B. Power light
C. Temperature range indicator
D. Handle
E. Latch
F. Adjustable thermostat
G. Belgian and flat plates (2 of each) (models WR25-45 only)

Using for the first time

  • Before using for the first time, the baking surfaces should be cleaned with a moist cloth.
  • The first two or three waffles should not be eaten. Before filling with batter, please decide if you want medium or crispy waffles by using the adjustable thermostat knob.

Using the Waffle Maker

Note: make sure the plates are secure and properly in place before plugging in and turning on the waffle maker (models WR25-45 only).

  • The power light will illuminate when the appliance is plugged into the outlet.

The power light indicates that the unit is on and is preheating.

  • The desired degree of browning can be achieved with the adjustable thermostat. Choose your desired temperature by turning the adjustable thermostat knob from low to high (or high to low) setting. When the appliance reaches the set temperature, the green ready light will illuminate and 6 beeps will sound to let you know it is time to pour the waffle (pancake) batter into the bottom of the grid (Belgian plate).

The appliance will maintain the set temperature during the entire baking process. To maximise contact with the top plate, you should cover the bottom plate completely with batter.

Note: be sure to close the lid before baking begins.

  • The green ready light will turn off when the baking operation begins. It will light up again along with 3 beeps to let you know the waffle is done. Open the plates and check the degree of cooking of the waffle.
If necessary, close the plates again and continue cooking the batter in the appliance until it reaches the required colour.
  • We recommend lightly greasing the baking surfaces every time the unit is used.

Note:

  • Care must be taken to ensure that fingers do not come into contact with the plates.
  • Bake only with the lid closed.
  • When baking is finished, open the waffle maker and remove the waffle with a plastic or wooden spatula. Never use metal knife as this may damage the non-stick coating.

Note: the waffle maker does not turn off automatically after baking is complete. The only way to turn off the waffle maker is to remove the plug from the outlet.

Be sure to unplug the waffle maker after each use.

Important: Contents are hot. Use caution when removing waffle from the plates.

Always unplug the appliance from the outlet after baking is complete. Allow to cool before taking off or putting on any parts, and before cleaning.

Caution: Please return the appliance to the nearest service facility for repair, adjustment and replacement when both red and green lights flash.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Always pull out the main plug before any cleaning operation and allow the appliance to cool down.
- Never dip the appliance into water or hold it under running water.
- Wipe down the casing with a moist cloth only.
- On models WR25-45 remove the plates for cleaning after they have cooled down.
- The plates are the only detachable parts that can be cleaned separately (on models WR25-45). Use a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaning detergent. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Never use sharp or pointed objects or any abrasive cleaning agents for cleaning purposes.
- DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER.

Basic recipe

Basic batter for 6/8 persons (the ingredients and quantities can be varied to suit individual tastes and the number of waffles required).

Ingredients: 200g flour, 175g castor sugar, 60g milk, 3 eggs, 175g butter (melted), 1 teaspoon vanilla essence, salt

Preparation: blend the butter and sugar together in a bowl, add the flour, vanilla, milk and egg yolks and mix well with an electric whisk.

Whisk the egg whites separately with a pinch of salt until stiff, then fold delicately into the mixture prepared previously.

Pour the batter onto the preheated plates and follow the instructions on page 4.
