Frequently Asked Questions - IAN 56912 SILVERCREST

How do I change the battery?
Open the battery compartment on the underside of the scale. Remove the old CR2032 battery and insert a new one with the positive side facing up. Close the compartment securely.
Why does my scale show inconsistent weight readings?
Place the scale on a hard, flat surface (not carpet). Ensure your feet are centered and dry. Weigh yourself at the same time of day for consistency.
What does 'Err' or 'Lo' mean on the display?
'Err' indicates an overload (weight exceeds 150 kg). 'Lo' means the battery is low; replace the CR2032 battery.
How do I switch between kg, lb, and stones?
Press the unit button on the back or bottom of the scale. Each press cycles through kg, lb, and st. The scale must be turned on.
Can I use the scale on carpet?
It is not recommended. For accurate readings, place the scale on a hard, level floor such as tile or wood.
How do I clean the scale?
Wipe the glass surface and body with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse in water.
My scale won't turn on. What should I do?
Check if the battery is properly installed and has enough charge. Replace with a new CR2032 battery if necessary. Also ensure the scale is tapped to wake it up.
Is the scale suitable for people with pacemakers?
The scale uses a low electrical current to measure weight. Consult your doctor if you have a pacemaker or other medical implant.
What is the maximum weight limit?
The maximum capacity is 150 kg (330 lb). Exceeding this may damage the scale and cause inaccurate readings.
How long does the battery last?
With normal use (one weighing per day), the CR2032 battery should last approximately 1-2 years. Replace when the low battery indicator appears.

Operation

- Weighing

Place the baby scales on a firm, horizontal and flat surface.

☐ Do not place the baby scales on a carpet or towel or any other soft surface. Otherwise the result may be affected. In special situations you can place a board on the surface and put the baby scales on the board. A solid surface is a requirement for correct weighing.

Turn the baby scales on with the power button 1.

Note: if you do not want to put the baby directly on the weighing surface, but on a towel or similar item, the towel has to be placed on the baby scales before the scales are switched on in order to ensure that the weight of the towel is not included.

☐ Initially the previously stored weight is displayed. In the condition as supplied to the customer the scales show 20.00 kg. As soon as the display changes to "0.00" kg and "Ready" the weighing procedure can begin.

Place the baby carefully on the scales. Be careful with its head and do not drop the baby.

As soon as the baby is still enough to obtain an accurate measurement, the word "HOLD" flashes in the display and the weight is shown for 10 seconds.

Note: if the baby moves too much it is not possible to determine its weight. In such cases you should try to calm the baby. However, you should not touch it, as this would cause an incorrect weight to be displayed.

☐ If you would like to store the weight, press the M button 3 within this 10-second period. Instead of "HOLD" the letter "M" now flashes. The weight is now stored and is displayed when you turn the baby scales on again.

☐ The baby scales switch off automatically.

Operation / Cleaning / Information

TARE function

Note: if the towel or other item which you would like to subtract after weighing the baby weighs more than 200 g, you can subtract its weight with the TARE function.

Turn on the baby scales with the power button 1.
Place the object on the weighing surface and wait until the word "HOLD" flashes in the display.
□ Press the TARE button 4.
□ Weigh the baby as described above.

● Changing the unit of measurement

Note: in the condition as supplied to the customer the weight unit is set to kg.

☐ Press the lb/kg/oz button 2 in order to switch between lb (pounds), kg (kilograms) and oz (ounces).

● Replacing the batteries

Note: The baby scales are equipped with a "battery replacement display". If the baby scales are used when the batteries are too weak, the following is shown in the display □.

In this case you should replace the flat batteries with four new batteries of the same type (1.5 V —— AAA).
Open the battery compartment lid on the underside of the baby scales.
☐ Remove the flat batteries and dispose of them as described in the section on "Disposal".

Note: when inserting the batteries, please ensure that the contacts are not bent.

☐ Insert the new batteries into the battery compartment. When inserting the batteries, please ensure the correct polarity! This is shown in the battery compartment.

☐ Close the battery compartment.

Note: if the battery scales are not working, please check whether you have inserted the batteries correctly, and reinsert them properly if necessary.

- Cleaning

□ Clean the device with a slightly damp cloth. In cases of increased soiling you can also moisten the cloth with a light detergent.
☐ Do not use chemical cleaners or scouring agents for cleaning the device.
