Compact Disc Player ESPAÑOL < Do not expose this apparatus to drips or splashes. < Do not place any objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the apparatus. Before Use Read this before operation < When the unit is turned on, switching on the TV may result in lines appearing on the TV screen, depending on the condition of the electric waves of the TV broadcast. This is not a malfunction of the unit or the TV. In this case, turn off the unit. < As the unit may become warm during operation, always leave sufficient space around the unit for ventilation. < The voltage supplied to the unit should match the voltage as printed on the rear panel. If you are in any doubt regarding this matter, consult an electrician. < Choose the installation location of your unit carefully. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or close to a source of heat. Also avoid locations subject to vibrations and excessive dust, heat, cold or moisture. < Do not place the unit on an amplifier/receiver. < Do not open the cabinet as this might result in damage to the circuitry or an electrical shock. If a foreign object should get into the set, contact your dealer or service agency. < When removing the power plug from the wall outlet, always pull directly on the plug, never yank the cord. < Do not attempt to clean the unit with chemical solvents as this might damage the finish. Use a clean, dry cloth. < Keep this manual in a safe place for future reference. < The operations are illustrated using the European model as the example in this manual. DO NOT MOVE THE UNIT DURING PLAYBACK During playback, the disc rotates at a high speed. Do NOT lift or move the unit during playback. Doing so may damage the disc.

WHEN MOVING THIS UNIT

When changing the place of installation or packing the unit for moving, be sure to remove the disc and return the disc table to its original position in the player. Then, press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the standby, and disconnect the power cord. Moving this unit with a disc loaded may result in damage to this unit.

Discs Discs which can be played in this unit: M Conventional audio CDs bearing the COMPACT DISC DIGITAL AUDIO logo on the label. < Discs should be returned to their cases after use to avoid dust and scratches that could cause the laser pickup to ”skip”. < Do not expose discs to direct sunlight or high humidity and temperature for extended periods. Long exposure to high temperatures will warp the disc. < Do not play any disc that is warped, deformed or damaged. Playing such discs may cause irreparable damage to the playing mechanisms. M Properly finalized CD-R and CD-RW discs M MP3/WMA CDs < Printable CD-R and CD-RW discs are not recommended, as the label side might be sticky and damage the unit. < Do not stick papers or protective sheets on the discs and do not use any protective coating sprays. < Use a soft, oil-based felt-tipped pen to write information on the label side. Never use a ball-point or hard-tipped pen, as this may cause damage to the recorded side. < Never use a stabilizer. Using commercially available CD stabilizers with this unit will damage the mechanisms and cause them to malfunction. < If the disc becomes dirty, wipe the surface radially from the center hole outward towards the outer edge with a soft, dry cloth. < Never use chemicals such as record sprays, antistatic sprays or fluid or thinner to clean the discs. Such chemicals will do irreparable damage to the disc’s plastic surface. < Do not use irregularly shaped CDs (octagonal, heart shaped, business card size, etc.). CDs of this sort may damage the unit. < If you are in any doubt as to the care and handling of a CD-R/ CD-RW disc, read the precautions supplied with the disc, or contact the disc manufacturer directly.

ENGLISH Note: < Depending on the quality of the disc and/or the condition of the recording, some CD-R/CD-RW discs may not be playable. < Copy-protected discs and other discs which do not conform to the CD standard may not play back correctly in this player. If you use such discs in this unit, TEAC Corporation and its subsidiaries cannot be responsible for any consequences or guarantee the quality of reproduction. If you experience problems with such non-standard discs, you should contact the producers of the disc. < Always place the disc on the disc tray with the label side facing up. (Compact discs can be played or recorded only on one side.) < To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the center of the case and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges. < CD-R and CD-RW discs are more sensitive to the effects of heat and ultraviolet rays than ordinary CDs. It is important that they are stored in a location where direct sunlight will not shine on them, and which is away from sources of heat such as radiators or heatgenerating electrical devices. MP3 and WMA iPod Compatibility < This unit can play MP3 files recorded on various external USB storage devices such as USB flash memory, MP3 player or HDD. The HDD must be formatted in FAT 16 or FAT 32, not NTFS. < When more than 2000 files are recorded on the USB memory, the unit might not be able to play them correctly. < File names of MP3 or WMA files should be in alphanumeric characters. This unit cannot display symbols or full-size or doublebyte characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly. Also, be sure to use the file extension. (“.mp3” for MP3 files, “.wma” for WMA files.) < MP3 files are mono or stereo MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3 format. This unit can play MP3 files with a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, and a bit-rate of 320 kbps or less. < This unit can play WMA files with a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz and a bit-rate of 192 kbps or less. WMA stands for Windows Media Audio. < Audio encoded at 128 kbps should sound close to regular audio CD quality. Although this player will play lower bit-rate MP3 files, the sound quality becomes noticeably worse at lower bit-rates. < Max number of playable folders: 99 < Max number of playable/recordable files: Disc: 999 USB: 1999 This unit can be connected to and used with the following iPod models. iPod (5th generation) iPod classic iPod nano (1st to 5th generation) iPod touch (1st to 3rd generation) < You cannot use following models in “Direct Mode” of the Display mode or for the timer: iPod (5th generation) iPod nano (1st/2nd generation) See page 22 for information about the Display mode. < This unit cannot output video from a connected iPod. < To connect an iPod, use the USB cable supplied with the iPod. < An iPod shuffle connected to this port cannot be played. Compatible iPod Software In case your iPod will not work with CD-P650 or with the remote control unit, a software update may solve the problem. Visit the Apple website and download the latest iPod software. USB Storage Devices CAUTION Never turn the unit off or disconnect a USB storage device when it is being accessed, for example, during writing, playback, recording or the erasure of files. Doing so could damage the CD-P650 and the connected USB storage device. Compatibility < Use a USB storage device with power consumption of less than 500mA. < Some flash memory players that charge from a USB terminal cannot be used for playback. < This unit cannot copy or move files. < Playable formats: FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 < NTFS, HFS and HFS+ formats cannot be used. < Depending on the conditions of a USB storage device, this unit might not be able to play the files on it or skipping might occur. Recording This unit can record sound from CDs to USB storage devices in MP3 format. See page 24 for details.

CAUTION DIGITAL IN OPTICAL REMOTE CONTROL D/A converter, etc. Amplifier (A-R650) A LINE OUT jacks These jacks transmit an analog 2-channel audio signal. Connect these jacks to the TUNER jacks of the amplifier (A-R650) with a stereo RCA pin cable. Be sure to connect the cable as follows: white plug q white jack (L: left channel) red plug q red jack (R: right channel) < Turn off the power of all the equipment before making connections. < Read the instructions of each component you intend to use with this unit. CD (switch the function of CD-P650 between “CD” and “USB”) When the function is “CD”: PLAY/PAUSE(t/J), STOP(H), ., /, REPEAT, SHUFFLE, TIME, Numeric buttons (1 - 0) When the function is “USB” (also for playback of an iPod): PLAY/PAUSE(t/J), STOP(H), ., /, REPEAT, SHUFFLE < Be sure to insert each plug securely. To prevent hum and noise, avoid bundling the signal connection cables together with the AC power cord or speaker cables. B REMOTE CONTROL jack If you have a TEAC A-R650, convenient system control operations are available: < When you press the PLAY button, the input selector of A-R650 is set to “CD” automatically. < When A-R650 is turned on while the input selector of A-R650 is set to “CD“, playback of a CD will start automatically. Connect the REMOTE CONTROL jack (A or B) to the REMOTE CONTROL jack of A-R650 with the provided remote control connection cord. < You can use the following buttons of the remote control provided with TEAC A-R650: If the REMOTE CONTROL jacks of this unit and A-R650 are connected with the remote control connection cord, select “SYSTEM“. You can use the remote control unit provided with A-R650, and convenient system control operations will be available. When you don’t use the system control operations, or you don’t have an A-R650, select “SINGLE“. D DIGITAL OUT terminal (optical) Digital 2-channel audio signal is output from this terminal. Connect it to the digital input terminal of a digital device such as a D/A converter, etc. Use a commercially-available optical digital cable. E AC power cord After all other connections are complete, connect the plug to the AC wall socket. < Be sure to connect the power cord to an AC outlet which supplies the correct voltage. < Hold the power plug when plugging in or unplugging the power cord.

A STANDBY/ON

Use this button to turn the unit on or put it in the standby mode. The standby indicator turns red when the unit is in the standby mode. When the unit is turned on, the indicator goes out.

B CD/USB

Use this button to select CD or USB mode. C RECORD Press this button to start recording to a USB storage device. Hold down this button to enter the recording setting mode. D Disc tray

E Open/close (L) Use this button to open and close the disc tray. F Stop (H) Use this button to stop playback and recording. G Play (G) Use this button to start playback. H Pause (J) Use this button to pause playback.

I PHONES For private listening, insert the headphones plug into this jack. J LEVEL knob Turn this knob to adjust the volume of the headphones. K iPod/USB port Connect an iPod or external USB storage device. g CLEAR Use this button to clear a program. (page 19) h PROGRAM Use this button to enter the program mode. (page 17) i MENU Use this button to go back to the previous menu of the iPod. This button is the equivalent to the MENU button on your iPod. (page 15) When operating the remote control unit, point it towards the remote sensor. N Skip/Search (.m/,/) In CD/USB mode, use these buttons to skip tracks/files during playback or in the stop mode of the CD or USB storage device. In iPod mode, use these buttons to skip songs during playback or in pause mode. During playback, hold down these buttons to search for a track/ file/song. Remote Control Unit The provided remote control unit allows the unit to be operated from a distance. When operating the remote control unit, point it towards the remote sensor on the front panel of the unit. < Even if the remote control unit is operated within the effective range, remote control operation may be impossible if there are any obstacles between the unit and the remote control unit. < If the remote control unit is operated near other appliances which generate infrared rays, or if other remote control devices using infrared rays are used near the unit, it may operate incorrectly. Conversely, the other appliances may also operate incorrectly. Battery Installation Precautions Concerning Batteries < Be sure to insert the batteries with the positive “+” and negative “_” polarities positioned correctly. < Use batteries of the same type. Never use different types of batteries together. < Rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries can be used. Refer to the precautions on their labels. < When the remote control unit is not to be used for a long time (more than a month), remove the batteries from the remote control unit to prevent them from leaking. < If the batteries leak, wipe away the liquid inside the battery compartment and replace the batteries with new ones.

1. Remove the battery compartment cover.

2. Insert two “AA” dry batteries. Make sure that the batteries are

inserted with their positive “+” and negative “_” poles positioned correctly. < Do not use any batteries not specified. Do not mix new batteries with old ones or use different types of batteries together. < Do not heat or disassemble batteries and never throw them in fire or water.

3. Close the cover.

< Do not carry or store batteries with other metallic objects. The batteries may short circuit, leak or explode. < Never recharge a battery unless it is a verified rechargeable type. Battery Replacement If the distance required between the remote control unit and main unit decreases, the batteries are exhausted. In this case replace the batteries with new ones. < For more information about collection of batteries, please contact your local municipality, your waste disposal service or the point of sale where you purchased the items.

Basic Operation A How to turn the unit on or standby Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on or put it in the standby mode. C Listening through headphones Insert the headphone plug into the PHONES jack, and adjust the volume. < The sound from speakers will not be cut off. Standby/On indicator ENGLISH The Standby/On indicator goes out when the unit is turned on. The Standby/On indicator lights red when the unit is in the standby mode. < If A-R650 and this unit are connected with the remote control cord when you turn on the system, the source that was selected last time will start playback automatically. B How to select CD or USB Every time the CD/USB button is pressed, the mode is alternated between CD and USB.

Listening to a CD 1 Press the CD/USB button to select “CD.” 4 Press the Open/close button (L) to close the tray. < Be careful not to pinch your finger. 2 Press the Open/close button (L). < It takes a few seconds for the unit to load a disc. No buttons will work during loading. Wait until the total number of tracks/files and the total play time of the disc are displayed. Audio CD The total number of tracks and total play time of the disc are displayed. CD/Stop T016 72:00 3 Place a disc on the tray with the printed label facing up. MP3/WMA disc The total number of files on the disc is displayed. CD/Stop Total file 010 < The disc must be placed centrally into the disc tray. If the disc is not placed correctly, it may not be possible to open the tray again once it has closed. < Never place more than one disc on the tray. < Do not stick labels or tape on the disc. < Do not use irregularly shaped discs.

Listening to a USB Storage Device 5 Press the Play button (y) to start playback. You can play MP3/WMA files by connecting various external USB storage devices such as USB flash memory. 1 Press the CD/USB button to select “USB”. “Not connected” will be displayed if no USB device is connected. Disc playback starts from the first track/file. Audio CD When an HDD device is connected to this unit, it may take several minutes to display the number of files. current track elapsed time of number the current track MP3/WMA disc 3 Press the Play button (y). < MP3/WMA files not contained in folders are automatically put in the “ROOT“’ folder, and playback starts from the first file of the ROOT folder. < If there are folders that have no MP3/WMA file, this unit skips them. < During playback of an MP3/WMA file, “title_artist_album“ is scrolled across the display. < The unit stops automatically when playback of all the tracks/files has finished. Playback starts from the first file. < If you load a disc, and then press the Play button (y) (or the SHUFFLE button of the remote control unit) without having first closed the disc tray, the disc tray closes and playback starts.

ENGLISH 2 Connect an external USB storage device to the unit. CD/Play T003 00:42 Listening to an iPod 1 Press the CD/USB button to select “USB.” Playback CD USB Playback from selected track/file 1 Press the Skip/search buttons (.m/,/) to select a track/file, or use the numeric buttons to input the track/file number. 2 Connect your iPod using the USB cable supplied with the iPod. The iPod automatically turns on and starts playback from the iPod music list. For example, to select track/file number 25, press “2” first then “5”. To select numbers less than 10, press “0” and then the number. As an example, to select number 5, press “0” then “5”. (Optionally, you may press just the number “5” and wait for a few seconds.) 2 Press the Play button (y) . < If the display mode is set to “Extended mode” (see page 22), playback don’t start automatically. When the iPod is connected while CD-P650 is set to another source, the iPod will turn on and enter the pause mode. < The iPod battery will be fully recharged when the iPod is docked and CD-P650 is turned on. < While the iPod is connected to CD-P650, the headphones jack of the iPod can not output the sound. If you want to listen to the sound from your headphones, connect your headphones to CD-P650’s PHONES jack.

Playback starts from the selected track/file. CD USB Playback files in a folder iPod To go back to the previous menu You can select a folder that contains WMA/MP3 files. 1 Use the FOLDER buttons (¥/˙) to select a folder. Press the MENU button to go back to the previous menu. This button is equivalent to the MENU button on your iPod. ENGLISH 3 If you want to select a file, use the FILE buttons (¥/˙). < Files in the selected folder can be selected. 4 Press the ENTER button. iPod To put the iPod in sleep mode (only in Direct mode) Hold down the Play button (y) for more than 5 seconds. Playback starts from the selected file. The iPod enters sleep mode. To cancel sleep mode, press the Play button (y) again.

Playback 2 CD USB iPod To skip to the next or a previous track/file CD USB To stop playback Press the Stop button (H). During playback, press the Skip/search buttons (.m/ ,/) repeatedly until the desired track/file is found. The selected track/file will be played from the beginning. On the remote control unit use the Skip buttons (.//). In stop or pause mode, press the Skip/search buttons (.m/,/) repeatedly until the track/file you want to listen to is found. Press the Play button (y) to start playback of the selected track/file. < When the .button is pressed during playback, the track/file being played will be played from the beginning. To return to the beginning of the previous track/file, press the .button twice. To start playback again, press the Play button (y). Playback starts from the first track/file. CD USB iPod To pause playback Press the Pause button (J) during playback. Playback stops at the current position. < During programmed playback, the next or previous track/file in the program is played. CD USB Search for a part of a track/file To resume playback, press the Play button (y).

To eject the disc During playback, hold down one of the Skip/search buttons (.m/ ,/) and release it when the part you want to listen to is found. On the remote control unit, use the SEARCH buttons (m/,). < In USB mode, no sound is emitted while searching. < The unit stops when the end of the last track/file is reached.

When the Open/close button (L) is pressed, playback stops and the tray will open. After removing the disc, close the tray by pressing the Open/close button (L). Programmed Playback

USB Up to 32 tracks/files can be programmed in the desired order. 1 Press the PROGRAM button while in the stop mode. For example, to select track/file number 25, press “2” first then “5”. To select numbers less than 10, press “0” and then the number. As an example, to select number 5, press “0” then “5”. (Optionally, you may press just the number “5” and wait for a few seconds.) 3 Within 5 seconds, press the PROGRAM button. When CD is selected When USB is selected P-00 T0000 Total File 0130 2 Use the SKIP buttons (.//) to select a track/file. ENGLISH P-00 T000 T016 72:00 When CD is selected P-01 T012 T016 72:00 When USB is selected P-01 T0012 Total File 0130 < Repeat steps 2 and 3 to program more tracks/files. < If you make a mistake, press the CLEAR button. The last programmed number will be deleted. < Up to 32 tracks/files can be programmed. If you attempt to program more than 32 tracks/files, “P-FULL (Program is full)” is displayed and no more tracks/files can be programmed. 4 When you have finished programming, press the PLAY When CD is selected button (y) to start programmed playback. When playback of all the programmed tracks/files has finished, or if the Stop button (H) or the STANDBY/ON button is pressed, the program mode will be cancelled. < If the unit is disconnected from the power supply, the programmed contents will be erased. When you use the numeric buttons, just input the track/fiie number. After input, skip to step 4 .

Programmed Playback 2 CD USB To check the programmed order In stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly. The track/file number and program number will be shown on the display. CD USB To change or add a track/file to the program You can also use the numeric buttons. For example, to select track/file number 25, press “2” first then “5”. To select numbers less than 10, press “0” and then the number. As an example, to select number 5, press “0” then “5”. (Optionally, you may press just the number “5” and wait for a few seconds.) 3 Press the PROGRAM button. 1 In stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly until the program number for which you want to change the track/file appears on the display. The program is overwritten. CD USB To delete a track/file from the program 2 Select a track/file using the SKIP buttons (.//). 1 In the stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly until the program number of the track to be deleted appears on the display. The previous track/file is replaced with the newly selected one. If you want to add a track/file to the end of the program, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly until “P-END” briefly appears on the display. Then select a track/file using the SKIP buttons (.//) . The track/file is added to the program. 2 Press the CLEAR button. The selected track/file is deleted from the program.

Shuffle Playback CD USB To clear the program 1 In the stop mode, press the PROGRAM button.

USB When the SHUFFLE button is pressed, the tracks/files on the disc or USB storage device will be played randomly. When CD is selected 2 Hold down the CLEAR button for more than 4 seconds. ENGLISH CD/Random T003 00:07 When USB is selected < In the following cases, the programmed contents will also be cleared: Pressing the STANDBY/ON button Opening the disc tray Disconnecting the AC power cord < If you press the / button during shuffle playback, the next track/file will be randomly selected and played. If you press the .button, the currently played track/file will be played from the beginning. A track/file cannot be replayed during shuffle playback. < To cancel shuffle playback, press the SHUFFLE button. < To stop shuffle playback, press the Stop button (H). iPod During playback, press the SHUFFLE button to change the shuffle mode.

When you select “RDM Songs”, the iPod shuffles songs within the list you choose to play. When you select “RDM Album”, the iPod plays all the songs on an album in order, then randomly selects another album in the list and plays through that album in order, and so on.

To repeat a designated section (A-B repeat mode) 1 Press the PLAY (G) button to start playback. 2 Designate the point at which playback should start (point A) by pressing the A-B button. Every time the 1/ALL button is pressed, the mode is changed as follows:

3 Press the A-B button again at the ending point (B).

Repeat One Track/File (RPT 1) The track/file being played will be played repeatedly. If you select another track/file in “RPT 1” mode, the track/file you selected will be played repeatedly. If you select “RPT 1” mode while in the stop mode and select a track/file, the selected track/file will be played repeatedly. The REPEAT and A-B indicators light. Repeat Folder (RPT Folder) (MP3/WMA files only) All the files in the folder will be played repeatedly. If you select another folder in “RPT Folder” mode, the files in that folder will be played repeatedly. < You can not select “RPT Folder” mode while in the stop mode. Repeat All (Ra) All the tracks/files will be played repeatedly. < In the program mode, all the programmed contents are played repeatedly. < When the Stop button (H ) is pressed the repeat mode is cancelled.

< To cancel Repeat playback and resume normal playback, press the A-B button. < There must be more than 3 seconds between A and B. < If one of the following buttons is pressed, A-B repeat mode will be cancelled: STOP, SKIP, 1/ALL, A-B, SHUFFLE, OPEN/CLOSE, STANDBY/ON Display

During playback, press the TIME button repeatedly to change the information on the display. Do not disconnect the power cord during recording. It may cause damage to the products. < Adjust the volume of the external audio source to a suitable level before recording. If not, the recording quality will be poor. Note < The recorded files are saved in the AUDIO folder. When an iPod is connected, hold down the MENU button for more than 4 seconds to select which display is used. Direct Mode (default) You can control the iPod using the menu on the screen of the iPod. The display of CD-P650 constantly shows “Direct Mode”. Extended mode You can control the iPod using only CD-P650. The TEAC logo appears on the iPod screen. Information of the songs is displayed on the display of CD-P650. < CD-P650 cannot display symbols or full-size or double-byte characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly. Song/Album/ Artist names of songs should be in alphanumeric characters. < The logo does not appear on the screen of the iPod touch.

< The FILE NAME is assigned automatically in a regular sequence such as “Audio001.MP3”, “Audio002.MP3”, ……. For Example: If there are “Audio004.MP3” and “Audio009.MP3” files in the AUDIO folder, and you make a recording, the new file will be “Audio010. MP3”. < Before recording check the remaining capacity of the USB storage device using your PC. You cannot check the remaining capacity with this unit. < The maximum number of files that CD-P650 can operate is 1999. If more than 1999 files are stored on the USB storage device, CD-P650 can not play correctly, and cannot record any files. < A track recorded onto a USB storage device is converted to an MP3 file at a bit rate of 64kbt, 96kbit, 128kbit or 192kbit. Setting the Recoding Mode You can set the bit rate and recording speed, and select the number of recorded songs (1 or all). Bit rate You can set the bit rate of MP3 files for recording. 1 Press the CD/USB button repeatedly to select “CD”. CD/Stop

Recording to a USB Storage Device 1 Set the number of recorded songs to “1 song” or “CD ALL”. (See page 23) 2 Connect the external USB storage device to the USB port of CD-P650. Depending on the selected setting, the selected song will be recorded or recording starts from the beginning of the first song on the CD. Recording will stop automatically when playback of the single song or of the final song on the CD has finished. 3 Press the CD/USB button repeatedly to select “CD”. < When the recording speed is “x2”, no signal is output from the audio outputs. To stop recording Press the Stop button (H). 4 Open the disc tray and place the audio CD to be recorded. Then close the disc tray. 5 If “1 song” is selected in step 1 select a track using the Skip/search buttons (.m/,/).

Deleting a file from a USB Storage Device Restoring factory settings You can delete a file on the external USB storage device. You can restore to factory setting. 1 In the stop mode, use the FOLDER buttons (¥/˙) to select a 1 While in the standby mode, hold down the Pause button folder. (J) and STANDBY/ON button simultaneously for more than 3 seconds. The version will appear on the display 2 Unplug the AC power cord from the AC wall socket. 3 Wait a moment and plug the AC power cord to the AC wall socket again. 3 Use the FILE buttons (¥/˙) to select the file which you want 4 Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on. to delete from the USB storage device. 4 Hold down the CLEAR button for more than 4 seconds. All the settings are reset to the factory settings. “Delete?” is displayed. 5 Within 3 seconds, press the CLEAR button again. < The delete mode will be cancelled if you do not press the CLEAR button within 3 seconds.

Troubleshooting In case of trouble with the unit, please take the time to look through this chart and see if you can solve the problem yourself before you call your dealer or TEAC service center. General No power e Check the connection to the AC power source. Check and make sure the AC source is not a switched outlet and if it is, that the button is turned on. Make sure there is power to the AC outlet by plugging in another item such as a lamp or fan. iPod Player Will not play. e Remove the iPod from the USB port, wait for a few seconds, and insert it again. e A software update may solve the problem. Visit the Apple website and download the latest iPod software. Cannot operate the iPod. e Make sure the HOLD switch of the iPod is not set to HOLD. MP3/WMA No sound. e Check the connection to the amplifier. e Check the operation of the amplifier. “Power protect” blinks on the display and CD-P650 enters the standby mode. e The power supply is unstable. After a brief interval, press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on. “Over current” blinks on the display. e USB storage devices with a power consumption of over 500mA cannot be used other than when in USB mode. Disconnect the USB storage device or switch to USB mode. Remote control doesn’t work. e If the batteries are exhausted, change the batteries. e Use remote control unit within the range (5m) and point it at the front panel. e Make sure that there are no obstacles between the remote control unit and the main unit. e If a fluorescent light is on near the unit, turn it off. e Set the REMOTE CONTROL SELECTOR to “SYSTEM“, and connect the REMOTE CONTROL jacks of this unit and A-R650 with the remote control connection cord, if you want to operate with the remote control unit supplied with A-R650. e When you use the remote control unit supplied with A-R650, press the CD button of the remote control unit before operation. CD Player Will not play. e Load a disc with the label side facing up. e If the disc is dirty, clean the surface of the disc. e A blank disc has been loaded. Load a prerecorded disc. e Depending on the disc conditions, etc. it may not be possible to play back a CD-R/RW disc. Try again with another disc. e You cannot play back unfinalized CD-R/RW discs. Finalize such a disc using a CD recorder and try again. Sound skips. e Place the unit on a stable surface to avoid vibration and shock. e If the disc is dirty, clean the surface of the disc. e Do not use scratched, damaged or warped discs.

There is no sound even if the Play button (y) is pressed. e Check whether there are MP3 or WMA files on the USB. e Non-playable file formats (e.g MPEG 1 LAYER 2 file) cannot be played. “No title”, “No artist”, and “No album” appears on the display. e There is no ID3 tag information for the music file. Edit the title, artist, and album information of the song on a PC using the MP3 or WMA making application. Some unknown characters are displayed on the display panel. e This unit cannot display symbols or full-size or double-byte characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly. File names of MP3 or WMA should be in alphanumeric characters. If normal operation cannot be recovered, unplug the power cord from the outlet and plug it in again. Maintenance If the surface of the unit gets dirty, wipe with a soft cloth or use diluted neutral cleaning liquid. Be sure to remove any fluid completely. Do not use thinner or alcohol as they may damage the surface of the unit.
