Frequently Asked Questions - Rapid Xpress 8 FAGOR

How to use the Rapid Xpress 8 pressure cooker for the first time?
Before first use, wash all parts with soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Ensure the sealing gasket is properly installed. Fill the cooker with at least 250 ml of liquid, close the lid aligning the markings, and lock the handle. Heat on high until the valve whistles, then reduce heat to maintain pressure.
What is the maximum filling capacity?
Never fill the cooker beyond 2/3 of its capacity. For foods that foam (dried legumes, rice), do not exceed half. The total capacity is 8 liters.
How to know when the pressure is reached?
When the pressure valve begins to whistle steadily and steam escapes from the valve, pressure is reached. You can then reduce heat to maintain cooking.
Does the cooker work on an induction hob?
Yes, the Fagor Rapid Xpress 8 cooker is compatible with all types of cooking, including induction, thanks to its adapted base. Check that the hob diameter matches the cooker's base.
How to clean the sealing gasket?
Remove the gasket after each use and wash it with warm soapy water. Do not put it in the dishwasher. Dry it thoroughly before replacing to avoid odors.
What to do if steam escapes through the lid during cooking?
This may indicate that the gasket is not properly installed or is worn. Check that the gasket is correctly in place and free of cracks. If the problem persists, replace the gasket. Also ensure the lid is properly locked.
Can the cooker be opened immediately after cooking?
No, never force the opening. Wait until the pressure has completely dropped. Use the quick pressure release valve if in a hurry, but following safety instructions.
Where to buy spare parts (gasket, valve)?
You can order spare parts directly from Fagor customer service or from specialized sites like notice-facile.com. The gasket and valve are common consumables.
Is the cooker covered by warranty?
Yes, the Fagor Rapid Xpress 8 cooker has a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Keep your proof of purchase. The warranty does not cover normal wear of gaskets and valves.
Can foods be cooked without liquid in a pressure cooker?
No, it is essential to add at least 250 ml of liquid (water, broth, sauce) to generate steam and allow pressurization. Without liquid, the cooker may overheat and be damaged.

» You do not need to defrost frozen pulses or small fi sh Increase cooking time by a few minutes when cooking large fi sh and frozen meat.
» Frothy soups (e.g. pea soup, etc.) should be fi rst cooked with the lid off. Before closing the lid remove the froth with a skimmer.
» You do not need to worry about water evaporation as only a very small amount of vapour actually escapes.
» Brown meat a little more than normal as the vapour tends to lighten the colour. Cooking times will depend on its thickness and quality.
» Clean fi sh well, squeeze a little lemon juice over the top and season immediately before cooking.

  1. DECOMPRESSION. There are several ways of reducing the pressure:

6.1 Quick decompression. Place the pressure cooker under the extractor hood or take it outside. Then turn the valve to (Fig.3.2).

6.2 Quick decompression by cooling.

Pour a little cold water over a corner of the lid until the orange indicator drops. Never submerge the pressure cooker in water, as this is very dangerous.

6.3 Natural decompression.

If you let the pressure cooker cool down in the position you have cooked the food in, take this extra time into account when calculating the cooking times.

  1. OPENING THE PRESSURE COOKER. Move the open-close selector to the open position and turn the lid handle to the right holding the body handle in your left hand (fi g. 6).

IV MAINTENANCE

  1. Do not use the pressure cooker to store food, before or after cooking. When you have finished cooking, wash it with hot water and non-abrasive detergent. Make sure there is no food residues stuck to the pressure cooker, as this could cause corrosion spots. Rinse and dry it.
  2. Take special care on washing the inside of the lid.
  3. The pressure cooker lid is not dishwasher-safe. The body and accessories (glass lid, basket, etc.) are washable but must be dried as soon as the cycle ends.
  4. On cooking, bluish stains may appear on the stainless steel. To remove them, use warm

water with a dash of vinegar and rub with a soft cloth. The white marks caused by scale can be removed in the same way.

  1. We recommend you add salt at the end of the cooking process, to reduce its impact on the stainless steel.

Do not use wire sponges or abrasive products as these could scratch the stainless steel coating.

  1. Clean the sealing gasket manually after each use.
  2. Check that the vapour outlets are clean and free from obstructions.
  3. Safety valve. Before each use, press the sphere with a ballpoint pen to make sure it is not obstructed.
  4. Gasket. We recommend that you replace the gasket every 1 or 2 years, depending on the frequency of use.

IMPORTANT: Do not adjust parts or attempt to assemble them in any way other than that indicated. ALWAYS USE ORIGINAL SPARE PARTS.
