What types of discs can I use with this burner?

Use DVD-R, DVD-RW, or DVD-R DL (single-sided dual layer) from recommended brands: JVC, TDK, Verbatim, SONY. Do not use DVD+R, DVD+RW, or DVD-RAM. DVD-R DL discs can only be used with an Everio HD camcorder or a computer.

How do I connect the burner to a TV?

You can use an HDMI cable (for HD quality), a component video cable (Y/Pb/Pr), or a composite audio/video cable (RCA). See pages 12-13 of the manual for connection diagrams. Make sure the TV is set to the corresponding input.

Can I copy videos directly from my Everio camcorder without a computer?

Yes. Connect the burner to the Everio camcorder using the supplied USB cable. Turn on the camcorder in play mode, insert a blank disc into the burner, then follow the on-screen instructions on the camcorder to copy. The copy creates an AVCHD disc, a data disc, or a DVD-video depending on the model.

The burner does not recognize the disc, what should I do?

Check that the disc is compatible (DVD-R/RW/DL) and inserted with the label facing up. Clean the disc with a soft cloth. If the problem persists, try another recommended disc. If the indicator blinks red, wait for the burner to cool down.

How do I play an AVCHD disc on this burner?

Insert the disc, the playback browser appears after about 40 seconds. Use the remote control to select and play files. You can also use the condensed playback function (preview). To stop, press STOP, then NAVIGATION/TOP MENU to return to the browser.

The remote control does not work, what should I do?

Check that the battery (CR2025) is correctly inserted and that there is no insulating sheet. Replace the battery if necessary. The remote control does not work if the tray is open or if the burner is connected to an Everio camcorder (only the power button works then). Bring it within 5 m.

Can I use this burner as a DVD burner for my computer?

Yes. Connect the burner to the computer via USB. Install the supplied CyberLink Power2Go 5.5 Lite software (under Windows XP/Vista 32-bit). You can then burn data to DVD-R/RW/DL. Note: the software does not allow video editing; use PowerDirector for that.

What does the blinking red indicator mean?

A slow red blinking indicates a drop in internal temperature of the burner. Some functions may stop. Wait for the indicator to turn off before using the unit. If the problem persists, turn off and unplug for a few minutes.

How do I finalize a disc so it is playable on other devices?

After copying from an Everio camcorder, finalize the disc via the camcorder menu. For discs burned on PC, in Power2Go, under the 'Burner' tab, check 'Close disc' to finalize. An unfinalized disc may not play correctly on other players.

Can I use this burner with a Mac?

No, the burner and the provided software are not compatible with Macintosh. It works only under Windows (XP or Vista 32-bit).
