Frequently Asked Questions - 18122 UNOLD

What is the maximum capacity of the Unold 18122 kettle?
The maximum capacity is 1.7 liters. Do not exceed the 'Max' mark to avoid overflow of boiling water.
How to descale the kettle?
Use a commercial kettle descaler. Fill halfway with the solution, heat without boiling, let it sit for a few moments, then empty. Rinse several times with clean water. Also clean the removable anti-scale filter under running water with a soft brush.
Can I heat milk or other liquids?
No, this kettle is designed only for heating water. Milk or other liquids may overflow and damage the appliance.
What to do if the kettle does not turn on?
Check that the tank is correctly placed on the base and that the lid is properly closed. Make sure the switch is in the 'On' position. If the problem persists, check the power supply and the dry-run protection (let it cool for 15 minutes if the appliance has heated dry).
How to clean the kettle?
Allow the appliance to cool, unplug it. Wipe the base and tank with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Never immerse the kettle or base in water and do not put them in the dishwasher.
Is the kettle safe for children?
Children under 8 must not use the appliance without supervision. Children between 3 and 8 may turn it on/off only under supervision. The appliance becomes very hot: keep it out of reach of young children and supervise older children.
Can I use an adapter or extension cord?
It is not recommended to use an extension cord. Always plug directly into a suitable power outlet (220-240 V~, 50 Hz). If the cord is too short, use a quality extension cord suitable for the appliance's power.
How does the automatic shut-off work?
The automatic shut-off cuts the power as soon as the water reaches boiling. It also activates in case of dry operation (no water) to prevent overheating. Let the appliance cool before refilling.
The kettle has a new plastic smell, is this normal?
Yes, it is normal during the first uses. Boil water once or twice and discard it to remove manufacturing residues. Make sure to clean the appliance thoroughly before first use.
Where is the anti-scale filter and how to change it?
The anti-scale filter is located in the spout. It can be gently removed for cleaning. There is no specific replacement part; you can clean the existing filter. For any defective part, contact Unold customer service.
