Frequently Asked Questions - AP33 WHIRLPOOL

How often should I replace the filter in my Whirlpool AP33 air purifier?
The filter replacement interval depends on usage and air quality. Typically, the HEPA filter should be replaced every 6-12 months, and the activated carbon filter every 3-6 months. The indicator light will alert you when it's time to replace.
Can I wash the filters?
No, the HEPA and carbon filters are not washable. Attempting to wash them can damage the filter media. Only the pre-filter (if included) can be vacuumed or gently cleaned. Replace the filters as recommended.
What is the recommended room size for the AP33?
The AP33 is designed for rooms up to 25 m² (about 270 sq ft). For best results, place the purifier in the room where you spend the most time and ensure proper air circulation.
How do I clean the exterior of the AP33?
Unplug the unit and wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals. Ensure no moisture enters the air vents.
Why is my AP33 making a loud noise?
Loud noise may indicate a blockage or a dirty filter. Check the air intake and outlet for obstructions. If the noise persists, the fan may be unbalanced. Contact customer support for assistance.
Does the AP33 have an auto mode?
Yes, the AP33 features an auto mode that adjusts fan speed based on the detected air quality. The air quality sensor monitors particulate levels and automatically selects the appropriate speed.
Can I use the AP33 continuously 24/7?
Yes, the AP33 is designed for continuous operation. However, we recommend using the sleep mode at night for quieter operation and lower energy consumption.
How do I reset the filter replacement indicator?
After replacing the filters, plug in the unit and press and hold the 'Filter Reset' button (or a combination of buttons, see manual) for 3-5 seconds until the indicator light turns off.
What does the color of the air quality indicator mean?
Blue indicates good air quality, green indicates moderate, and red indicates poor air quality. The purifier will automatically adjust fan speed in auto mode based on this reading.
Is the AP33 Energy Star certified?
Yes, the Whirlpool AP33 is Energy Star certified, meaning it meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. EPA, helping you save on electricity costs while maintaining clean air.

Anti Allergy (AA) mode: alternates airflow automatically.

Manual mode: runs at selected airflow irrespective of air quality.

Main unit cannot set timer, negative ions or cleanness level light. Use remote.

If sensor detects clean air quality for 30 minutes consecutively, 'Low' airflow is set and the UV light extinguishes.

Sensor sensitivity switch

In auto mode the dust and gas sensors monitor air quality. These record quality in by the 3 stages of cleanness light and adjust airflow accordingly. (Unit operates at the higher of the two readings)

Since sensor sensitivity varies according to the condition of the room, adjust sensors as required between 'Lo' and 'Hi'

(Factory setting is 'Lo')

- Dust sensor

Detects airborne particles such as pollen, domestic dust, tick bodies and droppings and smoke.

Dust quantity differs from visible dust, so the cleanness level light indication may appear different from that expected.

Gas sensor

Detects airborne gases such as kitchen rubbish, toilet, pet and smoke smells. (May also react to rapid changes in temperature or humidity)

The sensor may react to, for example, makeup, but this does not cause failure of the unit.
