How to turn the computer on and off?

To turn on, press the power switch located above the keyboard. To turn off, click Start then Shut Down. You can also use the key combination Fn+F4 to put it to sleep.

How to use the special function keys (Fn)?

Hold down the Fn key and press the desired function key. For example, Fn+F3 activates/deactivates communications, Fn+F6 turns off the backlight to save power.

How to connect an external monitor?

Connect the monitor to the VGA or HDMI port on the left side. Use the combination Fn+F5 to switch between internal, external, or both screens.

How to use the memory card reader?

Insert the memory card (SD, MMC, MS, MS PRO, xD) into the slot on the front edge. Push gently until it clicks. To remove, push again. Only one card can be used at a time.

How to eject a disc from the optical drive?

Press the eject button on the right side. If the computer is off, insert a paperclip into the emergency eject hole next to the button.

What to do if the computer does not turn on?

Check that the battery is charged or plug in the AC adapter. Ensure the power indicator is lit. If the problem persists, contact technical support.

How to save battery power?

Reduce screen brightness with Fn+F6 or the brightness keys. Use sleep mode with Fn+F4. Disable unused wireless devices with Fn+F3.

How to clean the screen?

Use a soft, dry cloth (microfiber). Never apply liquid directly. For stubborn stains, lightly dampen the cloth with water.

How to use the touchpad?

Such instances are marked in the text with language such as "only for certain models".

This Quick Guide introduces you to the basic features and functions of your new computer. For more on how your computer can help you to be more productive, please refer to the AcerSystem User Guide. This guide contains detailed information on such subjects as system utilities, data recovery, expansion options and troubleshooting. In addition it contains warranty information and the general regulations and safety notices for your notebook. It is available in Portable Document Format (PDF) and comes preloaded on your notebook. Follow these steps to access it:

1 Click on Start > All Programs > AcerSystem. 2 Click on AcerSystem User Guide.

Note: Viewing the file requires Adobe Reader. If Adobe Reader is not installed on your computer, clicking on AcerSystem User Guide will run the Adobe Reader setup program first. Hotkeys

The computer employs hotkeys or key combinations to access most of the computer's controls like screen brightness and volume output.

To activate hotkeys, press and hold the Fn key before pressing the other key in the hotkey combination.
