volume in order to regain maximum performance from your system.

Warning: Be careful. Spikes are very sharp.

When positioning the subwoofer avoid piercing any electrical cables etc. under or above the carpet.
