How to empty the dustbin of the Simplicity Jill vacuum?

Press the dustbin release button, remove it and empty the contents into a trash bin. Rinse the dustbin with warm water if necessary and let it dry before putting it back in place.

The battery does not hold a charge, what to do?

Make sure the battery is properly inserted. If the problem persists, the battery may have reached the end of its life. Contact customer service to order a replacement battery (reference: SIM-BAT-JILL).

How to clean the HEPA filter?

Remove the filter, tap it to remove dust, then wash it with cold water. Let it dry completely for 24 hours before putting it back. Do not use detergent.

The vacuum emits a burning smell, is it normal?

This may indicate a clogged filter or a blockage in the brush. Stop the appliance, clean the filter and check that no object is blocking the brush. If the smell persists, contact support.

Can the Jill vacuum be used on hardwood floors?

Yes, the motorized brush is suitable for hard floors. You can also use the crevice tool to avoid scratches. If marks appear, reduce the suction power.

How to charge the battery?

Plug the supplied charger into a mains outlet and connect it to the battery. The indicator light shows charging status: red when charging, green when complete. Full charge takes approximately 4 hours.

The vacuum does not start, what to check?

Check that the battery is charged and properly engaged. Make sure the dustbin is securely locked. If the problem persists, the motor unit may be at fault; contact after-sales service.

What is the actual runtime of the Jill vacuum?

The advertised runtime is 30 minutes in normal mode. In turbo mode or on thick carpets, it can drop to 15-20 minutes. A full charge cycle restores capacity.

How to store the Jill vacuum?

The vacuum can be stored flat or upright thanks to its stable base. Do not lean the tube against the wall. The battery can be removed for storage if the appliance is not used for a long time.

- Empty the bag when the full bag indicator turns red. Over-filling the bag may cause dirt and debris to clog the vacuum and cause loss of suction.

- Always unplug the vacuum from the electrical outlet before replacing the bag or filters.

- Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.

- WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK COULD OCCUR IF USED OUTDOORS OR ON WET SURFACES.

- Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

- Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer's recommended attachments.

- Do not use with damaged cord or plug. Or if appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to your Authorized Simplicity Retailer for service.

- Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.

- Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.

- Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on the cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

- Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduce air flow.

- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.

- Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches or hot ashes.

- Do not use without bag or filters in place.

- Turn off all controls before unplugging.

- Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline or use in areas where they may be present.

- Do not attempt to service the unit while appliance is plugged in.

- Do not use vacuum to pick up water or any wet materials.

- Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

Power Cord, 2-Wire Polarized Cord

To reduce the risk of electric shock, the vacuum is equipped with a polarized alternating current line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact a qualified electrician to replace the obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug.

Hose Inlet

• Insert the hose into the inlet until it clicks into place.
• When separating the hose from the canister body, pull the hose inlet while pressing the buttons.

Suction Control Slide

• Full suction power may be too strong for some cleaning situations.
- Slide the suction control to adjust the suction power coming through the hose. Slide the control forward to restore full suction power.

Storage

• The wand conveniently stores in two locations on the canister body.

PARTS IDENTIFICATION AND OPERATION

Full Bag Indicator

• The full bag indicator changes to red when the bag is full or if there is a clog in the vacuum.
  • If the red indicator appears:

• Change the vacuum bag

• If the vacuum bag is not full check the hose for a clog.
• When cleaning with a tool (dusting brush, upholstery tool or crevice tool), the red indicator may appear. In this case, continue cleaning.

Replacing the Vacuum Bag

Always operate the vacuum with a bag installed. The bag compartment lid will not close without a bag properly installed in the bag holder. The bag should be changed when the full bag indicator turns red or suction power is weak.

1. Unplug the vacuum. Open the bag compartment lid.
2. Remove the bag holder from the bag compartment. (Fig. 1)
3. Grasp the bag collar to slide the bag out of the holder.
4. Discard the used bag and slide a new bag into the holder.
5. Replace the bag holder into the slot in the bag compartment.

NOTE: Do NOT throw away the bag holder. The bag cannot be reused.

Replacing the HEPA Media Filter

1. Unplug the vacuum. Open the bag compartment lid.
2. Push the black tab on the filter and lift up to remove. (Fig. 2)
3. Discard the used filter.
4. Slide a new filter into place and push down until it clicks into place.

Replacing the Secondary Filter

1. Unplug the vacuum. Open the bag compartment lid.
2. Slide the filter holder up and out of the bag compartment. (Fig. 3)
3. Remove the used filter from the filter holder.
4. Discard the used filter.
5. Place a new filter inside the filter holder and slide it back into place.

NOTE: Do NOT throw away the secondary filter holder. The filters cannot be washed and reused.

It is recommended to replace the filter set every six months.
