What part is the Neiman fixed to on the DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM motorcycle?
Frequently Asked Questions - 15/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

On the DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM motorcycle, the Neiman is fixed by a part called Neiman support or switch support. This part is generally attached to the upper fork yoke of the motorcycle.

Here’s how the Neiman is held:

  • The Neiman support is securely screwed onto the fork yoke.
  • The Neiman fits into this support, which holds it in place and ensures its proper positioning.

To remove or replace the Neiman, you need to unscrew the screws that fix the Neiman support to the fork yoke, then extract the Neiman from the support.

This fixing ensures the stability of the Neiman and its proper functioning for starting and the safety of the motorcycle.

Why does my DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM motorcycle start and then stall immediately?
Frequently Asked Questions - 15/04/2026
Response Notice-Facile

If your DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM motorcycle starts but stalls immediately, several causes may be behind this problem. Here are the main points to check:

1. Fuel Check

  • Make sure the tank is sufficiently filled with good quality fuel.
  • Old or contaminated fuel can prevent the engine from functioning properly.

2. Air Filter Check

  • A dirty air filter limits airflow and disrupts the air/fuel mixture.
  • Clean or replace the filter if necessary.

3. Spark Plug Condition

  • A worn or dirty spark plug can cause poor ignition.
  • Check its cleanliness and gap, then replace it if needed.

4. Fuel Supply System

  • Check that fuel is flowing correctly to the engine.
  • Inspect the hoses, fuel tap, and carburetor for any leaks or blockages.

5. Idle Speed Adjustment

  • An idle speed that is too low can cause the engine to stall.
  • Adjust the idle screw to achieve a stable speed.

6. Electrical Issues

  • A problem with the ignition, battery, or electrical connections can cause stalling.
  • Check the cables, connections, and the condition of the battery.

By checking these elements, you can often identify and resolve the cause of starting followed by stalling on your DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM.

What is the valve clearance for the DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM motorcycle?
Frequently Asked Questions - 27/03/2026
Response Notice-Facile

For the DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM motorcycle equipped with a single-cylinder 4-stroke engine, the valve clearance is a fundamental parameter to check regularly to ensure the proper functioning of the engine and its longevity.

Prescribed adjustment values:

  • Intake clearance: 0.10 mm
  • Exhaust clearance: 0.15 mm

These measurements correspond to the space between the rocker arm and the valve when the engine is completely cold. This clearance should be measured before any engine start to obtain precise and reliable values.

Verification procedure: Use appropriate thickness gauges (feeler gauges) to check the exact clearance between the rocker arm and the valve. If the clearance is not compliant, loosen the adjustment screw and adjust until the prescribed value is obtained, then tighten securely.

A clearance that is too small leads to overheating of the valves and a risk of annealing the valve seat, while excessive clearance causes rattling noise and accelerated wear of the rockers and valves. Adhering to these values ensures optimal combustion and maintains the mechanical reliability of your engine.

The manufacturer DERBI recommends checking the valve clearance every 6,000 km or according to your vehicle's maintenance schedule.

How to adjust the valve clearance on a DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM motorcycle?
Frequently Asked Questions - 09/12/2025
Response Notice-Facile

Adjusting the valve clearance is an important operation to ensure the proper functioning and longevity of your DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM engine. Here are the general steps to perform this adjustment:

Steps to adjust the valve clearance

  1. Preparation: Place the motorcycle on a stable stand and ensure that the engine is cold for accurate measurements.
  2. Accessing the valves: Remove the necessary covers or protections to access the rockers and the valve adjustment screws.
  3. Engine positioning: Manually turn the engine (using a wrench on the crankshaft) until the piston is at the top dead center (TDC) of the relevant cylinder. This allows for the correct clearance to be measured.
  4. Measuring the clearance: Use a feeler gauge to measure the space between the valve stem and the rocker. Compare this value to the manufacturer's specifications, usually indicated in millimeters.
  5. Adjustment: If the measured clearance is out of tolerance, loosen the locking nut of the adjustment screw, then adjust the screw until the recommended clearance is achieved. Then tighten the locking nut without altering the setting.
  6. Final check: Re-measure to confirm that the clearance is correct after tightening.
  7. Reassembly: Replace the removed covers and protections, and ensure everything is securely fastened.

Important tips

  • Perform this adjustment regularly according to the intervals recommended by the manufacturer to avoid premature engine wear.
  • Always use appropriate tools to avoid damaging components.
  • If you are not comfortable with this operation, it is advisable to seek professional help.

  1. Remove the tank cap by loosing the securing bolts.
  2. Fill up the fluid at the correct level, use only the specified liquid.
  3. Install the cover in the reverse order of removal.

The circuit of the brake fluid is dangerous. In case of accidental contact, clean immediately with water the affected parts.
Make sure there is no leakage in the circuit and check that the hoses and the unions are not damaged and also they shoul not be twisted.
The adjustment of the brake pump has been done at the factory; if necessary, go to your nearest Dealer DERBI. It is forbidden to change these adjustments, because it can seriously damage the brake system.

D

The brake circuit fluid is highly corrosive, avoid contact with the body, painted parts and / or any plastic parts.

The brake circuit fluid is hygroscopic (it absorbs the moisture). If the moisture of the brake fluid is higher than its specified value, the brakes will not work properly.

Under normal weather conditions, the brake fluid must be replaced every 2 years. For this operation which needs an special care, go to your nearest Dealer DERBI.

How to fit the battery

  • Pull out the seat (see section on Seat, fuel and oil tanks)
  • Place the battery in its compartment.
  • Connect up the positive and negative terminals.

Maintenance of the battery

  • When not in use, the battery will discharge at a rate of about 0.5% and 1% daily. This average increases with the temperature. The battery should be given a top-up charge every month to compensate for this loss.
  • A battery contains sulphuric acid. Avoid contact with the skin, the eyes, and clothing.

Caution!

When recharging, do not exceed the maximum rate of 0.5 to 1 amps per hour, or the battery will be destroyed.

D

Changing the battery

If the battery has to be changed, it must be replaced with one of equal capacity and voltage: 12 V 6 Ah.

DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM - Changing the battery - 1

Disposal of old batteries is a problem. It is therefore better to entrust the replacement of your battery to your Official DERBI Service Agent. Batteries contain, among other substances, sulphuric acid, and should never be put in with domestic rubbish.

Vehicle stop for a long period

In case of having the vehicle stop for a long period, it is necessary to recharge the battery periodically, taking into account that approximately after three months the battery will be discharged completely.

Check the charging state of the battery once a month and verify if is necessary to recharge it.

In case that you need to remove the battery, make sure that the posts connections are connected properly when you install it again; the reverse polarity of its posts will damage all electrical devices.

DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM - Vehicle stop for a long period - 1

The duration of the drive chain depends on the lubrication and its appropriate adjustments. In case that these operations are carried out adequately it can cause it to wear and to damage the pinion, the ring gear, and damaging the features of the vehicle. The control must be done frequently, and the adjustment at least every 1,000 km.

Check

The test must be done with the vehicle unloaded, in vertical position, and it must be repeated in different wheel positions to check that the drive pinion is not offset excessively.

If the drive chain is loose or locked, it means that some links are damaged or seized.

Check the links conditions frequently, also the pinion rollers and teeth. In case that is excessively worn or deformed, replace the drive pinion assembly.

D

Do not install a new chain over a worn drive pinion and sprocket, the new components will damage soon.

Lubrication

Perform the drive chain lubrication every 500~km (if the vehicle is used over a road with holes, the lubrication of the drive chain will have to be done in shorter intervals) using only the specific products for the drive chains. The product must be applied by spraying little quantities of it all over the roller edges.

D

To change the bulb, remove the bulb securing bolts. Disconnect the electrical connections, and then turn the socket to remove the bulb.

Installation is in the reverse order of removal.

Low and high beam bulb: 12V-35/35W

Position light bulb: LED Brake / position lamp: L

Turn signals

To access to the turn signals bulbs, follow the next operations:

Loosen the bolt located at back of the turn signal

And remove turn signal glass cover. Press and turn the bulb to remove it.

Turn signals: 12V10W.

License plate light: 12V 5W.

D

Follow the next operations:

  1. Place the vehicle over a flat surface without loads, with the tyres inflated at the specified tyre pressure and in front of a white screen, at 10 meters of distance, that must be placed under a dark area (fig. 1). Make sure that the vehicle axis is perpendicular to the screen.
  2. Draw a horizontal line on the screen, its height should be over 80 82 cm from the floor.
  3. Turn on the lights and aim the beam of light in such a way that the light is at the horizontal line, between the dark and illuminated area, and it should not be over the horizontal line marked on the screen.
  4. In opposite case, adjust the headlight beam whit the bolt "A"

D

The adjustment must be done with the hot engine. Before to do this operation, make sure that the throttle grip has the specific cleareance. In case of need, adjust the throttle transmission cleareance. To do this, go to your nearest Dealer or Distributor DERBI.

For idling adjustment, perform the following operations:

Start the engine, then tighten or loosen the bolt "A" (Fig 1) to adjust the idle until you get to the specified value (1,400 + / - 100r.p.m approx.)

In case of trouble, go to your nearest Dealer or Distributor DERBI.

D

Check periodically if the brake pads are worn (Fig. 1). If the width of just one pad is 1.5mm go to your nearest Dealer or Distributor DERBI. After replacing the brake pads, do not use the vehicle before pressing the brake lever to adjust the pistons and so the brake lever returns to its correct position.

Front and back brake pads

The brake pads and brake disc wear compensate by itself automatically. So, it does not have an effect over the brake performance. Because of this reason it is not necessary to adjust it. If the brake lever is pressed, and you find it too soft, this must be because of the presence of air inside the brake circuit or because it exists an irregularity at the brake system. In this case, and taking in to account the basic function of it, it is necessary to take the vehicle to your nearest Dealer or Distributor DERBI.

D

The roads with snow mixed with salt, mud, and sand etc., can reduce drastically the brake pad duration. To avoid this, we recommend you to wash the vehicle frequently when driving under those conditions.

D

Perform the following operations:

  1. Place the vehicle over the side stand.
  2. Make sure that the throttle grip turns freely when the handlebar is turned to the left or right side.
  3. Check the free clearance has to be around 4mm . If necessary, proceed to its adjustment: loosen the locknut "A" (Fig.1) and adjust the timing "B". After doing the adjustment, press the locknut "A".

Clutch

Perform the following operations:

  1. Place the vehicle over the side stand
  2. Check the free clearance which has to be around 8mm . Adjust the timing "C". (Fig. 2). In case that the clutch does not "engage" or if it "stays stuck" adjust the timing bolt inside the right side of the cover. This operation must be done by your nearest Dealer or Distributor de DERBI.

D

Gaspedal

We recommend you to do the following:

  1. Clean the vehicle thoroughly, and then cover it with a canvas cover (do not use synthetic fabrics)
  2. Use all the fuel left in the vehicle tank, and apply a coat of non-rust grease to the unpainted metallic parts, lift the wheels from the ground and place the chassis on two wodden wedges.
  3. With the engine stopped and the piston in the bottom dead center position, remove the spark plug, and pour 10 ÷ 15 cc. SAE 10W/40 oil. Start the engine by pressing the starter switch 3 or 4 times and let it run for several minutes, make sure the spark plug is installed correctly.
  4. Relative to the battery maintenance, follow the rules indicated at the maintenance chart, under the title BATTERY.

D

Firstly, soften the dirt and mud that is all over the body of the vehicle, using a low pressure jet of water. After doing this operation, remove the dirt and mud with a soft sponge special for bodywork and use a mixture of water and soap to wash it (2 - 4 % of soap dissolved in water).

Then, wash the body properly and dry it with a chamois leather.

If you would like to make it shinny with silicon waxes, the vehicle must be washed firstly.

DERBI SENDA BAJA 125 SM - D - 1

Soaps pollutes the water so, wash vehicle in areas where the water be recollected and purified.

D

Never use a high pressure jet of water, it can damage all the electrical devices.
Never wash the vehicle under the sun, even during the summer season, because when the soap dries once applied over the hot body before it is rinsed, it will damage the paint. To avoid the loss of gloss, never use rags soaked in gasoline, diesel fuel or naphta to wash the painted surfaces or the plastic materials.

D

Engine does not start

Possible causes

  • Fuel valve closed or empty tank;
  • Spray, carburetor body or valve dirty or stuck
  • Irregular or weak ignition

  • Flooded engine

  • Air filter stuck or dirty

Exhaust noise decreases: engine tends to stop with throttle fully opened

  • Carburetor is too dirty
  • Spark plug damaged

The engine does not run smoothly Irregular engine exhaust

  • Irregular engine performance

The engine detonates and makes backfiring noises while accelerating or when running up hill

  • Mixture too rich

High fuel consumption

  • Air filter stuck or dirty
  • Starter lever locked in the closed position or half open
  • Other causes (carburation, low compression, etc.)

Procedure

  • open the fuel valve or refill the fuel tank.
  • remove and wash with gasoline, dry with compressed air
  • remove the spark plug and after connecting it to the ignition with the specific cap (placing one end of it in contact with any metal part away from its housing of the cylinder head) check that when starting the engine without load, ignites a spark between the electrodes. In the opposite case, repeat the operation with a new spark plug before proceeding to other operations of the ignition system controls..
  • Close the fuel valve in the fuel tank, and accelerate at maximun speed and press the starter switch. If the engine does not start, push the vehicle, if not, remove the spark plug, clean it or replace it. Before installing it, run the engine without load to eliminate the excess of fuel.
  • Check if the float needle is waterproof.
  • Replace the air filter element.

  • Check that:

  • The spray is not rusted or dirty.

  • The fuel flows normally
  • Spark plug is not dirty or damaged.

  • Clean and replace the spark plug

  • Check the wires that feed power and their connections to the main control.

  • Check the air filter element and replace it if necessary.

  • Replace the filter element.

  • Unlock the starter level at the carburetor and lubricate it with grease.

  • Visit your nearest Dealer or Distributor DERBI

Maintenance programme

E

A correct maintenance program represents the basic factor for a longer life and duration of the conditions of performance of the vehicle and the all the features you will enjoy.

Because of this, DERBI has prepared a series of tests and maintenance procedures, at a cost, which is illustrated in the chart that summarizes all the steps to be taken in the next page.

We recommend you to refer immediately to a Oficial Service DERBI as soon as you encounter any abnormal function, do not wait for the next inspection.

You must perform the inspection at the intervals scheduled even if you have not reached the mileage specified.

We remind you that the primary condition to maintain the "Warranty" is the execution of the "maintenance inspections" described in the period of assittance written under the prescribed warranty. If you do not follow such inspections it will void the rights of your warranty. Refer to you Dealer or Distributor DERBI for all other information related to the warranty application terms and of the execution of the "programmed maintenance".
