Frequently Asked Questions - GN1000 JABRA

How do I install the GN1000 RHL on my telephone?
Installation is done by attaching the platform to the phone, near the handset speaker, using the adhesive pads or the hook and loop device. Place the ring detector in the center of the speaker and connect the AUX cable to the base unit of the cordless handset. Refer to the guide for more details.
What should I do if the handset does not pick up automatically?
Check that the cordless device is powered on and that the AUX cable is properly connected. Ensure the handset is in 'handset' mode and that the lifter arm height is correctly adjusted (use the +/- adjustment). If necessary, extend the arm.
How do I adjust the sensitivity of the ring detector?
Use the sensitivity control on the back of the device. Turn clockwise to increase sensitivity, counterclockwise to decrease. Adjust until the 'in use' indicator lights up when the phone rings.
What does it mean if the 'in use' indicator flashes continuously?
The 'in use' indicator flashes when the ring detector is disabled (disabled mode). This can happen if you have pressed the detector's on/off button. To reactivate it, press the button again.
Can I use the GN1000 with a non-compatible telephone?
The GN1000 is exclusively designed for use with GN Netcom cordless products. It is not guaranteed to work with other brands or models.
How do I disable the ring detector for a speakerphone call?
Press the ring detector's on/off button to disable it. The 'in use' indicator will start flashing. Once the call is finished, press again to reactivate it.
What should I do if I hear a ringing in my handset without an incoming call?
This may be due to electronic interference. Move the phone away from equipment such as computer monitors or fluorescent lights. Also reduce the ring detector sensitivity by turning the control counterclockwise.
The external ring detector is not working, what should I do?
Check that it is properly connected to the external jack of the device and placed near the phone speaker. Increase the ring detector sensitivity. If the problem persists, try increasing the phone volume.
How do I adjust the height of the lifter arm?
Use the height adjustment located on the side of the device. The '+' symbol raises the arm, the '-' symbol lowers it. Adjust until the handset is properly picked up and replaced.

Adjusting the Ring Sensor sensitivity

JABRA GN1000 - Adjusting the Ring Sensor sensitivity - 1

The ring sensor detects the telephone's ring and is factory pre-set to most standard telephones. The ring sensor may, however, need adjustment to recognise a less common telephone ring tone. Raise and lower the ring sensor's sensitivity by adjusting the ring sensitivity control on the back of the unit.

The ring sensor is set correctly when the on-line indicator lights to indicate an incoming telephone call. If the on-line indicator does not light when the telephone rings, have someone call you and turn the ringer sensitivity control clockwise until the on-line indicator is lit.

If you have unsuccessfully tried to increase ring sensor sensitivity, mount the external ring sensor by completing the following:

  1. Mount the plug of the external ring sensor to the external socket of the product.
  2. Remove the protective film on the external ring sensor and attach it as close as possible to the telephone's speaker.
  3. Readjust the ring sensor's sensitivity if the on-line indicator does not light when an incoming call is received.
