Before using for the first time
Clean the water bowl, the egg holder and lid with a damp cloth.
How to use your egg boiler
- Fill the measuring cup completely with cold water and pour the measured quantity into the water bowl.
- Pierce the blunt end of each egg with the piercer; this will reduce the risk of the eggs cracking during boiling.
- Place the eggs into the holder, fit the holder onto the water bowl and put the lid on.
- Use the boiling-time control to select the desired degree of hardness:
-soft
- medium
- hard
- The markings refer to medium-size eggs. However, it is possible to adjust the degree of hardness infinitely, depending on the number and size of eggs to be boiled.
The size of the eggs to be used can be selected underneath the symbols for the boiling-time control: For smaller-sized eggs, use a setting to the left of the boiling-time control, and a setting to the right for larger eggs. - If the egg holder is completely full, the adjustment wheel should be turned a little further to the right of the desired level of hardness.
- The perfect degree of hardness very much depends on individual taste; should the eggs turn out too soft or too hard, try a slightly different setting next time.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and use the On/Off switch to turn the egg boiler on. The indicator light comes on.
- A beep is heard once the pre-set cooking
time for the desired hardness of the eggs has elapsed.
- Switch off the appliance. The indicator light goes out. Remove the plug from the wall socket.
- Open the lid. Caution: when the lid is opened, hot steam will escape.
- Remove the egg holder with the eggs from the bowl and place it immediately under cold running water. Note: if the eggs are not removed from the boiler and quenched under cold water immediately, they will continue to harden.
- Let the appliance cool down and pour out any remaining water.
Cleaning and care
Always remove the plug from the wall socket, allow the appliance to cool down and pour out any remaining water before cleaning.
- To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water.
- In order to prevent the polished surfaces from being damaged or scratched, do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions.
- Wipe the water bowl with a damp cloth only.
- Any build-up of deposits on the water bowl can be removed using a solution of water and vinegar. Then let the appliance run through one boiling cycle using fresh cold water to clean it of any vinegar residue.
- Thoroughly rinse the egg holder and wipe dry afterwards.
- The lid may be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
