Electrical Requirement (For UK market only)

This appliance is supplied with a moulded three pin mains plug for your safety and convenience. A 13amp fuse is fitted in this plug. Should the fuse need to be replaced please ensure that the replacement fuse has a rating of 13-amp and that it is approved by ASTA or BSI to BS1362. Check for the ASTA mark or the BSI mark on the body of the fuse. If the plug contains a removable fuse cover, you must ensure that it is refitted when the fuse is replaced. If you lose the fuse cover, the plug must not be used until a replacement cover is obtained. A replacement fuse cover can be purchased from your local Panasonic Dealer. If the fitted moulded plug is unsuitable for the socket outlet in your home, then the fuse should be removed and the plug cut off and disposed of safely. There is a danger of severe electrical shock if the cut off plug is inserted into any 13-amp socket.

How to replace the fuse

The location of the fuse differs according to the type of AC mains plug (figures A and B). Confirm the AC mains plug fitted and follow the instructions below. Illustrations may differ from actual AC mains plug. Open the fuse cover with a screwdriver and replace the fuse and close or attach the fuse cover.

Adjusting the length of the mains lead

* Pass the mains lead out through the cut out section.

*Keep the lid closed when pouring away the water.

Empty-use prevention function

When the power switch is on without water, an empty-use prevention function works to automatically turn off the power in order to prevent accidents and malfunction due to overheating.  Allow the body to cool sufficiently.  Remove the body from the power base and fill the water.  Place it on the power base and turn on the power switch again. *If you boil the kettle without water, it may smell strange.

Clean the appliance after every use.

Before cleaning, unplug the mains plug, pour away the hot water, and cool the body. • Do not use soap. (This may cause a residual odour.) • Do not use benzine, thinner, alcohol, bleach, polishing powder, metal brush or nylon brush, otherwise the surface will be damaged. • Do not wash in a dishwasher.

Check the following before contacting the shop or asking for a repair.

Did you try to turn on the power switch without water in the kettle?

The Empty-use prevention function will work to turn off the power switch.

Fill with water and turn on the power switch.

Hot water may burst out from the spout.

Is the water level above the maximum water level?

Reduce the water down to the maximum water level or lower. (P.20)

Water is dripping from the bottom of the body.

Since the kettle is designed to sense steam and turn off the power switch, the steam can condense and drip from the bottom of the body as water droplets.

This is not malfunction.

Please remove the scale.

• Remove it regularly using a suitable scale remover. • Follow the instructions supplied with the scale remover. After removal, repeat the following steps a few times: fill with water, boil, pour away.

Once the kettle has boiled, the power switch is automatically turned off and cannot be turned on for approximately 3 minutes.

The hot water has a strange smell.

The first time of use, there may be plastic smell, but this will disappear as you continue to use the kettle. Shiny white or brown substances are floating in the hot water. Rough milky white substances are adhered to parts inside the body.
