General
The DSRM-10 Remote Control Unit is designed to control a videocassette recorder or player. It can be connected to the following models: DSR-85/80/60 (or DSR-85P/80P/60P), SVO-9500MD/9600/5800 (or SVO-9500MDP/9620/5800P), SVP-9000/5600 (or SVP-9020/5600P) and UVW-1800/1700G/1600/1400A/1400/1200 (or UVW-1800P/1700GP/1600P/1400AP/1400P/1200P). When used with one of these units, the DSRM-10 adds the following functions.
Jog/shuttle search
With the shuttle dial, the playback image can be viewed at -16 to +16 times normal speed as well as in still mode. With the jog dial, the playback image can be viewed at -2 to +2 times normal speed as well as in still mode.
Note
The speed ranges in jog and shuttle modes may depend on the type of recorder or player connected.

① STOP■button
Press to stop the tape.
②REC●(recording) button
For recording, press the PLAY button ⑤ while holding down this button.
③ PAUSE button
Press to stop the tape momentarily.
④ REW (rewind) button
Press to rewind the tape.
When the tape is being rewound, pressing this button again and holding it sets high-speed search mode, switching the tape speed to 32 times normal speed (for the DSR-85/85P/80/80P/60/60P only). The high-speed search mode stays as long as you hold this button.
⑤ PLAY button
Press to play the tape back.
Pressing the REC button ② while holding down this button starts recording.
⑥ F FWD (fast forward) button
Press to fast forward the tape.
When the tape is being fast forwarded, pressing this button again and holding it sets high-speed search mode, switching the tape speed to 32 times normal speed (for the DSR-85/85P/80/80P/60/60P only). The high-speed search mode stays as long as you hold this button.
⑦ JOG/SHUTTLE button/indicator
Press to play the tape in jog/shuttle mode. The indicator lights and the recorder or player enters jog/shuttle mode.
Press any tape transport button to return to the normal operating mode.
Search dials
Clockwise rotation plays the tape in the forward direction and counterclockwise rotation plays it in the reverse direction.
Shuttle dial (outer): The speed of playback is determined by the position of the dial, in the range from -16 to +16 times normal speed. When the shuttle dial is in its center position, a still image is obtained.
Jog dial (inner): The speed of playback is determined by the speed of turning the dial, in the range from -2 to +2 times normal speed.
Note
The jog dial only operates when the shuttle dial is in its center click position.

Connection
Connect this unit to the remote control unit connector of the recorder or player. The connector name depends on the recorder or player type, as shown in the table below.

Power is automatically supplied to this unit from the recorder or player.

Operation
The tape transport buttons of this unit function the same as those on the recorder or player. Recording, playback, fast forward, rewind and pause can be remotely controlled from this unit.
Jog/Shuttle Search
Using the search dials, a search operation can be performed in either jog or shuttle mode.
Jog mode: The speed of playback is determined by the speed of turning the jog dial, in the range from -2 to +2 times normal speed.
Shuttle mode: The speed of playback is determined by the position of the shuttle dial, in the range from -16 to +16 times normal speed. When the shuttle dial is in its center position, a still image is obtained.
The speed ranges in jog and shuttle modes may depend on the type of recorder or player connected. Refer to the operating instructions for the recorder or player.
Note
When operating immediately after the power is turned on, be sure to first return the shuttle dial to its center position.

1 Press the JOG/SHUTTLE button to activate jog/shuttle mode.
The JOG/SHUTTLE indicator lights.
2 To search in jog mode
1) Set the shuttle dial to the center click position.
2) Turn the jog dial.
Each time you turn the jog dial by a discrete amount, this jogs the playback one frame at a time, either forward or backward.
To search in shuttle mode
Turn the shuttle dial.
A playback image appears at the speed according to the angle of the dial rotation. When the dial is set at the center click position, the tape stops and still image is obtained.
To exit from jog/shuttle mode
Press any tape transport button.
The JOG/SHUTTLE indicator goes off, and the recorder or player changes to the operation corresponding to the pressed button.
