Frequently Asked Questions - SR-TMJ501 PANASONIC

How do I cook white rice in the Panasonic SR-TMJ501?
Measure rice using the provided cup, rinse, and add water to the corresponding level inside the pot. Select the White Rice function and press start. The cooker will switch to Keep Warm automatically.
Can I use the SR-TMJ501 to steam vegetables?
Yes, use the included steam basket. Add water to the pot, place vegetables in the basket, and select the Steam function. The cooking time depends on the vegetable type.
How do I set the timer for delayed cooking?
Press the Timer button and use the + / - buttons to set the desired finish time. Then select your cooking program and press start. The cooker will begin cooking at the appropriate time.
Why is my rice burning or sticking to the bottom?
Ensure you are using the correct water-to-rice ratio. For harder rice types, consider using the Brown Rice setting. Also, make sure the inner pot is properly seated and not damaged. Soaking rice for 30 minutes before cooking can help.
How should I clean the rice cooker?
Unplug and let it cool. Remove the inner pot and wash with mild detergent and a soft sponge. The inner lid can be removed for cleaning. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Never immerse the body in water.
What do the error codes mean?
Common codes: E1 indicates sensor failure, E2 indicates overheating. If an error appears, unplug the cooker, wait 10 minutes, and restart. If persistent, contact Panasonic support.
Can I cook brown rice with the same measurements as white rice?
No, brown rice requires more water. Use the provided measuring cup and fill water to the Brown Rice line inside the pot. Alternatively, select the Brown Rice program which automatically adjusts cooking time.
How long does it take to cook rice?
Approximately 12-15 minutes for white rice, 30-40 minutes for brown rice, and 40-50 minutes for porridge. Actual time may vary based on quantity and voltage.
Is the inner pot dishwasher safe?
It is recommended to wash the inner pot by hand with a soft sponge. Dishwasher detergents may damage the non-stick coating over time.
Where can I find replacement parts for the SR-TMJ501?
Contact Panasonic customer service or visit the official website. Common replaceable parts include the inner pot, lid seal, and power cord.
