The main cause of your FALMEC West hood starting at too high a speed is the desired speed function. This function allows the hood to automatically restart at the last speed selected before the previous shutdown. If you had used speed 2 or 3 (or the 4th intensive speed if your model has it), the hood will restart at that same speed each time it is turned back on.

To solve this issue, always set your hood to speed 1 (minimum) before turning it off, then turn it off. The next time you turn it on, it will start directly at speed 1. You can then gradually increase the speed if necessary using the + and - buttons on your control panel.

If your hood restarts at speed 4 (intensive mode), check that the + button is not accidentally stuck. The intensive mode is limited to 15 minutes before automatically returning to speed 3. Also, check that this mode was not inadvertently activated before the previous shutdown.

To use your FALMEC West optimally, adopt these habits: use speed 1 to keep the air clean with minimal energy consumption, speed 2 under normal cooking conditions, and speed 3 only in the presence of strong odors or a lot of steam. Remember to turn off your hood by always bringing it back to speed 1 to avoid these unwanted restarts.
