5. Power cord with plug
Important safety instructions Caution: z do not use the appliance in the vicinity of a bath, shower or swimming- pool, over a washbasin lled with water or near any other receptacle containing water. Protect the appliance from moisture and splashing water and do not operate it with wet hands. In the vicinity of any water source, there z is a risk even when the appliance is switched o . erefore, always remove the plug from the wall socket a er use, especially if the appliance is being used in a bathroom. Additional protection is available by tting an earth-leakage circuit-breaker with a rated tripping current not exceeding 30mA into your bathroom installation. Please consult a quali ed electrician. Electric heating appliances operate at very z high temperatures. Do not touch any part of the appliance except the grip. Otherwise there is a real risk of burning. Do not use the appliance on synthetic hair- z pieces or wigs, as the heat emitted might cause damage to the synthetic bres. Make sure the air intake and outlet z openings are not blocked (e.g. by ngers or hair), and that no u or bre particles are allowed to accumulate in the air intake. A blockage in the air- ow system may cause the integral thermal safety cut- out to switch o the appliance. Should this occur, immediately disconnect the appliance from the mains power and allow su cient time for it to cool down before the blockage is removed and the appliance is switched on again. Before the appliance is used, the main z body as well as any attachments tted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. If the appliance, for instance, has been dropped onto a hard surface, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse e ects on its operational safety. e power cord should be regularly z examined for any signs of damage. In the event of such damage being found, the appliance must no longer be used. Do not operate the appliance if excessive z force has been used to pull the power cord. Damage cannot always be detected from the outside; the entire unit should therefore be checked by a quali ed technician before it is used again. To prevent damage to the power cord, z do not bend or kink the cable, especially - where it leaves the housing, do not pull on the cord, - do not coil the power cord around the -
7appliance. Do not leave the appliance unattended z while in use. Always remove the plug from the wall z socket a er use, - in case of any malfunction, - before cleaning the appliance. - When removing the plug from the wall z socket, never pull on the power cord; always grip the plug itself. Do not place the appliance on any surfaces z sensitive to heat during or immediately a er use. is appliance is not intended for use z by any person (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure z that they do not play with the appliance. Caution: z Keep any packaging materials well away from children: there is a risk of su ocation. No responsibility will be accepted if z damage results from improper use, or if these instructions are not complied with. is appliance is intended for domestic use z only and not for commercial applications. Dryer models with IONIC function When brushing hair, the friction may create a static charge, causing the hair to ‘ y’. By generating negative ions, the IONIC function largely neutralises this static charge and makes it easier to treat the hair. e IONIC function is automatically enabled during use, irrespective of the switch settings; it is indicated by the indicator light. Styling nozzle e styling nozzle can be tted to the air outlet to facilitate shaping the hair during blow drying. Volume di usor e volume di usor is also tted to the air outlet. e di usor is used to create or maintain the volume and natural look of curly or wavy hair. Always start at the ends of the hair, working your way towards the roots. Move the di usor with a gentle circular motion over the head. For increased volume, the hair should be gently blow-dried from above, i.e. with the head forward and hair hanging down. Air- ow and temperature controls By using di erent combinations of the air- ow and temperature controls, various settings are possible when drying the hair. e air- ow control regulates the air- ow intensity, while the temperature control regulates the heat of the air- ow. With the air- ow control set to the ‘O’- position, the hair-dryer is switched o . Cool function A er using the heat setting, the cool function can be employed. is supplies cooler air to help rm the hair and give it an attractive shine. Operation Connect the hair dryer to a suitable wall socket and select the desired power setting with the switches integrated in the handle. Cleaning and care Before cleaning the hair dryer, remove z the plug from the wall socket and let the appliance cool down completely. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do z 8not clean the hair dryer with water nor immerse it in water. If necessary, the housing of the hair dryer – may be wiped with a dry lint-free cloth. e air intake grille can be removed – to facilitate cleaning. To remove, slide the grille to the le and remove any accumulated lint particles or hair before replacing it. Make sure that you insert the grille into the guide slot the correct way round (i.e. with the locking pieces facing down). Disposal Do not dispose of old or defective appliances in domestic garbage; this should only be done through public collection points.
