OPERATION
This is how the solar cell light works
Throughout the day, the solar cell panel converts solar energy to energy for the rechargeable battery. In the evening, the light automatically uses the stored energy to light up. How long the light lasts depends on location, the weather and the season's daylight conditions.
Choose the right location
A location outdoors with direct sunlight where the light's solar cell panel can receive at least 6 hours of sunlight a day is ideal for the solar cell light. Shady sites have a negative effect on battery charging resulting in the light potentially not lasting as long at night. The solar cell light should not be positioned close to other lighting, for example, street lighting, as there is a sensor in the light which senses the intensity of light and can cause the light to turn off. The solar cell light is ideal for lighting up gardens, lawns, patios, garden paths or other places at night. You can even charge the light outdoors in order to use it indoors.
Consider the following
Note that the light is designed to turn on when it gets dark. If there are strong light sources in the vicinity, the light can become very weak or turns off. Even if the battery has been charged by the manufacturer, the charge will have decreased upon delivery. Charge the light for a whole day in order to optimise its functioning. The outside of the solar cell light must be kept clean, otherwise the charging efficiency can be affected negatively.
This how to use the solar cell light
Set the power switch to ON and put the light in a sunny spot. Check the following if the light does not automatically turn on after charging for six hours:
- Check that the battery is making contact with the terminals.
- Check that the light has been placed in a sunny spot and that the solar panels are directed at the sun, and bear in mind that the battery might not be fully charged when purchased.
MAINTENANCE
Replacing the battery
If the light stops working after a longer period of use (approx. 12 months), it may mean that the battery needs to be replaced. Open the battery lid and replace the battery with a new rechargeable AAA battery.
Light
The LED bulb lasts for over 60,000 hours and it does not need to be replaced.
