1. General description

The user manual is designed to assist in the safe and trouble-free use of the device. The product is designed and manufactured in accordance with strict technical guidelines, using state-of-the-art technologies and components. Additionally, it is produced in compliance with the most stringent quality standards.

DO NOT USE THE DEVICE UNLESS YOU HAVE THOROUGHLY READ AND UNDERSTOOD THIS USER MANUAL.

To increase the product life of the device and to ensure trouble-free operation, use it in accordance with this user manual and regularly perform maintenance tasks. The technical data and specifications in this user manual are up to date. The manufacturer

reserves the right to make changes associated with quality improvement. The device is designed to reduce noise emission risks to a minimum, taking into account technological progress and noise reduction opportunities.

2. Usage safety

ATTENTION! Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow the ings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury or death.

The terms "device" or "product" are used in the warnings and instructions to refer to TRENCHER.

2.1. Safety in the workplace

a) Make sure the workplace is clean and well lit. A messy or poorly lit workplace may lead to accidents. Try to think ahead, observe what is going on and use common sense when working with the device.
b) Do not use the device in a potentially explosive environment, for example in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust.
c) If you discover damage or irregular operation, immediately switch the device off and report it to a supervisor without delay.

d) If you are unsure about whether the product is operating correctly or if you find damage, please contact the manufacturer's service centre.
e) Only the manufacturer's service point may repair the device. Do not attempt any repairs independently!
f) In case of fire, use a powder or carbon dioxide (CO2) fire extinguisher (one intended for use on live electrical devices) to put it out.
g) Children or unauthorised persons are forbidden to enter a work station. (A distraction may result in loss of control over the device).
h) Use the device in a well-ventilated space.
i) Regularly inspect the condition of the safety labels. If the labels are illegible, they must be replaced.
j) Please keep this manual available for future reference. If this device is passed on to a third party, the manual must be passed on with it.
k) Keep packaging elements and small assembly parts in a place not available to children.
I) Keep the device away from children and animals.
m) If this device is used together with another equipment, the remaining instructions for use shall also be followed.

Remember! When using the device, protect children and other bystanders.

2.2. Personal safety

a) Do not use the device when tired, ill or under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or medication which can significantly impair the ability to operate the device.
b) The machine may be operated by physically fit persons who are able to handle the machine, are properly trained, who have reviewed this operating manual and have received training in occupational health and safety.
c) The machine is not designed to be handled by persons (including children) with limited mental and sensory functions or persons lacking relevant experience and/ or knowledge. Persons inexperienced in operating the device may only use it under the supervision of other people.
d) When working with the device, use common sense and stay alert. Temporary loss of concentration while using the device may lead to serious injuries.
e) Use personal protective equipment as required for working with the device, specified in section 1 (Legend).

The use of correct and approved personal protective equipment reduces the risk of injury.

f) Do not overestimate your abilities. When using the device, keep your balance and remain stable at all times. This will ensure better control over the device in unexpected situations.
g) Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothes and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair may get caught in moving parts.
h) Remove all adjusting tools or spanners before turning the device on. A tool or spanner left in the revolving part of the device may cause injury.
i) The device is not a toy. Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.

2.3. Safe device use

a) Do not overload the device. Use the appropriate tools for the given task. A correctly-selected device will perform the task for which it was designed better and in a safer manner.
b) Do not use the device if the ON/OFF switch does not function properly (does not switch the device on and off). Devices which cannot be switched on and off using the ON/OFF switch are hazardous, should not be operated and must be repaired.
c) Before adjusting, cleaning and maintaining the device, turn it off, wait at least 5 minutes or until it cools down, and then disconnect the spark plug wire.
d) When not in use, store in a safe place, away from children and people not familiar with the device who have not read the user manual. The device may pose a hazard in the hands of inexperienced users.
e) Keep the device in perfect technical condition. Before each use check for general damage and especially check for cracked parts or elements and for any other conditions which may impact the safe operation of the device. If damage is discovered, hand over the device for repair before use.
f) Keep the device out of the reach of children.
g) Device repair or maintenance should be carried out by qualified persons, only using original spare parts. This will ensure safe use.
h) To ensure the operational integrity of the device, do not remove factory-fitted guards and do not loosen any screws.
i) When transporting and handling the device between the warehouse and the destination, observe the occupational health and safety principles for manual transport operations which apply in the country where the device will be used.
j) Avoid situations where the device stops working during use due to excessive loading. This may result in overheating of the drive elements and damage to the device.
k) Do not touch moving parts or accessories unless spark plug cable has been disconnected and unit has cooled completely.

I) Do not leave this appliance unattended while it is in use.
m) Clean the device regularly to prevent stubborn grime from accumulating.
n) The device is not a toy. Cleaning and maintenance may not be carried out by children without supervision by an adult person.
o) It is forbidden to interfere with the structure of the device in order to change its parameters or construction.
p) Keep the device away from sources of fire and heat.
q) Do not cover the ventilation openings!
r) Protect the device against rain or moisture.
s) Check if all covers are in place and in good condition.
t) Check whether the device's excavating element is damaged, teeth are not missing or shows signs of wear. Replace the excavating element, sharpen the teeth or replace other parts, if necessary.
u) The device must only be used outdoors. Avoid operating the machine in enclosed spaces, tunnels or other poorly ventilated places as the exhaust fumes contain lethal/harmful fumes and gases. If operating the machine in such conditions is unavoidable, provide adequate exhaust extraction.
v) Always check if the area to be excavated does not contain underground utilities, structures, utility items and other obstacles. Contact the relevant services to determine the exact location of electric wires, gas pipes, water pipes, etc. before starting work with the device.
w) Make sure there are no gasoline leaks from the device.
x) Oil leaking from the machine should be reported to the appropriate services or comply with legal requirements applicable in the area of use.
y) Stop the engine before removing the gasoline cap.
z) Make sure the device working area is free from potential hazards such as pipes, stones or other materials that may become entangled in the device's excavating chain, cause uncontrolled movement of the device or loss of balance.
aa) Encountering buried obstacles (buildings, pipes, stones, pipes, etc.) while excavating may result in serious injury or DEATH.
bb) While the device is in operation, keep other people and animals away from the device within 15 m. Stop the device when another person or animal comes within lesser distance. Pay particular attention to the safety and distance from the device in the case of children and animals!
cc) Never allow children to operate the device.
dd) Hold the device with both hands firmly by the handle.

ee) Examine the excavating area carefully. The soil, job specification, or operator experience may indicate that a different device or method of operation has been used.
ff) Do not leave holes in the ground unsecured! Risk of an accident!
gg) Never modify the setting of the engine regulator. The regulator controls the maximum safe operating speed and protects the engine. Over-speeding the engine is dangerous and can damage the engine and other moving parts of the device. Please contact your dealer for adjustment of the motor regulator if necessary.
hh) Do not cover the device if the muffler is still hot.
ii) Never start the engine without the air filter being properly installed. Do not use flammable liquids to clean the air filter.
jj) The engine and muffler become very hot during operation and can cause severe burns. Do not touch them.
kk) Misuse or careless use of the device may cause serious injuries.
II) Make sure that all users have read, understood and follow the manual.
mm) If the device starts to emit disturbing sounds or vibrations, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wires, wait at least 5 minutes or until the engine has cooled down. Then check for any damage. Damaged parts must be repaired or replaced.
nn) Only use the device in daylight.
oo) Do not use the device in rush.
pp) If the device encounters an object in the ground, it must be stopped and the object removed, or restart excavation behind the object.
qq) Do not manually remove locks from the device.
rr) Do not operate on uneven ground or in case the unit is unstable.

2.4. Fuel safety

a) Keep flammable materials (petrol, matches, straw, etc.) away from the exhaust.
b) Poisonous carbon monoxide is present in the engine exhaust. Remaining in a carbon monoxide environment may lead to losing consciousness or even death
c) Use extreme caution when handling fuel. Gasoline is flammable and ignition of gasoline fumes may cause an explosion.
d) Stop the engine before refuelling. Never refuel while the engine is running or is still hot. Otherwise, spilled or evaporated fuel may catch fire from engine sparks or silencer heat.
e) Do not smoke while refuelling or using the device.
f) Never refuel indoors, when the engine is hot or the device is running.

g) Never refuel or store the device in places with open fire, sparks or other potential sources of ignition.
h) Do not attempt to start the engine with fuel spilled nearby. Move the device away from the leak, wipe up the leak, and make sure all fuel is dry before starting the engine.
i) Always make sure the fuel tank cap is securely tightened before starting the engine.
j) If the fuel tank needs to be emptied, it should be done outdoors.
k) Store fuel only in specially designed and certified containers, away from sources of heat, open fire and children.
I) Move at least 3 meters away from the fuel filling point before starting the engine.
m) Store the device and fuel in places where gasoline fumes will not be explosive by ignition from heat sources, sparks or open fire such as: furnaces, engines, switches, etc.
n) Before transport or storage, close the gasoline and engine valves and let the engine cool down.

ATTENTION! Despite the safe design of the device and its protective features, and despite the use of additional elements protecting the operator, there is still a slight risk of accident or injury when using the device. Stay alert and use common sense when using the device.

3. Use guidelines

3.2. Preparing for use

Assembling the appliance

Step 1: Handle assembly

a) Attach the lower part of the handle (49) to the main frame (1).
b) Attach the upper part of the handle (47) to the lower part (49), secure the connection with the screw (48) and clamping lever (53).
c) Put the depth adjustment lever (39) in the right place (as shown in the figure) and secure the connection with the screw (41) and the spring (39), then fasten the other side of the spring with the pin (4) to the lever (39).
d) Install the starter cable guide (69) to the main frame (1) and tighten securely with the bolt (68).

a) Fit the chain driving adapter (13) to the axle (2).
b) Put the chain (6) on the adapter (13) and connect it with the chain protection (4) and pins (3).
c) Tighten the chain by tightening the screw (55).
d) Install the chain guard (14) onto the fastener (70) and tighten securely with the bolt (67).

Refuelling

a) Make sure the machine is turned off and that the engine has been cooling down for at least 2 minutes before you start refuelling. Refuel only outdoors.
b) Unscrew the fuel tank cap [F]
c) Fill the fuel tank up to a maximum of 15mm below the top of the tank. Don't overfill!
d) Close the fuel tank cap [F].

Topping up engine oil

a) Make sure that the machine is standing on a level surface.
b) Check the oil level using the dipstick [J].
c) If the oil dipstick shows low oil level, top up using 10w-30/10w-40/15w-30/15w-40 non-synthetic engine oil.
d) Fill in the oil through the same hole as the dipstick [J].
e) When topping up the oil, check the oil level so that it falls between L (low level) and H (high level). Don't overfill!

Please note: Before using the machine, top the oil up to the correct level. The engine is delivered without oil. Operating the engine without oil or with a low oil level will damage the engine.

3.3. Device use

Starting the engine

Always stand behind the machine when starting the engine, away from the side worm and digging chain. Always start the machine at the work site and then let it warm up. Each time the machine is started, check that all the controls are working properly.

1. Make sure the depth adjustment arm is set to "0"
2. Make sure that the machine is refilled with engine oil and fuel.

3. Set the fuel supply valve [B] to ON.

4. If the engine is cold, move the choke lever [C] to the closed (CHOKE) position.

5. Move the throttle lever to FAST.
6. Set the ON/OFF switch on the handle of the machine to the ON position.
7. Set the engine ON/OFF switch [I] to ON.
8. Grasp the starter cord handle and pull slowly until it is tight. Allow the cable to retract a little, then pull the cord sharply to start the engine. Usually one or two strokes will start the engine.
9. Move the choke lever [C] to RUN.
10. If the machine has been started with a cold engine, warm the engine before you begin digging. Allow the engine to run with the throttle lever in the middle range for 3-4 minutes, then move the throttle lever to the FAST.

Make sure the machine chain does not turn when the engine is idling. Make sure the engine is turned off or idling before moving the machine to the work site.

Depth adjustment

Depth should be adjusted with the engine idling.

The digging depth is adjusted by setting the lever in the groove corresponding to the desired depth.

PLEASE NOTE: All depth values are approximate. The actual depth may vary depending on soil conditions, the condition of the digging chain as well as the operator's experience.

Digging trenches:

1. With the engine running, idling, and the depth control lever set to "0", push the handle down to raise the trencher chain.
2. Pull the depth adjusting lever up and slowly move it forward to set the desired depth.
3. Push the handle down so that the trencher chain is clear of the ground. Increase the engine speed and hold the handle with both hands. Slowly reduce the pressure on the handle, allowing the chain to penetrate the soil until it reaches the desired depth.
4. Pull the machine intermittently as follows: pull the machine 10 to 15 cm towards you, then relax the pull allowing the trencher to reach the selected depth again.
5. Repeat step 4 until the task is completed.

Turning the machine off

There are two switches on the machine - one on the handle and one on the engine. The operator can turn off the machine at any time by setting any switch to OFF. Both switches must be set to ON to start the engine.

Stopping the engine:

1. Set the ON/OFF switch on the handle to OFF.
2. Move the throttle lever to the IDLE.

3. Set the engine ON/OFF switch [I] to OFF.

Locked chain

If the chain stops moving while you are digging, stop the engine, remove the blockage, then start the engine again and restart work. Do not remove blockages while the engine is running!

3.4. Cleaning and maintenance

a) Before adjusting, cleaning and maintaining the device, turn it off, wait at least 5 minutes or until it cools down, and then disconnect the spark plug wire.
b) Use only non-corrosive cleaners to clean the surface.
c) After cleaning the device, all parts should be dried completely before using it again.
d) Store the unit in a dry, cool place, free from moisture and direct exposure to sunlight.
e) Do not spray the device with a water jet or submerge it in water.
f) Do not allow water to get inside the device through vents in the housing of the device.
g) Clean the vents with a brush and compressed air.
h) The device must be regularly inspected to check its technical efficiency and spot any damage.
i) Use a soft cloth for cleaning.
j) Make sure that all nuts and bolts are properly tightened. Worn or improperly tightened nuts and bolts can damage the engine or the frame.
k) Never store the machine with petrol in the tank inside a building where vapour can reach open flame or sparks. Allow the engine to cool down before transporting the machine.
I) To reduce the risk of fire, keep the engine and fuel storage area free from dirt and excess grease.
m) Replace worn or damaged parts to ensure safe use. If you need to empty the fuel tank, drain it outdoors.
n) Check the oil level regularly and top it up or replace it as necessary.

MAINTENANCE

The machine must be serviced periodically in accordance with the table below:

Engine maintenance

The spark plug should undergo a technical inspection after every 100 hours of operation. Check the colour of the deposit at the end of the spark plug. The colour should be brown. Remove the residue using a hard brush. Check the distance between the electrodes and adjust it if necessary. The correct distance is 0.7 to 0.8 mm.

Replacing the engine oil

Place the machine on a flat surface, switch it on and warm up the engine for a few minutes. Unscrew the oil tank cap.

Unscrew the oil tank cap. Place a container to collect the waste oil underneath the engine. Remove the oil drain screw and drain all the oil.

To protect against oil dripping into the frame of the machine, it is recommended to use a pipe to bring the oil directly into the waste oil container.

Check the drain screw, gasket, oil plug and ring. If these parts are damaged or worn, they must be replaced. Replace and tighten the drain

screw. After this operation, add fresh oil to the upper level on the dipstick.

Air filter

The air filter should be inspected for technical condition. It should be unscrewed and cleaned or replaced with a new one. The filter should be washed with water and a mild detergent, dried and replaced. Do not start the engine with the air filter disassembled.

Transport and storage

• Before transporting and storing the machine, always close the fuel cock, turn off the engine and let it cool down.
• Store the machine and the fuel in places where fuel vapours cannot reach sources of ignition such as water heaters, electric motors, switches, furnaces, etc.
• Always secure the machine with fastening belts or similar elements when transporting.
• The machine should be stored in a way that prevents it from falling over or moving.

DISPOSING OF USED DEVICES

Do not dispose of this device in municipal waste systems. Hand it over to an electric and electrical device recycling and collection point. Check the symbol on the product, instruction manual and packaging. The plastics used to construct the device can be recycled in accordance with their markings. By choosing to recycle you are making a significant contribution to the protection of our environment. Contact local authorities for information on your local recycling facility.

TROUBLESHOOTING
