IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

  1. Please read these instructions carefully and keep them in a safe place.
  2. This appliance is not designed to be used by persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lacking in experience and/or knowledge. This is unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety, or they are instructed by such a person on how to use the appliance.
  3. Children should be supervised in order to ensure they don't play with the machine.
  4. Connect the appliance to alternating current only, in accordance with the rating plate.
  5. Appliances are not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
  6. Never immerse the kettle in water or any other liquid.
  7. Switch, base, and cable must not come into contact with water. Should this happen accidentally, then ensure that all parts are completely dry before the kettle is used again.

  8. Only use the kettle to boil water; do NOT heat milk or other liquids in the kettle, as it might boil over.

  9. Never place the base on a hot surface or a metal tray.
  10. Always check that the lid is securely closed and do not switch on the kettle if it does not contain water.
  11. This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:
    ■ staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments;
    ■ farm houses;
    ■ by client in hotels, motels and other working environments;
    ■ bed and breakfast type environments.

  12. Ensure that all users are fully aware of the danger of escaping hot steam and splashing boiling water.

  13. Ensure, that the power cord does not hang down from the worktop as children can pull the cord and thereby cause a serious accident.

  14. Do not use the appliance outdoors.

  15. Make sure that the kettle is used on a flat surface. The appliance or the cable must not be close to heating sources or open flames.
  16. Do not open the appliance as long as the water is boiling.
  17. The kettle and must only be used with the corresponding base, but in no case with accessories of other kettle makes.
  18. Unplug the appliance after use and before cleaning it.
  19. The kettle is fitted with a boil-dry protection which switches off the heating when it becomes too hot, for instance when the kettle has boiled dry. Allow the kettle to cool down for approx. 15 minutes. Then fill

the kettle with cold water. This will reset the shutoff so that the kettle can be used again.

  1. Check the plug and power cord regularly for wear and damage. In case of a fault, please send the appliance for inspection/repair to our after sales service (address see last page). Inadequate repair may constitute a risk for the user and result in the loss of guarantee.

CAUTION!

Do not open the kettle, when water is still boiling. Do not overfill.

If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.

The manufacturer does not assume any warranty in case of improper or incorrect use or after repair by unauthorized third parties.

FIRST USE AND HANDLING

  1. Plug the lead of the base into the mains.
  2. Remove the kettle from the base. Press the opening button ÖFFNEN/AUF on top of the handle. The lid is released and can be opened.
  3. Fill the kettle with water (minimum 0.25 litres, maximum 1.2 litres, mark MAX). For the first use fill up to the mark MAX.

CAUTION!

Do not overfill. If the kettle is overfilled, boiling water may be ejected.

  1. Close the lid until by pressing the black button on the lid until it clicks into place. The locking prevents accidental opening during pouring out.
  2. Place the kettle level on the base in order to establish the contact with the power connection.
  3. Switch on the kettle by pressing the key downwards. The inside of the kettle will be lighted (control lamp function). Pour away water from first boiling.

  4. The kettle is automatically switched off when the water boils and the control lamp turns out. However, boiling can be stopped by operating the I switch.

ATTENTION:

The automatic shutoff only works, if the lid is correctly closed.

  1. After an adequate cooling-off period the water can once again be brought to boil by pressing ON the switch.
  2. The kettle is fitted with a dry-operation cutoff that switches off the heating elements when they become too hot, for instance when the kettle has boiled dry. Allow the kettle to cool down. Then fill the kettle with cold water.

CLEANING AND CARE

  1. Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning it.
  2. Before cleaning, always turn off the appliance and unplug it from the power supply.
  3. Do not immerse the base, power cord or kettle in water or other liquids or wash them in the dishwasher.
  4. Wipe off the base and the kettle with a damp cloth and a little dishwashing detergent. Do

not use any abrasive scouring agents, steel wool, metal objects, hot cleaning agents or disinfectants, since they can damage the appliance.

  1. The appliance must be completely dry on the outside before you use it again.

DESCALING

  1. To keep the appliance operating efficiently and to prolong its service life, it should be descaled regularly, depending on the hardness of your water.
  2. To descale the kettle, fill it no more than half full with a solution of half water and half household vinegar. Bring the liquid to a boil and leave it in the kettle for a while.
  3. Pour the descaling solution out of the kettle.
  4. Then fill it with fresh water and bring to a boil. Pour this water out as well. Then rinse the kettle at least twice with clear water.

  5. Of course, you can also use commercially available descaling products; please follow the instructions on the package.

In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged and postage paid, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. If the defect is covered by the warranty, the customer will be reimbursed for the shipping costs. The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties. Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.
