How to install the VIDEOCAM MESSENGER camera?

Insert the provided CD, run the installation program (or launch D:\SETUP.EXE from the Start menu). Install the driver first, then DirectX. Then connect the camera to a USB port.

What to do if the installation screen does not appear automatically?

Go to the Start menu, click Run, type D:\SETUP.EXE (if your CD drive is D:) and press Enter.

How to take a photo with the camera?

In the Genius VideoCAM software interface, use the Snapshot mode. Press the capture button located to the right of the circle. You can also send the photo by email or enable continuous capture.

How to record a video?

Switch to Video Clip mode. Press the Start button to begin recording and Stop to end. You can convert AVI files to MPEG-1.

How to use the surveillance system?

Activate Security Monitoring System mode. It automatically records detected movements. If there is no movement, recording stops after 4 seconds. You can adjust sensitivity and alert sounds.

Is the camera compatible with Skype?

The manual mentions compatibility with MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger and CUSeeMe. Skype is not listed, but the camera should work as a standard webcam with applications that recognize USB video devices.

How to uninstall the software?

Go to the Start menu, then Programs, VideoCAM Messenger, and choose Uninstall. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Where are videos and photos saved?

Files are saved by default in the C:\WINDOWS\Album folder.

How to adjust focus?

Turn the lens ring located around the lens to adjust image sharpness.

What to do if the computer does not detect the camera?

Make sure you have installed the driver before connecting the camera. If the problem persists, completely uninstall the software and driver, then reinstall following the order: driver first, then USB connection.

Please install the driver first and then connect VideoCAM Messenger to the USB port.

Please read the important notice before the installation.

1. Installing VideoCAM Messenger software

a. Insert the VideoCAM Messenger software CD into the CD-ROM drive. b. After a few seconds, the setup screen will show the picture of VideoCAM Messenger. Click "Utility Driver" and then simply follow the on-screen instructions. c. Please remember to install DirectX from the CD-ROM.

Notice:

If the setup screen doesn't show the picture of VideoCAM Messenger, please proceed with the following installation:

• Go to the taskbar and click Start, then Run.
• Type D:\SETUP.EXE, then press the Enter key.

(Suppose your CD-ROM is in Drive D)

2. Connect the VideoCAM Messenger to your computer.

3. To get rid of the driver installation, please go to the taskbar and follow "Start →

Program → VideoCAM Messenger → VideoCAM Messenger Uninstall, then follow the on-screen instructions to remove the installation.

4. You can install the recognition software for video conferencing or chat with your friends.

You can use the snapshot button to capture a still image or rotate the lens cover to adjust the focus.

5.4 Security Monitoring System

You can record any movements that appear in front of your monitor automatically. It can also record anytime until the HD is full. If there's no movement, it will shut down automatically after four seconds or until there is new movement. It's a great security monitoring system and you can set the software so it works at times when you're not around.

• Make sure to install the USB driver before connecting the device otherwise unable to install properly. If you encounter problems, uninstall the driver and software then follow the proper installation. The recording file will be retained in C:\WINDOWS\Album.

Microsoft Windows Messenger has been included with Microsoft Windows XP (or you can download from http://www.msnmessenger-download.com) to provide videoconferencing service.

Using MSN Messenger as for Videoconferencing

• If you are using MSN Messenger included with Windows XP, please follow the procedure as below:

Click the person's name you would like to connect with, then click the Start cameras button. The text message window will display the message: "You have asked to have a video and voice conversation. Please wait for a response or Cancel (Alt +Q) the pending invitation." The other person will click Accept or Decline to begin or terminate the video and voice conversation.

• If you download the MSN Messenger from the website

(http://www.msnMESSenger-download.com), please follow the procedure as below:

Click the person's name you would like to connect with, then click the Webcam button. The other person will click Accept or

Decline to begin or terminate the video and voice

conversation. Then click Get a webcam.

Yahoo Messenger Guide

From the main Messenger window, click the Tools menu, select Start My Webcam, then press the Broadcast button. Then press the camera icon on the toolbar, select the Friend menu and choose Invite to View My Webcam.

Click "Join a Group Video Chat and Meet CUWorld

"Members" on the main CUSeeMe window. The webpage of Join a CUworld Video Chatroom will appear. Select a channels link under the Chaves icon on the left of the webpage. Pick a Room from the list you want to join. You will automatically be launched into a video chat.

NOTE

Please make sure you already installed the camera driver and connect the camera to the computer before running video conferencing or video chat. Please make sure you close the other webcam program before running the video conferencing or video chat.
