Before using the appliance, please read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by persons familiar with these instructions.

Connection to the mains supply

The appliance should only be connected to an earthed socket installed in accordance with the regulations.

Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label of the appliance.

This product complies with the directives which are binding for the CE-labelling.

Important safety instructions

Caution! Do not use the appliance in the vicinity of a bath, shower or swimmingpool, over a washbasin

filled with water or any other receptacle containing water.

There is always a risk when the appliance is operated near water even when it is

switched off. Therefore, if the appliance is being used in a bathroom always remove the plug from the wall socket after use.

Additional protection is offered by fitting an earth-leakage circuit-breaker with a rated tripping current not exceeding 30mA into your bathroom installation. Please consult a qualified electrician.
- Protect the appliance from moisture and splashing water and do not operate it with wet hands.
This appliance may be used by children (at least 8 years of age), and also by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
Children must not be permitted to play with the appliance.
Caution: keep any packaging materials well away from children, as they are a potential source of danger e.g. from suffocation.
Electric heating appliances operate at very high temperatures. Do not touch any part of the appliance except the plastic grip. Burns can occur from touching the hot parts.
- Do not use the appliance on synthetic hair-pieces or wigs. The heat emitted might cause damage to the synthetic fibres.
Before the appliance is used, the main body as well as any attachment fitted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, it must not be used any longer: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
The power cord should be regularly examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used.
- Do not operate the appliance if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord. Damage cannot always be detected from

the outside; the entire unit should therefore be checked by a qualified technician before it is used again.

• Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
  To prevent damage to the power cord,

• do not bend or kink the cable, especially where it leaves the housing,

• do not pull on the cord,

• do not coil the power cord around the appliance.

• Do not place the appliance on any surface sensitive to heat during or immediately after use.

• Do not operate the appliance if it is stored using the hanging loop provided.

• When removing the plug from the wall socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself.
  Always switch off and remove the plug from the wall socket

• after use, as well as

• in cases of malfunction, and

• during cleaning.

• No responsibility will be accepted if damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with.
  This appliance is intended for domestic or similar applications, such as in

• shops, offices and other similar working environments,

• agricultural areas,
• hotels, motels etc. and similar establishments,
• bed-and breakfast type environments.

In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel, including the replacement of the power cord. If repairs are needed, please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments. The address can be found in the appendix to this manual.

Setting the temperature

The temperature can be adjusted in 9 steps within the range of 120 - 200^ . When

the appliance is switched on, the default (medium) temperature setting is 160^ .

We recommend the following temperature ranges:
120-140°C for fine hair
150 - 170 °C for normal hair
180 - 200 °C for thick hair

Locking system

The current temperature setting can be locked by briefly pressing the button twice (display), which prevents the selected temperature from being changed by mistake during the styling process. The temperature lock is cancelled by briefly pressing the button again twice (display).

Automatic switch-off

If the appliance is not used for 60 minutes, it will automatically switch off.

Operation

Make sure the appliance is used on dry hair only.
- Fold out the stand, insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet and use the On/Off switch (O) to turn the appliance on.
Use the + and - control buttons to set the desired temperature. As the appliance heats up, the selected temperature flashes on the display, and the bars flash continuously in an upward direction. As soon as the desired temperature is reached, the reading stops flashing and remains lit.
- When changing to a lower temperature, the reading flashes until the new temperature is reached. This time, the bars will flash continuously in a downward direction.
Divide the hair into separate strands, grip the end of a strand with the clamp and curl it up to the hairline.
The integrated swivel makes it easy to use the appliance in this way.
Hold the hair curled up for a few seconds, then open the clamp, hold the curl and remove the tongs gently from the hair by turning it.

Make sure the hot parts of the appliance are kept away from the scalp.
Let the hair cool down sufficiently before brushing it out.
Turn the appliance off after use by keeping the On/Off switch (0) pressed for about 2 seconds, and then remove the plug from the wall socket.

General cleaning and care

Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
If necessary, the housing may be wiped with a dry lint-free cloth.

Disposal

Do not dispose of old or defective appliances in domestic garbage; this should only be done through public collection points.

Guarantee

This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the instructions, and provided that it has not been modified, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse.

This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods. If the product fails to operate and needs to be returned, pack it carefully, enclosing your name and address

and the reason for return. If within the guarantee period, please also provide the guarantee card and proof of purchase.
