Congratulations on your purchase of the JBL Reference 510 headphone system, which has been designed to JBL's high audio performance standards. JBL Reference 510 will meet all your listening and travel needs, and enable you to immerse yourself in your favorite music, wherever you are.

Introduction

The JBL Reference S10 is a high-performance noise-canceling headphone system. The perfect traveling companion, it utilizes personal-environment audio-control electronics (PEACE). Just turn on the noise-canceling option and escape into tranquility – you'll be able to listen to your music in an airplane or on a crowded street without the ambient noises of the outside world to bother you. The JBL Reference S10 also boasts a set of 40mm high-energy neodymium transducers, which provides clean, powerful sound.

The JBL Reference 510 is compatible with most types of audio devices that have a stereo mini-jack connection, including the Apple® iPod®, MP3 players, cell phones, CD players, satellite radio and laptops. The JBL Reference 510 is a music-listening experience and a traveling companion you won't want to be without.

How Your JBL Reference 510 Works

The JBL. Reference 510 reduces outside noise by up to 70% through its active-noise canceling circuitry. Embedded in the headphones are miniature microphones that measure the environment's sound levels. Based on those measurements, the noise-canceling circuit cancels or reduces any unwanted sounds. As you can see in the graph below, the JBL. Reference 510 smoothes out the high and low peaks of noise from the outside world, making your music-listening experience or quiet leisure time interruption-free.

Using Your JBL Reference 5/0

I. Remove the battery door located on the noise-canceling device.
2. Install the AAA battery and then replace the battery door.
3. Set the volume control on your audio device to the lowest level.
4. Place the headphone cups on your ears in accordance with the "L" and "R" markings.
5. Connect the 3.5mm audio outlet to the audio jack located on your entertainment device.
6. To activate the noise-canceling option, slide the switch located on the side of the noise canceling unit to the "ON" position.
