How to charge the battery of the Aiptek T230?

Connect the supplied charger to the DC input of the camcorder, then plug it into a wall outlet. The indicator light shows charging. A full charge takes about 3 hours.

Which memory card to use with the T230?

The camcorder accepts SD and SDHC cards up to 32 GB. Insert the card into the slot with the contacts facing inward.

How to transfer videos to a computer?

Connect the camcorder to the computer via the supplied USB cable. Turn on the device in Playback mode. The computer detects the camcorder as a removable drive. Copy your files.

What to do if the screen stays black?

Check that the battery is charged and properly inserted. If the problem persists, reset the device by removing the battery and reinserting it after 30 seconds.

How to delete all files from the memory card?

In the camcorder menu, select Settings then Format. Confirm. Caution: this action deletes all data.

Zoom not working, what to do?

Make sure you are in recording mode. Digital zoom is not available in photo mode. Try using the W (wide) and T (tele) buttons.

How to take a photo during video recording?

The T230 allows capturing a photo during video by pressing the dedicated shutter button. However, quality may be reduced.

What is the maximum video resolution?

The maximum video resolution is 1280 x 720 pixels (HD 720p) at 30 frames per second.

How to reset to factory settings?

Go to Menu > Setup > Reset. Confirm with Yes. The settings return to default values.

The device won't turn on, battery full?

Try removing the battery, wait 10 seconds, then reinsert it. If that doesn't work, plug in the charger and turn it on. If still nothing, contact customer service.

Getting Started

Loading the battery

1. Fix LCD panel/ screen [8] in close position.
2. Open the battery cover [12].
3. Insert 2x AA alkaline batteries into the camera. Make sure that the polarisation of the batteries is like shown in the picture.
4. Close the battery cover [12].

Inserting the Micro SD card

This DV camcorder (camera) has built-in internal memory. This memory can be extended with a microSD memory card (not included in standard packaging).

1. Turn off the DV camcorder (camera) first.
2. Insert the micro SD card as the direction shown in the picture. Put carefully in until it reaches the end of the micro SD card slot [6].

3. Turn on the DV camcorder (camera). When the card is inserted successfully, the icon will appear on the display.

4. To remove the card, push it slightly in until card pop out by itself.

Notice:

* Please do not insert and take out micro SD card when DV (camera) is on, or the DV (camera) will turn off automatically.
* There is only one right direction to insert micro SD card into the slot. Do not force the card into the slot, or both DV (camera) and micro SD card slot will be damaged.
* The micro SD card must be formatted before taking video and pictures.

Turning on/off the camcorder

To turn on the camcorder, either open the LCD panel / screen [8] or press the Power & Icon On / Off [19] button for 3 seconds.

To turn off the camcorder, either close the LCD panel / screen [8] or press the Power & Icon On / Off [19] button for 3 seconds.

1) The battery is correctly loaded;
2) The loaded battery has enough power.

How to setup the language

Please choose your local language before using the camcorder.

1. Press the Menu [18] button to enter the Menu.
2. Press the Right/ EV± [17] button to select the Setup menu.
3. Use the Zoom button/ Up & Down [2] button to navigate to point language. Press the Photo mode & Shutter/ OK [1] button to enter the language menu.
4. Use the Zoom button/ Up & Down [2] button to choose the language you want and press the Photo mode & Shutter/ OK [1] button to confirm.
5. Press the Menu [18] button to exit the Menu.

Recording a video clip

1. Set the focus to an appropriate setting by using the Macro switch [9].

Normally, you may set the focus to (▲ for most filming conditions.

Select (only for close-ups.

1. Press the VIDEO mode/ RECORD [3] (n) button to start recording.

2. Use the Zoom button/ Up & Down [2] (+/-) button to zoom in or zoom out the screen.

3. Press the VIDEO mode/ RECORD [3] (button again to stop recording.

Taking a still picture

1. Set the focus to an appropriate setting. Normally, you may set the focus to ( ) for most filming conditions.

Select ( ) only for close-ups.

1. Use the Zoom button/ Up & Down [2] (+/-) button to zoom in or zoom out the screen.

2. Press the Photo mode & Shutter/ OK [1] (i) to take a still picture.

Note: The flash light is not available when using ( ) and continuous shot ( ) mode.

Note: The continuous shot function is not available when Scene Mode setting is Night mode.

Note: When in low light, the hand-shaking icon ( ) might appear as the pictures taken might be blur caused by the hand shake.

Playing back still picture or video clip

To playback the recorded videos/pictures, press the Playback [4] (▶ button.

1. To play back still picture or video clip. Use Left/ Flash light [16] button for Last file and Right/EV± [17] button for Next file. The file NO is displayed in the bottom of the display. To playback a video clip, press the VIDEO mode/ RECORD [3] button.
2. Use Zoom button Up and Down to zoom in /out the still picture.
3. Pan function: After zoom in, you could press the Left or Right button to enter Pan function. Press the Left or Right button again to move from one end of the picture to the other.

Exporting to a TV

The TV system is different across areas. If you need to adjust the TV-out setting, please refer to the “Advanced settings” section for more information. (Taiwan: NTSC; America: NTSC; Europe: PAL; China: PAL)

1. Turn on your TV and switch the TV to AV mode.
2. Connect the audio and video ends of the USB /AV combo cable to the TV.
3. Connect the other end of the USB /AV combo cable to your camcorder.
4. Turn on the camcorder.
5. To play back still picture or video clip. Use Left/ Flash light [16] button for Last file and Right/ EV± [17] button for Next file. The file no is displayed in the bottom of the display. To playback a video clip, press the VIDEO mode/ RECORD [3] button.
6. Use Zoom button Up and Down to zoom in /out the still picture.

Troubleshooting

Problem Cause Solution
Cannot turn on the unit	1. Low battery power.2. Battery placed at wrong polarities.	Replace or install the battery correctly.
