SAFETY INFORMATION
Please read the following information and 1. keep it for future reference.
This appliance is not intended for use by 2. persons (including children) with limited physical, sensory or mental abilities or with lack of experience or lack of knowledge, unless they are supervised by a person who is responsible for their safety or have been instructed on how to use the appliance.
Children should be supervised in order 3. to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
- Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
Connect appliance only to an AC power 5. supply with voltage corresponding to the voltage on the rating plate.
Do not operate this appliance with an 6. external timer or remote control system.
Never immerse the appliance or the power 7. cord in water or other liquids.
The base should never come into contact 8. with water or other liquids. In case this ever happens, it must be completely dry before operating the appliance again.
Do not clean the electric kettle or the base 9. in a dish-washer.
Never touch the appliance or power cord 10. with wet hands.
This appliance is intended to be used in 11. household and similar applications such as:
staff kitchen areas in shops, of ces and ■ other working environments; farm houses; ■
by client in hotels, motels and other ■ working environments;
bed and breakfast type environments. ■
- For safety reasons, never place the appliance on hot surfaces, a metal tray or a wet surface.
Do not place the appliance or power cord 13. near openames during operation.
Always use the electric kettle on a level, 14. uncluttered and heat-resistant surface.
Make sure that the power cord does not hang 15. over the edge of the countertop or table, since this can cause accidents, for example if small children pull on the cord.
Route the power cord so that there is no 16. possibility of the cord being pulled or tripped over.
Never wrap the power cord around the 17. appliance.
Use the electric kettle only indoors.18.
Use the appliance only for heating water. Do 19. not use it to heat milk or other liquids, since they will boil over when heated.
Never heat objects such as cans or bottles in 20. the electric kettle.
Make sure that the lid of the appliance is 21. always completely closed, to prevent injuries from hot splashing water.
Do not open the lid as long as the water 22. is boiling, to prevent injuries from hot splashing water.
Never ll the appliance with more than 23. 1.7 liters of water, to prevent the water from boiling over.
Never switch on the appliance if there is no 24. water in the kettle.
Make sure that all users, especially child-25. ren, are aware of the danger of injury from emerging steam or hot splashing water – danger of burns!
Do not move the appliance as long as it is in 26. operation, to prevent burns from splashing water.
The electric kettle features boil dry protec-27. tion, which means the appliance shuts off automatically if the heating element becomes too hot. Allow the appliance to cool about 15 minutes. Then || the electric
kettle with cold water. The boil dry protection is deactivated and the appliance is ready for operation again.
Do not use the appliance with accessories 28. of other manufacturers or brands, to prevent damage.
Unplug the appliance from the power supply 29. after use and prior to cleaning. Never leave the appliance unattended when it is plugged in to the power supply.
Check the appliance, the plug and the 30. power cord regularly for wear or damage. In case of damage to the power cord or other parts, please send the appliance or the base for inspection and repair to our after sales service (for address, see warranty terms). Unauthorized repairs can result in serious risks to the user and void the warranty.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be 31. replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent or a similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard.
Caution!
Do not open the lid while the water is boiling. If the kettle is over lled, boiling water can splash out.
The appliance is intended for household use only. The manufacturer will not be liable in the event of incorrect assembly, improper or incorrect use or if repairs are carried out by unauthorized third parties.
BEFORE USING THE APPLIANCE THE FIRST TIME
- Remove all packaging materials and any transport safety devices.
Clean all parts with a damp cloth, as 2. described in the chapter “Cleaning and care” on page 12.
Check to make sure that the appliance is 3. stable.
Connect the base via the power cord to the 4. power supply (220 - 240 V\~, 50 Hz).
- Remove the kettle from the base.
Open the lid by gripping into the lid and 6. pulling it upwards.
-
Add clear, cold water to the "Max" marking.
-
Close the lid by pressing lightly.
-
Place the kettle level on the base. The upright power connection must t exactly into the opening at the underside of the kettle.
Push up the switch I/O under the handle. 10. The indicator lamps light up. The water now begins to heat.
When the water boils, the appliance auto-11. matically shuts off.
For hygienic reasons, please discard the 12. water from the rst boiling.
OPERATION
Remove the kettle from the base. 1.
Open the lid by gripping into the lid and 2. pulling it upwards.
- Fill the kettle with at least 0.5 liters of water. Do not ll the kettle with more than 1.7 liters of water ("Max" marking).
Close the lid by pressing lightly until it locks 4. into place. The locking mechanism prevents the lid from opening accidentally when pouring water.
Place the kettle level on the base. The 5. upright power connection must t exactly into the opening at the underside of the kettle.
Push up the switch I/O under the handle. 6. The water now begins to heat.
When the water boils, the appliance 7. automatically shuts off.
To make the water stop boiling earlier, press 8. the switch downward.
Caution: The automatic shut-off function 9. works only if the lid is properly closed.
If the kettle is lifted up before the water 10. boils, it has to be switched off by pressing the I/O switch. If the appliance is not switched off and then placed back on the base, the boiling will be continued.
If you want to boil more water, please allow 11. the appliance to cool off for a few minutes.
Boiling water can cause scalding. Therefore, 12. please handle the appliance with care when it contains hot water.
The appliance features boil dry protection. 13. When operated without water or with excessive scaling, the appliance shuts off automatically. If this happens, please allow the appliance to cool off brie y before lling it with water again or descale the appliance as described in the chapter “Descaling” on page 12.
CLEANING AND CARE
Allow the appliance to cool before cleaning 1. it.
Before cleaning, always turn off the appliance 2. and unplug it from the power supply.
Do not immerse the base, power cord or 3. kettle in water or other liquids or wash them in the dishwasher.
Wipe off the base and the kettle with a damp 4. cloth and a little dishwashing detergent. Do
not use any abrasive scouring agents, steel wool, metal objects, hot cleaning agents or disinfectants, since they can damage the appliance.
The appliance must be completely dry on 5. the outside before you use it again.
DESCALING
The lime scale Iter has to be cleaned 1. regularly. Please empty the kettle completely and allow it to cool off. Carefully remove the Iter from the pour spout. Clean the Iter carefully with a soft brush under running water. You can also place the Iter in a bowl with a descaling solution. Then rinse the Iter with clear water and insert it in the pour spout.
To keep the appliance operating ef ciently 2. and to prolong its service life, it should be descaled regularly, depending on the hardness of your water.

Bring the liquid to a boil and leave it in the kettle for a while. Pour the descaling solution out of the 4. kettle.
Then ll it with fresh water and bring to a 5. boil. Pour this water out as well. Then rinse the kettle at least twice with clear water. Of course, you can also use commercially 6. available descaling products; please follow the instructions on the package.

Within the warranty period we will remedy defective materials or workmanship through repair or replacement, at our option.
Our warranty terms apply only to appliances sold in Germany and Austria. For other countries, please contact the responsible importer. In the event of a claim for remedy of defects, please send the appliance to our after sales service, properly packaged and postage paid, together with a copy of the automatically generated sales receipt, which must show the date of purchase, and a description of the defect. If the defect is covered by the warranty, the customer will be reimbursed for the shipping costs. The warranty does not cover damage from normal wear, improper handling and failure to comply with the maintenance and care instructions. The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are made to the appliance by third parties.
Any claims of the end consumer vis-à-vis the retailer are not limited by this warranty.

If an appliance is defective and repair is not possible we ask you to follow the following instructions for disposal.
