How to connect the A-500PRO to a computer?

Use the supplied USB cable to connect the A-500PRO to a USB port on your computer. Set the [POWER] switch to USB for bus power. Install the driver provided on the CD-ROM before or after connection depending on your OS (Windows or Mac). Refer to the Driver Installation section of the manual for details.

Can I use the A-500PRO without a computer?

Yes, you can connect the A-500PRO directly to a MIDI sound generator (synthesizer, module) via the MIDI IN/OUT connectors. In this case, use an AC adapter (sold separately) for power.

How to select a sound via MIDI?

In Play mode, use the pads or the [VALUE] button to change the Program Change number. For sounds in different banks, first send a Bank Select message (CC#00 and CC#32) via Bank mode, then the Program Change.

How to split the keyboard into two zones (Split)?

Press the [SPLIT] button to split the keyboard into two zones: right part (UPPER) and left part (LOWER). You can set the split point using the A-PRO Editor software or directly on the device in Edit mode (Keyboard Set).

What is the ACT function?

ACT (Active Controller Technology) allows you to control parameters of SONAR or compatible software directly from the A-500PRO. Press the [ACT] button to activate it, then use the controllers to control effects, synths, etc.

How to assign a MIDI message to a button or slider?

Enter Edit mode by pressing [ACT] and [←] simultaneously. Select the controller (button, slider, etc.), then choose the message type (Note, Control Change, Program Change, etc.) and set the values. Confirm with [ENTER].

How to reset the device?

In Edit mode, access system settings and select FACTORY RESET. Confirm to restore factory settings. Note: all custom assignments will be lost.

How to adjust keyboard sensitivity (Velocity)?

In Edit mode, go to KEYBOARD VELOCITY CURVE. You can choose from several velocity curves or set a fixed velocity via KEY VELOCITY. Use the [VALUE] button to adjust.
