How to change the key of the FR-18 D RD?

Press the [KEY] button (it lights up). Then press one of the 12 buttons on the first two rows of the right-hand keyboard to select the desired key (C, C#, D, etc.). The [KEY] button turns off automatically.

How to install batteries in the FR-18 D RD?

Turn off the instrument. Remove the battery compartment cover by pressing the two tabs. Insert 8 rechargeable Ni-MH AA batteries respecting polarity (+/-). Close the cover. Note: batteries are not charged in the instrument; use an external charger.

Can I use headphones with the FR-18 D RD?

Yes, plug a stereo headphone (recommended: Roland RH) into the [PHONES] jack on the connection panel. Adjust the volume with the [VOLUME] control. The sound from the OUTPUT jacks remains active.

How to save my settings in a user program?

Hold down the [USER PROGRAM/DEC] button (it flashes). The right-hand register of the last used program lights up. Press the register [1] to [4] where you want to save. The button stops flashing: the settings are saved.

How to load a different accordion set?

Press the [SET] register (it lights up blue). Then press one of the right-hand registers [1] to [4] to choose a family (FOLK, ETHNIC, WORLD, USER). To select a specific set within the family, press the same register multiple times (each press changes the set).

How to use a USB memory with the FR-18 D RD?

Plug a Roland (or compatible) USB memory into the USB MEMORY port on the right-hand panel. You can save user programs (.USD extension) or load additional sets and tablatures. Follow the instructions in the manual for backup/restore operations.

How to adjust the balance between right hand and left hand?

Hold down the [SET] register (it flashes slowly). Press button 3 on the right-hand keyboard to select the 'Balance' parameter. Use registers [1] to [4] to choose a preset, or press [DEC]/[INC] for fine adjustment. Press [SET] twice to exit.

How to activate the metronome?

Hold down the [SET] register and press the right-hand register [3] (METRON). The metronome starts. To stop it, repeat the operation. You can adjust the time signature, tempo and volume in Function mode (dedicated parameters).

How to change the keyboard tablature?

Press the [TABLATURE] button (it lights up). Then press a button on the first row of the right-hand keyboard corresponding to the desired tablature number (1 to 12). The [TABLATURE] button turns off. You can also combine with the [KEY] button to set the original key.

How to connect the FR-18 D RD to an external MIDI device?

Use the MIDI OUT/IN jack to connect a standard MIDI cable. For a computer connection, use the USB MIDI port with a standard USB cable. MIDI settings (channels, reception) are adjusted via Function mode (hold [SET] then select the appropriate parameters).
