5. Food storage instructions

Use precautions

  • The freezer may not operate consistently (there may be some defrosting of the contents or the temperature may become too hot) if placed in locations with a temperature outside of the temperature range for which it's designed for a long period of time.
  • The internal temperature may be affected by factors such as the location of the freezer, room temperature, and door opening frequency, etc., and you should take these factors into account if you decide to use any temperature-control devices.
  • Do not store effervescent or carbonated drinks inside the device when the freezer mode is active.

Food storage

● Refrigerator mode: it is suitable to store food that does not need to be frozen, cooked food, soft drinks, eggs, milk, juice, etc.

ENGLISH

  • Freezer mode: suitable for storing ice cream, ice cubes, frozen foods and foods you wish to preserve for longer periods.
  • Drawers: pull the drawer to access food.
    ● Always check that the door closes properly.

Storing fruits and vegetables

- It is recommended not to store fruits and vegetables in freezer mode, as these are fresh products that are very sensitive to cold.

Care for food storage

  • Clean and dry food completely before storing it in the device. Before introducing food in the device, it is advisable to seal it to prevent water evaporation and thus keep fruit and vegetables fresh on the one hand, and to prevent odours on the other.
  • Leave enough space between the food; if they are too close together, they will block the flow of cold air, which will affect the cooling effect. Do not store too much or too heavy food to prevent the shelves from bending. When storing food, leave a distance from the interior wall; do not place water-rich food too close to the rear wall of the appliance when the refrigerator mode is activated, to prevent them from freezing on the inside wall.
  • Food storage by category: place daily food items at the front of the shelf so that you can reduce the door opening time and avoid food spoilage due to expiry.
  • Please note that some foods are sensitive to cold and are therefore not suitable for storage in the appliance.

Use of the freezer mode

  • This mode is advisable for storing food that you wish to keep for a long period of time, always respecting the storage time indicated on the food packaging.
  • Store frozen products at a temperature of at least -18 °C (-18 °F).
  • It is advisable to divide large-sized food into smaller pieces and put them in freezing bags before storing them in the freezer compartment drawers.
  • Let hot food cool down to room temperature before putting it in the freezer compartment.
  • Do not place glass containers with liquid or sealed liquid cans in the freezer to prevent them from exploding due to volume expansion when the liquid freezes.
  • Food should be packed or covered with suitable materials that are firm, tasteless, impermeable to air and water, non-toxic, and non-polluting to avoid cross-contamination and odour transfer.

Tips on energy saving

  • Locate the unit in the coolest part of the room, away from heat sources and direct sunlight.
  • Allow hot food to cool to room temperature before placing it in the appliance.
  • Do not open the door repeatedly or leave it open for long periods of time.
    ● Make sure that the door closes properly.
  • Arrange the food inside in an optimal way to ensure cold air circulation.
    ● Store food in suitable containers to prevent moisture build-up.
  • Do not overstock food. Do not place aluminium foil or absorbent paper on the shelves.

6. Cleaning and maintenance

If the freezer is not to be used for a long period of time:

  • Switch off the freezer and disconnect the plug from the mains socket.
  • Remove all the food.
  • Clean and dry the interior completely. To prevent mould or unpleasant odours, leave the door slightly open: lock it open or remove it if necessary.
  • Store the appliance in a well-ventilated, dry place away from heat sources; position the appliance carefully and do not place heavy objects on top of it (if it is not going to be used for a period of more than 3 weeks).
  • The appliance must be kept out of the reach of children to prevent them from playing with it.

Before cleaning, disconnect the power plug; do not connect or disconnect the power plug with wet hands, as there is a risk of electric shock and injury. Do not pour water directly onto the freezer to prevent rusting, electrical leakage and accidents. Do not reach into the bottom of the freezer, as you may get scratched by the sharp metal corners.

Cleaning the interior and exterior

  • Food residues in the freezer can cause undesired odours, so you should clean the freezer regularly. The refrigerator compartment should be cleaned once a month.
  • Remove all drawers and clean them with a soft cloth or sponge dampened with warm water or neutral detergent.
  • Clean the dust that accumulates on the rear panel and side plates of the freezer regularly.
    ● After using neutral detergent, make sure you rinse it with clean water, and then

ENGLISH

dry it with a cloth.

  • Do not use bristle brushes, steel wire brushes, detergent, soap powder, alkaline detergent, benzine, petrol, acid, hot water, or other corrosive elements to clean the freezer surface, door gasket, plastic decorative parts, etc. to avoid damage.
  • Carefully dry the door gasket and clean the slot with a wooden stick wrapped with cotton. After cleaning, fix the four corners of the door gasket and then gradually push it into the slot in the door.
  • Once cleaning is complete, make sure that the power cord and plug are in good condition and undamaged.

Power failure or cooling system fault

  • If you receive a power failure warning in advance, try to keep the appliance to contain as little food as possible and in any case do not store more food.
  • Set the coldest temperature in advance.
  • Do not open the door to avoid temperature loss.
    ● Ice cubes can be placed on top.
  • Reset the desired temperature once the power supply is available again.

Note:

It is advisable to run the freezer uninterruptedly once you start using it.

Defrosting

This freezer includes an automatic defrost function, so there is no need to defrost it manually.
