Frequently Asked Questions - ML500 OPTOMA

How to turn on the OPTOMA ML500 projector?

Connect the AC adapter to the projector and to a power outlet. The red LED blinks in standby. Press the Power button (⏻) on the projector or remote control to turn it on. The LED turns off when the projector is on.

How to connect a computer via VGA?

Use the included VGA cable to connect the computer's VGA output to the projector's VGA input. The projector automatically detects the VGA source. Otherwise, press the VGA button on the remote control or manually select VGA in the Input menu.

How to adjust the height of the projected image?

The projector has a front elevating foot. Lift the front of the projector and the foot will deploy automatically. To adjust, gently tilt the projector. After a few seconds, the Auto Image Adjustment function corrects the display if necessary.

What to do if the image is blurry?

Turn the focus ring on the lens until the image is sharp. Also ensure the projection distance is between 0.5m and 5.8m (depending on the desired screen diagonal). Refer to the distance table in the manual.

How to play videos from a USB drive?

Insert the USB drive (FAT32 format) into the USB Type A port on the back. From the Home menu, select Video. The projector automatically plays video files from the drive. Use the navigation buttons to select a file and press OK to play.

How to update the firmware?

Download the latest firmware from www.optoma.com. Create a folder named update on your computer and place the file inside. Copy this folder to a microSD card. Insert the card into the projector. Go to Settings > System > Update and confirm. Do not turn off the projector during the update.

How to use Wi-Fi display?

Plug the compatible Wi-Fi dongle (AboCom WU5205) into the USB port. Install the MirrorOp Sender software on your PC. On the projector, go to Input > Wi-Fi Display. On the PC, connect to the network 'Solomon_Awind' and launch MirrorOp Sender. Select the projector from the list to display the PC screen.

What type of microSD card is supported?

The projector supports microSD cards up to 32 GB. Insert the card into the slot with gold contacts facing down. To remove, push lightly to eject. Do not remove the card during playback.

How to reset the projector?

Go to Settings > System > Reset. Caution: This operation erases all files stored in internal memory. Make sure to back up your data before confirming.

What to do if the projector does not turn on?

Check that the power cord is properly connected on both ends. Make sure the power outlet works. If the red LED remains off, the projector may be overheating: let it cool down before trying again. If the problem persists, contact customer service.
