Important safety instructions
- Before the appliance is used, the main unit as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, it must not be used any longer: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
- The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used.
- Do not operate the appliance if excessive force has been used to pull the power
cord. Damage cannot always be detected from the outside; the entire unit should therefore be checked by a qualified technician before it is used again.
- This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age) provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved. Children must not be permitted to carry out any cleaning or maintenance work on the appliance unless they are supervised and at least 8 years of age. The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children under 8 at all times.
- The appliance may only be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance. - Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children: there is a risk of suffocation.
- Do not operate the appliance below a hanging cupboard or similar object; there is a risk that escaping steam may be trapped underneath.
- Do not leave the water kettle unattended during operation. Use only pure water when filling the container to the desired level, observing the Min. and Max. markings.
Overfilling the container may cause danger from boiling water being forced out. - Also beware of the danger of scalding from hot steam being emitted. Therefore, do not touch any parts of the appliance except the handle during use.
- The housing becomes hot during use.
- Caution! During the boiling process and when pouring out hot water, the lid must
be kept closed at all times.
- The kettle may only be operated with the base provided with the appliance.
- The appliance must be used only on a heat-resistant and level surface, impervious to water stains.
- Do not allow the appliance or its power cord to come into contact with open flames or any hot surfaces such as hot-plates.
-
Do not let the power cord hang free, and keep the cord well away from hot parts of the housing.
Always remove the plug from the wall socket -
in case of any malfunction,
-
after use, and also
-
before cleaning the appliance.
-
When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.
- No responsibility is accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
-
This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as in
-
staff kitchens, offices and other commercial environments,
- agricultural areas,
- hotels, motels etc. and similar establishments,
-
bed-and-breakfast guest houses.
-
In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the replacement of the power cord. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments. The address can be found in the appendix to this manual.
Thermal safety cut-out
The preset thermal safety cut-out protects the heating element from overheating should the appliance be erroneously switched on without any water, or if the heating element is calcified. Once the safety cut-out has switched
off the kettle, it must be allowed to cool down sufficiently, or must be descaled before it is switched on again.
Before using for the first time
For reasons of hygiene, discard the first three filling of water.
Boiling water
- Remove the water container from its base.
- Push the release button to open the lid, and fill the container with water to the desired level, observing the Min. and Max. markings.
- Close the lid and replace the container on its base. Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket.
Info: Once the appliance is connected to the mains or the container is placed on its base, the temperature selection buttons light up briefly in the sequence red-green.
- To turn the appliance on, use the appropriate button, which will start flashing red. During the heating period, the temperature can be changed at any time.
- The heating process begins.
- As soon as a certain temperature level has been reached during the heating process, the corresponding temperature selection button shows a green light.
After reaching boiling point (or the selected temperature), the appliance switches off automatically. A triple beep signal is heard and the corresponding button shows a steady light.
Around 30 seconds after the appliance has switched off, the temperature button indicator lights will also go out. - To interrupt the heating process, the appliance can be switched off by pressing the appropriate temperature button again.
- To pour hot water, remove the container from its base.
- To prevent hot steam from being emitted, ensure that the lid remains closed while pouring out the water.
Info: If the kettle is turned on again shortly
after a heating cycle has been completed, the selection buttons show the temperature of the water remaining in the kettle.
If the desired temperature is below that of the water in the kettle, a beep signal is heard. The selection buttons light up green and show the current water temperature.
- Remove the plug from the wall outlet after use.
- Do not leave any residual water in the container.
Power cord wind-up storage
The wind-up power cord storage under the base facilitates limiting the length of the power cord during use and makes it easy to store the appliance.
Dscaling
Depending on the water quality in your area, lime deposits may build up on the heating plate. It is advisable to remove any such deposits at regular intervals. Any warranty claim will be null and void if the kettle malfunctions because of insufficient descaling.
A mixture of 0.5 litres of water to two tablespoons of vinegar essence is suitable.
- Pour the descaler in.
- Switch the appliance on and let the solution reach boiling point.
- Leave it to take effect for a short period.
- To clean the container after descaling, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Do not pour descalers down enamel-coated sinks.
Sieve
If necessary, the sieve can be removed from the spout for cleaning. Re-insert the sieve afterwards.
General cleaning and care
- Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
clean the kettle and the base with water and do not immerse them in water. Do not clean under running water.
- For cleaning, a slightly damp, lint-free cloth may be used.
- Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions, and do not use hard brushes for cleaning.
Disposal

Do not dispose of old or defective appliances in domestic garbage; this should only be done through public collection points.
