How to connect the LIVE-FSH8SB switch to my network?

Plug the power adapter into the switch and a power outlet. Connect your devices (computers, router, etc.) using RJ-45 Ethernet cables to the switch ports. The Power LED should light up and the Link/Act LEDs corresponding to each port should light up or blink during activity.

What does the 'FDX/Col' LED mean when it blinks?

The FDX/Col (yellow) LED blinks in case of a collision on the network in half-duplex mode. If it is off, the port is operating in half-duplex without collision. If it is solid on, the port is in full-duplex.

Can I use a crossover cable with this switch?

Yes, the switch supports Auto-MDI/MDI-X on all ports. You can use either a straight-through or crossover cable to connect any device.

How to enable VLAN function on the LIVE-FSH8SB?

The LIVE-FSH8SB model does not have a VLAN selector. This function is only available on the LIVE-FSH16T+ model. For the FSH8SB, all ports are on the same network.

What is the maximum cabling distance between the switch and a device?

The maximum distance is 100 meters with Category 5 UTP or STP cable.

What to do if the Power LED does not light up?

Check that the power adapter is properly connected to the switch and a powered outlet. Try another outlet. If the LED remains off, the adapter or switch may be defective.

How to avoid a network loop?

Do not connect two ports of the switch together with a cable, and avoid connecting the switch to another switch redundantly without a spanning tree protocol. A loop can paralyze the network.

Can I connect a device at 10 Mbps full-duplex?

Yes, but ensure the device supports auto-negotiation. Otherwise, the switch may not detect the duplex mode correctly.

How to clean the switch?

Unplug the power before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use liquid or abrasive products.

What to do if a computer does not see others on the network?

Installation Steps

1. Remove the switch and accessories from the package
   Live-FSH8R, 16T+, Live-GSH5T, and Live-GSH8T only Attach the rubber pads to the bottom of the switch
   Live-FSH16T+v2 only If you want to use the VLAN function, please select VLAN mode. Please refer to "VLAN Selector" section for details
2. Connect power to the switch, make sure "Power" LED is on.

VLAN Selector (Live FSH16T+ only)

For normal operation, please make sure your VLAN switch is in "OFF" Position

Live-FSH16T+ is equipped with VLAN selector switch in the back panel. When activated, each port will be in its own VLAN group with 2 sharing ports. Ports in different VLAN groups cannot see each other. However, everyone can see the sharing port. Please make sure your VLAN selector is in "OFF" position if you are not using the VLAN function.

ON: Every port in its own VLAN group sharing Port 8 and 16
OFF: VLAN function off, the switch operates in normal mode

Connectivity Rules

Please avoid forming a network loop (see the diagram on the right) when connecting the cables. A network loop can cause the network to shutdown..

Always check the LED lights for trouble shooting
Computers and network devices must be in the same IP subnet in order to see each other. For example, 198.168.0.1 can not see 192.192.1.1 for Class C subnet. You can find out the computer's IP address by typing "IPCONFIG" in WinNT/2000/XP's command line. For Win9x, run "WINIPCFG".
- Avoid operating device in 10Mbps full duplex mode if the device does not have auto-negotiation function.
