How to use the iron for the first time?

Before first use, remove all packaging and stickers. Fill the tank with tap water, plug in the iron and set the desired temperature. Let it heat up then iron on a damp cloth to remove any manufacturing residues.

What type of water to use in the tank?

Use tap water. If the water is very hard, mix it with equal parts demineralized water. Do not use scented water or rainwater.

How to adjust the temperature according to fabric?

Turn the dial to the position corresponding to the fabric: low for synthetics, medium for silk/wool, high for cotton/linen. Check the garment care label.

How to use the steam function?

Make sure the tank has water and the temperature is high enough (steam zone). Press the steam button for a burst or hold for continuous steam. Vertical steam is used by holding the iron vertically and pressing the button.

How to clean the iron after use?

Unplug the iron and let it cool. Empty the tank. Use the self-cleaning function: fill with water, heat, unplug and hold the iron horizontally over the sink while pressing the self-cleaning button. Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth.

What to do if the iron no longer heats up?

Check that the outlet works and the cord is not damaged. Make sure the thermostat is not set to the minimum position. If the problem persists, contact customer service.

How does the automatic shut-off work?

The iron turns off automatically after 8 minutes of inactivity in vertical position or after 30 seconds in horizontal position or on its heel. To turn it back on, shake it gently.

Why are there water drops on the laundry?

This can be due to too low temperature (steam condenses) or too full tank. Increase the temperature or reduce the amount of water. The anti-drip function should normally prevent this if the temperature is correct.

Can I steam vertically without an ironing board?

Yes, the vertical steam function allows you to dewrinkle hanging clothes, curtains or upholstery without needing an ironing board.

How to store the iron safely?

Always unplug the iron after use. Wait for it to cool completely, then wrap the cord around the heel. Store it in vertical position on its heel in a dry and safe place, out of reach of children.

2. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• Make sure that the mains voltage matches the voltage stated on the rating label of the appliance and that the wall outlet is grounded.
• This appliance is intended for household use only. Do not use for commercial or industrial purposes.
• Check the power cord regularly for visible damage. If the cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the official Technical Support Service of Cecotec in order to avoid any type of danger.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not twist, bend, strain, or damage the power cord in any way. Protect it from sharp edges and heat sources. Do not let it touch hot surfaces. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the working surface or countertop.
• If ironing is interrupted, rest the appliance on its heel rest and do not let it rest on metal or unstable surfaces.
• Do not leave the iron unattended while hot, connected or on an ironing board.
• Do not operate the appliance if it has dropped, if it shows visible signs of damage or if it leaks.
• Do not immerse the cord, plug, or any non-removable part of the appliance in water or any other liquid, nor expose the electrical connections to water. Make sure your hands are dry before handling the plug or switching on the appliance.
• Do not pull from the power cord to unplug or move the appliance, use the plug instead.
• Always unplug the steam iron from the power supply when filling with water or emptying and when not in use.
• If the product has been exposed to temperatures below 0^ for some time, it should be kept at room temperature for at least 2 hours before turning it on.
• The appliance is not intended to be used by children under the age of 8. It can be used by children over the age of 8, as long as they are given continuous supervision.
• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, as long as they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
• Supervise young children to make sure that they do not play with the appliance. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is being used by or near children.

3. BEFORE USE

• Take the product out of the box.
- Remove any packaging materials.

Note: some parts of the steam iron have been slightly greased and as a result, the iron may slightly smoke when switched on for the first time. After a short time, this will cease.

4. OPERATION

Setting temperature

1. Turn the temperature knob to select the temperature indicated on the clothing label.

1. Insert the mains plug into the wall socket. The indicator light will turn on.
2. Once the indicator light turns off, the iron is ready to be used.

Water tank filling

1. Unplug the iron before filling the water tank.
2. Hold the steam iron in horizontal position.
3. Slowly pour water through the water inlet. Do not exceed the Max. mark on the water tank in order to avoid water from spilling.
4. Close the fill opening while operating the iron.
5. Empty the water tank after each use.

Note: the steam iron is designed to use tap water. However, if the water is very hard, it is advisable to use distilled water.

Note: do not use chemically descaled or perfumed water.

Spraying

- As long as there is enough water in the water tank, you may use the spray button at any temperature setting during steam or dry ironing.

Steam ironing

1. With the unit unplugged, fill the steam iron with water.
2. Stand the steam iron on its heel rest in an upright position on an iron-safe surface and connect it to the power supply.
3. Set the temperature knob to the “…” or “…” position.
4. Set the steam controller to the desired position.
5. When finished, turn the temperature knob anticlockwise to the minimum position and unplug the appliance from the power supply.

WARNING: do not come into contact with ejected steam.

Dry ironing

• The steam iron can operate with or without water in the water tank. In case the iron is operated in its dry mode, make sure the water tank is empty.
• Turn the steam controller to the minimum position "0".

WARNING: if the iron has been used during more than 10 minutes and is hot, do not pour in new water until the appliance has cooled down.

Steam burst

- The steam-burst function generates additional steam in order to remove stubborn wrinkles and can be activated just by pressing the steam-burst button.

Note: to prevent the soleplate from leaking, do not keep the steam-burst button pressed for more than 5 seconds.

Note: for optimal steam burst, do not press the steam-burst button more than three times in a row to prevent the iron from cooling.

Vertical steaming

1. Make sure there is enough water in the water tank.
2. Stand the steam iron on its heel rest on an iron-safe surface and connect it to the power supply.
3. Turn the temperature knob and steam controller to maximum.
4. Hold the iron vertically and press the steam burst button, an intense steam will be ejected from the soleplate.

Self cleaning

• Fill the water tank up to the maximum mark and close it.
• Set the temperature knob to maximum.
• Connect the appliance to the power supply.
• Holding the iron horizontally over the sink, turn the steam controller to the maximum position and press the self-cleaning button.
• Boiling water and steam will be ejected from the soleplate's holes, taking out all impurities.
• Repeat this process if considered necessary.

Anti-drip function

- This function prevents water from spilling and avoids blotches from appearing on the fabrics when ironing at low temperatures.

Anti-calc function

• This function protects the iron from scale formations.
• Do not use abrasive scouring pads, powders or cleaners to clean the product.

5. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

• Turn off, unplug the appliance from the power supply, empty the water tank (do it after each use) and allow it to cool down completely.
• Do not use abrasive scouring pads, powders or cleaners to clean the product.
• Wrap the cord around the heel rest.
• To protect the soleplate while it is stored, place the steam iron in an upright position on its heel rest.
