Frequently Asked Questions - XMOD CREATIVE

No sound comes out of the headphones or speakers. What should I do?
Check that:
- the speakers are powered on;
- the Xmod is powered (USB or adapter);
- the volume is not muted (press the level control button);
- the headphones/speakers are properly connected;
- the headphones are unplugged if you are using the speakers.
Why does the X-Fi effect only last a few seconds?
The X-Fi Crystalizer or X-Fi CMSS-3D buttons are not set to 'On'. Switch them on to enjoy continuous amplification.
The sound is distorted with X-Fi amplification. How to fix?
Distortion can occur at high levels. Decrease the amplification level (turn the control knob counterclockwise) until the distortion disappears.
Can I use noise-canceling headphones with the Xmod?
Yes, but first disable the headphone amplification functions, as they may interfere with the X-Fi amplification of the Xmod.
How to set up 5.1 surround sound for DVDs?
Configure your software DVD player with a 5.1 output in its audio settings.
My laptop displays an error when I plug in the Xmod.
Some laptops are sensitive to USB power. The Xmod has been tested on many platforms and should not cause damage. Try plugging directly into a USB port on the computer (without a hub).
How to restore default levels of X-Fi amplification?
1. Press the select button twice to make the X-Fi Crystalizer LED flash.
2. Press and hold the select button and the level button until all three LEDs flash three times. Default levels are restored.
Does the Xmod work with an external audio source (MP3 player, etc.)?
Yes, connect a power adapter (sold separately) to the Xmod, then connect the external source to the line-in/microphone jack. First disconnect the Xmod from the computer.
How to adjust volume and X-Fi levels?
In Volume mode (blue LED), turn the level control knob. To adjust Crystalizer, press the select button twice, then turn the knob. For CMSS-3D, press three times. The LED flashes faster as the level increases.
Can I use a microphone with the Xmod?
Yes, connect a microphone to the line-in/microphone jack. X-Fi effects apply only to audio output, not to recording. Use your computer's software to adjust recording levels.
