d. Advice for use
Griddle cooking guarantees a healthy and varied menu of vegetables, fish and meat. Thanks to its adjustable thermostat, you can adapt the cooking temperature to the type of dish you want to prepare.
Light the griddle and leave it to warm up for a few minutes at maximum power (the hot plate must be very hot), then turn down to a lower power level before putting the food items on the griddle and set the temperature according to the type of dish being prepared.
The griddle allows you to set the cooking temperature manually.
The temperature for each hot plate can be chosen separately in order to best suit each type of food item.
- Having installed the hot plates, select the temperature for each hot plate using the left and right-hand thermostats. The thermostat indicator will turn red.
- When the appliance has reached the selected temperatures, the indicator lights will stop blinking and the red light will stay lit.
- Place the food items on the hot plates.
Note: When the cold food items are placed on the appliance, the temperature of the hot plates might drop momentarily below the selected temperature. If this happens, the indicator lights of the thermostats concerned will flash red. The flashing will stop when the chosen temperature is reached again.
Note: Do not touch the anti-splash guard during cooking since it can heat up to high temperatures.
- You can change the temperature of each of the plates during cooking if necessary.
Note: There might be a slight odour or a little smoke when you use the appliance for the first time.
e. Drip tray
The base of the appliance is fitted with a drip tray on its front side.
- Slide the drip tray into the base.
- The juice from cooking will drip from the hot plates into the collection tray.
- Wait until the griddle has cooled down before emptying the drip tray.
- The tray can be washed in the dishwasher.
f. Turning the appliance off
- After use, turn the thermostats to the 'OFF' position and unplug the device.
g. Table of cooking modes and times
The cooking times are for reference only and will vary depending on the amount of food being cooked or the size or thickness of the food.

5. ADVICE FROM THE CHEFS
- To preserve the non-stick qualities of the cooking plates, avoid heating them for too long with nothing on them and/or cleaning them with anything abrasive.
• After use, blot dry the excess grease on the plates using kitchen paper. You will clean the plates more quickly this way once they have cooled. - It is best to use wood or silicone utensils to return foods and to avoid cutting food on the hot plates.
- Cut your food into pieces of identical size to ensure even cooking.
- With practice, you will become familiar with cooking times and the necessary adjustment to cook the food to your taste.
- For the best results, lightly grease your food using a brush before grilling. The grease will transfer the heat more successfully.
- Prepare spice- or condiment-based marinades for meats or fish - grilled food will be tastier and food cooked on the griddle more tender.
- If you have grilled fish and shellfish on the plates, rub the plates with a cloth soaked in lemon juice.
6. CLEANING AND STORAGE
- After use, turn the thermostats to the 'OFF' position, unplug the griddle and let it cool down completely (at least 1/2 hour) before cleaning it.
- Use the cleaning/scraping tool to remove any food residue that remains on the cooking plates.
• Empty the juice-collection tray after use. - Remove the hot plates by pushing in the hot plate unlocking buttons.
- The cleaning/scraping tool, the juice-collection tray and the plates can be washed in hot soapy water or in the dishwasher.
- Do not use metal objects such as knives or forks or abrasive sponges and products as they may damage the coating.
- Use a damp cloth and a little soft detergent to clean the body of the appliance. Never use abrasive sponges or products.
- Regularly cleaning the appliance prevents build-up. The griddle will then continue to be easy to clean and will perform at the same high level.
• Before putting away the griddle, put the juice-collection tray and the cleaning spatula back in place.
7. QUESTIONS/ANSWERS
| WHAT DO I DO IF: ANSWERS | |
| The appliance gives off smoke the first time I use it? | It's normal for the appliance to give off a little smoke when it is used for the first time. Clean the appliance with a damp cloth before turning it on. |
| The appliance turns itself off? Check that the thermostats are not turned to the 'OFF' position and that the appliance is plugged in correctly. It is possible that the appliance has overheated . Unplug the appliance and allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes. Turn it on as usual and start cooking again. | |
| What if the food isn't cooking? Check that the plug is plugged in properly and that the thermostats are properly lit. Also make sure you allow the appliance to heat up before placing food on the plates. | |
| What if the barbecued food doesn't sear and cooking is difficult? | Check that the selected temperature is suitable for the food and allow sufficient pre-heating time before placing food on the plates. |
| How do you cook different kinds of food? Cook each food item on a different hot plate so that the flavours don't mix. | |
