How to descale the kettle?

Fill the kettle with water and add a suitable descaling agent. Do not boil the solution. Then rinse thoroughly with clean water.

What to do if the kettle does not turn off after boiling?

Check that the lid is properly closed and that the mesh filter is correctly installed. If the problem persists, contact customer service.

Can I heat milk or broth?

No, the kettle is only designed to heat water. Never heat milk or other food liquids.

How to clean the anti-scale filter?

Remove the mesh filter by inserting a finger into the spout opening and pressing inward. Clean it with clean water and descaling if necessary.

Why does the kettle turn off before boiling?

This is due to a thick layer of limescale on the bottom. Perform a descaling with a product suitable for steel.

What is the maximum water capacity?

The maximum capacity is 1.75 liters. Do not exceed the MAX mark on the level indicator.

Can I use the kettle without the lid?

No, the lid must be closed for the automatic shut-off system to work properly. Using it without the lid is dangerous.

What to do if the device does not turn on?

Check that the kettle is correctly placed on its base and that the switch is pressed. If nothing happens, let the device cool down for 5 to 10 minutes before trying again.

How to open the lid?

Push the lid release (E) towards the handle (F) and lift the lid. Make sure it locks after closing.

Points to remember when operating the express kettle

• Before starting the appliance ensure that the mains cord and plug are dry.
• Never use the kettle with wet hands.
• Never use the appliance outdoors.
• Whilst using the express kettle, high temperatures are reached which can cause scalding if the kettle is not handled carefully. Therefore only hold the appliance by the handle (F) provided.
• Do not use the kettle unsupervised. Do not place or use the kettle on hot surfaces or near naked flames.
• Attention: If the kettle is overfilled there is a risk that the boiling water may spray out. Therefore never fill the kettle above the maximum marking.
• Only use your kettle for heating water! Never put foodstuffs or foodstuff additives into the kettle. Never heat milk or stock on the kettle! Do not place any objects in the kettle!
• Never use the appliance with the lid (B) open as otherwise the automatic switch off cannot work.
• Do not move the appliance whilst it is on.
• Never immerse the appliance in liquid!
• Protect the appliance and cord from heat and wetness.
• If the appliance is used for any other purpose or is incorrectly used, the manufacturer adopts no liability for any damages which may result.
• Always empty the kettle completely. Do not leave residual water in the appliance for a long period.

• Do not switch on the appliance without water.

• Ensure that the kettle is switched off before removing it from the base unit.

• Only use the kettle with the associated base.

Packaging material

The packaging materials are environmentally friendly and can be recycled. The plastic components are identified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the packaging materials in the appropriate container at the community waste disposal facilities.

Using your kettle

Before using your new kettle you should wipe it inside and outside with a damp cloth due to hygienic reasons.

Initial use

Place the base unit (J) on a firm surface.
Plug the mains plug into a wall socket.
If the mains cord is longer than necessary it can be wound up at the bottom of the base unit (J).
Press release button for lid (E) towards the handle (F) and open the lid (B).
Fill with at least sufficient water to make it visible on the water level indicator (G), but not higher than the MAX. mark.
Close the lid (B) until it engages. The automatic switch off can only function reliably if this is done.
Place the kettle onto the base (J).
Press the ON/OFF switch (H) down, the pilot light lights up and the kettle starts to heat up.

The automatic switch off

The kettle will switch off automatically and the pilot light will go out when the water has boiled.

If you want to stop the heating process before the kettle automatically switches off, simply press the ON/OFF switch (H) up. If you want to reheat water which has already been heated, press the ON/OFF switch (H) down again. When the water has boiled the kettle will switch off automatically. If the kettle is only filled with a little water, it takes longer to switch off.

Safety system

This appliance is equipped with a boil-dry safety cut-out. This feature protects the appliance from overheating when started without water or from boiling until it is empty if used with the lid open. If the appliance is accidently switched on without water, it is automatically protected against overheating. The heating process is automatically interrupted. Before using the kettle again let it cool down for 5-10 minutes.

Cleaning and care

Always disconnect the kettle from the mains supply before cleaning.
! Never clean the kettle and base unit under running water or immerse it in washing-up water.
Occasionally rinse out the kettle with clean water.
Clean the outside of the appliance only using a damp cloth. Do not use any caustic or abrasive cleansing agents.
For cleaning, push the strainer insert (C) with one finger through the spout (D) towards the inside of the kettle and remove. To reinsert, fit the strainer insert on one side first, then bend the other side of the insert slightly to fit in place.
The heating base is made of stainless steel. If, however, spots of rust appear, these are only deposits adhering to the surface. They can be removed with a stainless steel cleaning agent.

Dscaling

Lime scale deposits on the bottom of the kettle result in loss of energy and can affect the service life of the appliance. The appliance switches off before boiling if the layer of scale is too thick. It is then very difficult to remove.

The appliance should be descaled regularly depending on the level of the water hardness. Use a standard descaler following the directions; preferably choose an environmentally friendly, descending agent suitable for stainless steel according to the instructions from the manufacturer.

First fill in water, then a standard descaling preparation which is not too strong.

! Do not boil the solution as it could foam over.
After descending, rinse the kettle out thoroughly with clean water. Never pour descending agents into an enamel sink and do not reuse them.

What to do if ...

• The base of the kettle is too thickly scaled. Treat with standard commercial descending agent suitable for stainless steel. Note the directions for use from the manufacturer.
• the appliance does not switch off?
• Close lid until it locks.
• Insert the strainer correctly.
• the kettle pours badly?
• Descale the strainer insert.
• the appliance cannot be switched on?
• After operating with very little or no water, the appliance has not yet cooled sufficiently.
