Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, it must not be used any longer: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
  • The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used.
  • Do not operate the appliance if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord. Damage cannot always be detected from the outside; the entire unit should therefore be checked by a qualified technician before it is used again.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by any person (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. • Caution: Keep any packaging materials well away from children, as they are a potential source of danger e.g. from suffocation.
  • Do not operate the appliance below a hanging cupboard or similar object; there is a risk that escaping steam may be trapped underneath.
  • Do not leave the water kettle unattended during operation. Use only pure water when filling the container to the desired level, observing the Min. and Max. markings. Overfilling the container may cause danger from boiling water being forced out.
  • Also beware of the danger of scalding from hot steam being emitted. Therefore, do not touch any parts of the appliance except the handle during use. The housing becomes hot during use.
  • Caution! During the boiling process and when pouring out hot water, the lid must be kept closed at all times.

If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments. The address can be found in the appendix to this manual.

Thermal safety cut-out

The preset thermal safety cut-out protects the heating element from overheating should the appliance be erroneously switched on without any water, or if the heating element is calcified. Once the safety cut-out has switched off the kettle, it must be allowed to cool down sufficiently, or must be descaled before it is switched on again.

Before using for the first time

For reasons of hygiene, discard the first three fillings of water.

Boiling water

  • Never remove the water container from the base (or replace it) while the appliance is switched on.
  • Remove the water container from its base.
  • Release and open the lid, and fill the container with water to the desired level,

observing the Min. and Max. markings.

Before closing the lid and placing the container back on its base, ensure that the appliance has not yet been switched on. - Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and press the On/Off switch. The indicator light comes on. - The boiling process begins. After reaching the boiling point, the appliance is automatically switched off by the integral steam cut-off device. The indicator light goes out. - If you want to interrupt the boiling process, set the On/Off switch to its Off position. - To pour hot water, remove the container from its base. - To prevent hot steam from being emitted, ensure that the lid remains closed while pouring out the water. - Remove the plug from the wall outlet after use. - Do not leave any residual water in the container.

Power cord wind-up storage

The wind-up power cord storage under the base facilitates limiting the length of the power cord during use and makes it easy to store the appliance.

Descaling

Depending on the water quality in your area, lime deposits may build up on the heating plate. It is advisable to remove any such deposits at regular intervals. Any warranty claim will be null and void if the kettle malfunctions because of insufficient descaling.

A mixture of 0.5 litres of water to two tablespoons of vinegar essence is suitable.

  • Pour the descaler in.
  • Switch the appliance on and let the solution reach boiling point.
  • Leave it to take effect for a short period.
  • To clean the container after descaling, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Do not pour descalers down enamel

coated sinks.

General cleaning and care

Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely. - To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the kettle and the base with water and do not immerse them in water. Do not clean under running water. - For cleaning, a slightly damp, lint-free cloth may be used. - Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions, and do not use hard brushes for cleaning.

Dear customer,

The automatic thermal switch protects the heating element from overheating in case the kettle boils dry or if there is strong limescale on the heating element. After the automatic thermal switch has been activated, it is necessary to wait for the kettle to cool down and remove the limescale before switching the kettle on again.

Before first use

For hygienic reasons, boil and discard the first three kettlefuls of water.

Boiling water

Never remove the kettle from its base while it is switched on (nor place it on the base) when the kettle is switched on. - Remove the kettle from the base. - Open the lid, then fill the container with the desired amount of water, ensuring the level is between the minimum and maximum level marks. - Before closing the lid and placing the kettle back on the base, make sure the appliance is not switched on. Insert the plug into the socket and press the on/off switch. The indicator light comes on. - The boiling process begins. When the water boils, the kettle switches off automatically via the built-in automatic switch, which activates when steam is produced. The indicator light goes out.

  • To interrupt the boiling process, set the switch to the off position.
  • To pour hot water from the kettle, remove the kettle from its base.
  • To avoid being scalded by hot steam when pouring water, the lid must be closed.
  • Unplug the appliance from the socket after use. Do not leave water in the kettle.

Cord storage

The cord storage, located at the base of the appliance, facilitates the winding of the cord and ensures more convenient storage of the appliance.

Scale formation

Depending on the quality of the water in your area, scale may form on the kettle and heating element, which should be removed regularly. Any warranty claims will be deemed invalid if malfunctions in the kettle are caused by failure to remove scale.

To do this, you can use a solution of citric acid (two tablespoons of citric acid per 0.5 liters of water).

Pour the solution into the kettle to remove scale. Switch on the appliance and bring the solution to a boil. Leave it for some time so that the solution can take effect. Rinse the kettle thoroughly after removing the scale with clean water. - Do not pour the solution for removing scale into an enameled sink.

General care and cleaning of the appliance

Before cleaning the appliance, disconnect it from the mains.

Let it cool down completely.

To avoid electric shock, do not immerse the kettle in water or under a tap. Do not place it under a tap. The outside of the appliance can be wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, strong cleaning agents, or sharp objects.
