ATTENTION
The sling gun must always be transported with great care in bags and backpacks specially designed to contain underwater spear guns and avoid contact with heavy or sharp objects.
ATTENTION
Each time you transport or store your sling gun, it is essential to protect the tip of the shaft with a protection tube.
ATTENTION
Don't remove or tamper with the safety catch, since your and others people's safety could depend on it. Seacsub will deny any responsibility, to people or things, to accidents due to items that have been tampered with, improper use or lacking maintenance.
MAIN FEATURES
Handle for Guun30, Guun (28) Mamba and Condor
The handle of your spear gun is the result of a deep research of ergonomics, ballistics and design.
The angle of the handle is made for long time studied and simulated, till to find the right angle, with the extended arm it is if the natural elongation of it, without tire the wrist, even after hours of hunting.
The angle of the handle had been studied and simulated for long time till to get the optimal slope: it results the natural extension of your arm when stretched, without tiring your wrist, even after hours of hunting.
The handle has a portion made in thermoplastic elastomer, to guarantee a perfect grip. The elastomeric component is mechanically joined, so it can be replaced easily.
The loading pad has a suitable size and it is available in two versions: the big one is assembled on all spear guns lengths except 50 and 60, where it is assembled the small version. Both versions are available as spare parts for hunters who like small size pad also with long guns.
The rear position of the release mechanism allows the use of longer shafts compared with other spear guns with the same commercial length and of elastic bands normally used for longer spear guns. The release mechanism is contents inside a case made in two parts, one made with a special technopolymer with very high mechanical features, while the part intended to contain and to lock the end of the shaft is made in stainless steel.
The release mechanism and the line release are made in stainless steel for all spear gun models.
seac
To the Guun versions (30 and 28) the trigger too is made in stainless steel and treated with a special and innovative “self-lubricating” coating to optimize the shooting effort.
To the MAMBA and CONDOR versions the trigger is made with a special technopolymer with very high mechanical properties.
The safety catch was designed with a specific shape and position on the handle to allow to the hunter to understand immediately if the speargun is in fire position (ready to shoot) or in safety position, without any possibility of mistake.
The seal between handle and aluminium barrel is guarantee by a separated and pivoting part, with two seals O-ring style. This system guarantees a perfect seal in any condition, especially in case of strong bending effort during the elastic bands loading during the loading procedure in the water and using very powerful elastic bends (slings). This system, designed by Seac, has been already used with success on other Seac models on the market since several years.
Aluminium Barrel
The barrel of all spearguns GUUN (30 and 28), Mamba and Condor Series are made in an aluminium alloy with high mechanical properties and suitable for use in sea water: they are made by extrusion technology, extrusion process allows to obtain the best performances from the material. All speargun models have shaft guide integrated on the barrel and a small rib along all the barrel length in the lower side; it has different use: to strengthen the barrel, as guide for the reel, as guide for the optional floater.
Guun 30 Guun 28 and Mamba muzzle
The GUUN 30, GUUN 28 and MAMBA muzzles are designed to bear two circular elastic bands (slings). The muzzle is "open style", in fact each of the two band [sling] seats have a opening in the lower side that allows to insert elastic bands (slings) already assembled with the wishbone, Dyneema style or with metallic bow, in this case the max dimension of the metallic bow to pass through the opening is 3mm . To the GUUN 30 and GUUN 28 at the end of the muzzles, on the upper side, it is not assembled the stainless steel bow (retainer of the shaft), because these models come out with the "shark style" shaft (with welded fins). Using this kind of shaft the shaft guide needs to be absolutely free, on the muzzle as well. In this case the shaft needs to be fixed to the muzzle tip with nylon line.
The stainless steel bow is assembled to the MAMBA muzzle, because this model is equipped with a standard Tahitian shaft style.
ATTENTION
in case of a "Shark style" shaft use to a MAMBA speargun, it will be necessary to remove the stainless steel bow before to use this kind of shaft, to avoid the "shark fins" hurt the metallic bow during the shot. The metallic bow is mechanically assembled to the muzzle, so it is easy to remove it from the muzzle, using a clamp.
This muzzle has an exclusive and smart line retainer system, in fact on the muzzle tip there are two small grooves between the muzzle body and the central hard rubber insert; the groove retains the nylon line during the loading operation and it allows to lock the shaft in easy way and facilitate the loading, especially in rough sea condition.
The seal between the muzzle and the aluminium barrel is guarantee by two o-rings.
Condor Muzzle
Classic style muzzle, it comes out with a pair of twin elastic bands (slings) with threaded bushing. It is also possible to assemble a supplementary circular sling (optional).
Wishbones
Depending on the speargun model and its relative equipment of shaft and elastic bands (slings), there are different wishbones style: Dyneema, stainless steel, articulated and fix styles.
Reel
The reel, in two dimensions (30 meters or 50 meters of line diameter 1.5 mm) is already assembled to GUUN 30 and 28, while it is an accessory for Mamba and Condor.
Correct assembly of the sling gun
- The sling gun is supplied with the monofilament kit to be assembled.
- In order to carry out this operation, it is first necessary to insert the connection sleeve on the monofilament, after which the monofilament must be inserted in the bore located on the shank of the spear. Ascertain that the loop that forms remains outside the triggering mechanism and immediately afterwards, proceed with the closure of the loop, using pliers on the sleeve.
- At this point, we recommend connecting the shaft and sliding the monofilament along the shaft to the muzzle.
- Continue with the running of the monofilament until it reaches the line release, after which, you must return towards the head and create another loop by passing the line inside the specific pierced plastic insert.
- Control the tension of the line so that it is close to the spear gun and firmly anchored to the line releaser. The final step is to close the second sleeve with pliers.
- The speargun is now ready for use.
ATTENTION
It is advisable to familiarize yourself with these movements in order to be able to carry them out easily whenever it is necessary to load the spear.
Attachment of the shaft
- Always check that the shaft is fixed firmly. The classic "click" tells you that the operation is complete, however as a safety precaution it is advisable to subsequently pull the shaft with your hands to be sure that it is properly in place.
- Activate the safety catch by shifting the system ahead in relation to the position of the handle. In some guns, movement is lateral. Now ensure that the trigger is blocked.
Correct assembly of the monofilament on the muzzle and on the line releaser
- Run the monofilament along the shaft until it reaches the muzzle. By passing the monofilament itself under the wing to the left or right side of the muzzle.
- Continue with the running of the monofilament until it reaches the line releaser, after which, insert the monofilament around the line releaser, pulling it slightly.
ATTENTION
It is advisable to familiarize yourself with these procedures in order to be able to carry them out easily whenever it is necessary to load the spear.
ATTENTION
If using a reel, the pierced plastic insert is only used as a line guide.
Use of the Slings and the articulate wishbone for loading
- It is advisable to always wear gloves when loading your sling gun.
- Hold the rubbers in front of the wishbone, holding them between your fingers while pulling the elastics.
- For placing the articulate wishbone on the first notch, we advise resting the handgrip, which has been designed for this purpose, against your weight belt in order to guarantee safe support during loading.
- In order to place it on the second notch, according to the individual's strength or the length of the speargun, a second positioning support is needed against the sternum. This will facilitate insertion of
the articulate wishbone into the last notch. This operation is usually required to use up the full power of the speargun.
- The correct positioning of the wishbone in the notch of the spear must be carefully controlled and followed by a slow release of the rubbers once loading has been completed.
Shooting the sling gun
- Now the sling gun is ready to be used, and as a final step, you must remove the safety catch that was previously inserted in order to be able to pull the trigger. It is advisable to always use extreme caution in using any underwater speargun as it is considered a weapon, for all intents and purposes.
ELEVEN IMPORTANT USEFUL RECOMMENDATIONS TO PREVENT RISK AND INJURY WHILE USING THE SLING GUN
1) Follow national and local laws concerning the use and transport of underwater spear guns and any relevant laws regarding minimum age limits for their use.
2) Do not load or attempt to load any underwater spear gun in a crowded place, or in the vicinity of beaches, public coastlines, marinas etc.
3) Always load the underwater spear gun in water, ensuring that all other persons remain at a safe distance.
4) Never, for any reason, aim the spear gun at any person or animal, even if the safety catch is inserted.
5] Always consider the safety catch as an extra precaution and not a foolproof safety system.
6) Ensure the speargun is correctly positioned before beginning the loading operation.
7] Mark your presence in the water with internationally and locally recognized signal buoys.
8) Never shoot any speargun near other divers or swimmers.
9) Do not use the underwater spear gun if it shows signs of wear on essential components this included shafts, slings, barbs, and the triggering mechanism. If in any doubt, do not use and immediately contact an authorized SEAC service centre for maintenance and assistance.
10) Never use any underwater speargun out of the water; given its power, it could be seriously damaged and potentially dangerous for people, animals and other objects.
11] Never, for any reason, transport or keep the spear gun loaded except when in use underwater.
ATTENTION
At the end of a day of fishing, we advise unloading the spear gun before returning to land. To do this correctly, first insert the safety catch, and then hold the elastic band with both hands just above the articulate wishbone, being very careful to release the wishbone from the spear by accompanying the elastics to the muzzle.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF THE SLING GUN
In order to maintain your speargun efficiently, you must follow the precautions below:
1) Following each dive, including those in fresh water lakes or rivers, the speargun must be rinsed outside with fresh running water. The use of de-mineralized water is recommended. Firstly, ensure that all water residues that have entered during diving are removed from the triggering mechanism. Finally, leave the speargun to dry without exposing it extensively to direct sunlight.
2) Periodically lubricate the triggering mechanism with silicone oil.
3) Never place the speargun near to sharp or heavy equipment that may cause damage to your speargun, for example, weight belts, cylinders, knives etc.
4) Avoid contact with oils, solvents, or gasoline.
5) If you believe you will not be using the spear gun for more than a month, it is advisable to rinse every part carefully and let it dry thoroughly in the shade. Keep it perfectly dry in a cool, aerated place.
6) At the end of a particularly intense season, or following a long period of inactivity, it is sound practice to leave the spear gun with an authorized service centre for a complete inspection.
We recommend that you contact your local SEAC service centre to perform all maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.
7] We also suggest periodic inspection for any wear to each of the component parts, pay particular attention to the muzzles, slings, shafts, barbs, triggering mechanism, and relative pins.
