Frequently Asked Questions - AP688 WHIRLPOOL

How often should I replace the filters?
The pre-filter should be cleaned every 30 days. The True HEPA and activated carbon filters should be replaced every 6-12 months depending on usage and air quality.
How do I reset the filter replacement indicator?
After replacing the filters, press and hold the Filter Reset button for 3 seconds until the indicator light turns off.
Can I wash the HEPA filter?
No, the True HEPA filter is not washable. Only the pre-filter can be vacuumed or rinsed with water. Replace the HEPA filter when it becomes dirty.
Why is the air quality indicator showing red?
A red indicator means the air quality is poor. The purifier will automatically increase fan speed to clean the air. Ensure windows and doors are closed for best results.
How do I turn on the ionizer feature?
Press the Ionizer button on the control panel. The icon will illuminate when active. Note that ionizers produce trace ozone; turn off if you are sensitive.
What is the recommended room size for this purifier?
The Whirlpool AP688 is designed for rooms up to 500 square feet. For optimal performance, place it in a central location.
Can I use the purifier 24/7?
Yes, the purifier is designed for continuous use. The auto mode adjusts fan speed based on air quality, saving energy when the air is clean.
How do I clean the pre-filter?
Vacuum the pre-filter using a brush attachment. For deeper cleaning, rinse with water and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Do not use harsh chemicals.
Why is the unit making a loud noise?
Check if the pre-filter is clogged or if the fan is obstructed. Ensure the unit is on a level surface. If noise persists, contact Whirlpool support.
Does this purifier remove odors and VOCs?
Yes, the activated carbon filter helps reduce odors from cooking, smoke, and household chemicals, as well as some volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
